Marlene quietly litened to the statements that Rei was making, she was recording everything, and the room was recording everything; there was no need for Marlene to take notes; she could do that at a later time, when she could sit and consider the responses the other woman was giving to her.

“So you recieved some kind of call, and some encrypted intel... yet you turned whatever it was down.” Marlene said, nodding, for a moment sseeming like she was going to buy the story.

“You turned down the job because of the percieved risks of going into Aschen space..” She said, splaying her hands flat on the table, and looking down to the subtle reflections of the glossy black material.

“And yet... here we are.” She said, looking back up to Rei. “Here you sit, feeding me a line of shit.” She chuckled, and then scoffed. “It’s okay... because you see; we’re going to seize the ship... the question is what do I do with you... if my sister is truly gone... then this is open, and shut... your vessel will be seized pursuant to Imperial Law... and you’ll be charged with fleeing inspection, evasion, and illegal crossing into Imperial space... and I suppose I’ll turn you over to the Ministry of Law for final disposition.” Marlene said, a look of regret crossing her face.

“Unless you can help me... I can’t help you.”
