So when Link told him it was okay, that he wouldn't mind Lee crying, Lee broke down. He wasn't even entirely sure why. He was ashamed, he was afraid, he was so afraid of so many things. Perhaps if he was a little more sober than he was, he would have felt embarrassed about how, an hour ago, they were just awkward acquaintances at best, and now, here he was, sobbing in Link's arms. But right then, Lee wasn't capable of feeling more than one emotion at once. So he let the anxiety consume him for a brief moment, and he cried.
He didn't know how long he stayed like that for. In some ways, it felt like it wasn't long enough, and in others, it felt like an eternity. But eventually, the crying subsided, and Lee straightened up, wiping his eyes. And perhaps it was the drugs in his system that lent him some courage, but he found himself asking, "Can... can I stay with you tonight? I just... I don't want to be alone." His parents were out of the country at some big important business conference, one that was too important for them to miss. And generally Lee didn't mind being by himself but... this was an exception.
