Their night had been something memorable for Gabriel and he didn't normally allow himself to get attached. To call it passionate was an understatement, but he wasn't about to analyze one of the better nights of his life. After they spent the night together, the morning rays brought in the warmth and washed over their bed. There wasn't a romantic bone in Gabriel's body, but for some strange reason, Chance was bringing that out in him. After he had persuaded him to stay the night, he hadn't planned on the next events. Gabriel stretched and felt the body of Chance resting on his right arm. He managed to free himself without disturbing Chance and scooted toward the edge of the bed. He didn't want to disturb Chance's sleep, but he couldn't help but wonder if he'd stay another night. Gabriel looked back toward Chance while he slept and felt a smile emerge. It was the first time in years since he felt legitimately happy and he wasn't about to throw that all away over old fears.

He got up with a slowed motion and got dressed, then made his way into the kitchen. Gabriel turned on the coffee maker and began to make a simple breakfast for the both of them. He pushed the spatula around to scramble the eggs and then served the meal on a big platter. He was no chef, but he could do the basics. Gabriel smirked at the simple meal he created and decided to let Chance sleep in. He went about his every-day routine and retrieved his newspaper and began to sift through the daily headlines. Nothing caught his eye, except the news of the disappearing of the hiker. He rose a brow at that oddity and considered the connection with Zeb, but it would be too much of a coincidence. Yet, the heavy feeling in his gut wouldn't leave. He decided to move past that headline and continued to enjoy his morning paper.

The smell of freshly brewed coffee would waft through the apartment and find its way into their bedroom. If the scents didn't wake Chance up, he was sure that his subtle movement would. He served himself some coffee and pondered their next action. Should he contact his boss, or let things play out until he was called in to investigate further? He found himself lost in thought, the debate obvious: to go on his own, or rely on his work.

He folded the paper neatly and leaned back in the couch. The coffee was perfect: bitter, but sweetened with some cream and sugar. Gabriel felt the warmth from the porcelain mug in his hands and his worries began to melt away. He decided to let fate play a role in his next move.
