Flare followed Luna through the grass, borrowing the path that she had trampled down to make his own going somewhat easier. He couldn't help but wonder sometimes what it would be like to be a plant-eating Pokemon, like the Tauros in the distance. It seemed like you would never go hungry, especially in a place like this. Their meatless diet certainly didn't hamper their size, that was for sure. Perhaps it was good that they didn't know what they were missing.

His paws starting to ache, particularly his rear ones, Flare was quick to agree to his companion's suggestion to take a rest. "That's gotta be the first good idea you had today! Let's get a drink, kid" he responded with his usual bravado. He wasn't accustomed to walking long distances at a time. Rather, most of his day consisted of short bursts of activity when hunting or chasing followed by long periods of rest. This constant walking plod was new to him.

The water itself was in a slight depression, suggesting that the receded shoreline wasn't quite at capacity. The water seemed pretty calm, apart from the occasional ripple, and the normally cautious Growlithe saw no problem in approaching through the mud. Lowering his head, he took a deep draw of the fresh water.
