Chanel figured Cara was probably adding in her own dramatics, but she didn't anticipate the severity of it, so Collin reading Cara's message was still a surprise to her. Especially since that wasn't the vibe she was getting on her end, but it was so juxtaposed that Chanel had to check her phone again to see if she missed something. While she hadn't missed anything to the tune of suicide threats, she had missed a text from her. "Yeah, yeah," she said. "I'll just be the good friend and brother today, I guess." It was probably the normal sentiment that siblings were supposed to be there for each other, but that wasn't always the case, and Chanel knew that wasn't the set up with the Forresters. So she wouldn't have really been picking up any of Collin's slack since those responsibilities didn't seem to be a part of their typical relationship. "You can't say she isn't creative though," Chanel proposed, trying to say something in her friend's favor as she began to text the girl back. She figured the girl would be a while by this point, and she didn't want to keep standing in Collin's doorway; oddly enough, she was for once beginning to feel her presence and thought that she might be lingering. Before she got the chance to excuse herself, or respond to Cara's text, the girl appeared in the hallway.
"Hey girl. Don't worry about it." Chanel greeted her with a sweet smile as she followed her inside, closing the door quietly behind her. "I was just going to do a little Tour de New York and run some errands. My fridge is on E, so I was going to hit up Trader Joe's or something before I starved to death. Nothing big. And I guess it shouldn't take too long," she said after a beat, mostly thinking out loud as she checked the time on her phone. "Because I have to come back and change for something this evening. But I'll still be able to do wine tonight if you wanted to." Chanel considered making a playful jab at Collin, glancing towards his direction for a second as she pondered, but she ultimately decided against it and, if he was looking in her direction, just gave him a quick faux-confrontational snarl before turning back to his sister.
