He smirked as she made the comment about parents, but inside, he found himself wondering what exactly family drama meant to her. If it was just her father being overprotective or not caring enough. James did this to himself every time anyone mentioned anything about their family. He always found himself comparing their lives and wishing that he wasn't stuck in the life he was. It wasn't healthy and he knew it.
He raised his eyebrows as she mentioned not being from this side of town. She seemed to think it was relatively affluent, which surprised him. Everyone who lived in this city knew of the drama beneath the surface, and many knew the lines marking out particular territories, and where was no man's land. He wondered if she was from their territory, if that was what she meant.
"Honestly, there isn't a whole pile to do around here. The library's pretty nice if you want somewhere quiet to just chill, or get some work done. We have the park, which is fine as long as you keep yourself to yourself and don't look at anyone else too long or too hard. This isn't the most exciting part of town, people are... kinda afraid of it at times," he admitted with a laugh.
