Happy at having a new friend named Jennora, Mei flew off. She cast a worried glance Emi's way and to Rakan too, but right now there was a best friend she had to tend to and that girl's name was Xayah herself. They had their talk, Xayah did not seem the happiest at what had happened despite it all. Even after showing her new humanoid form Xayah looked upset. "We dreamed for freedom, and for what, Mei?" She looked angry more than anything. "We were supposed to be ourselves, to see freedom in our own bodies. But now you've transformed into one of them!" Mei frowned, hugging Xayah at the shoulders. She had always been smaller than the blonde and even now with her wings she could fit nicely in. This was their first time actually touching with human skin on skin, but why was it such a sad occasion?
Xayah had to stop moping, had to start realizing that the world was more than just a sad dreary place. There was good in it too, all you had to do was know how to find it! "I can speak now. I can change into whatever I want, Xayah, see?" She became the butterfly, then a knife, then to butterfly, to human, to human with a knife arm with no effort at all. It hurt a little for each transformation, but naturally it would because of the shifting of her body parts and everything. "Isn't this good? We can finally do things together now." Xayah glared, turning away. "You're a yokai now." She crossed her arms, legs still unable to do anything. Her back was broken, there was nothing they could do to fix it now.
"Rakan's only ever been nice to us. He even gave me this body." She had to try to find a way to fix this, to make things better. She wanted to bring light back to her best friend's eyes. "William took us in when Rakan bought us, he gave us the money to have our own place. Sure, the first one did something horrible, but even so, we were free. Isn't that enough?" Xayah curled up, shaking her head. "Please go. I don't want to think right now, Mei." She just looked so tired, so broken, Mei did not know what to do. So she left, closing the door, then her legs gave out. After a year of never walking, of course she wouldn't be able to last that long. She clasped her hand over her mouth and cried, trying to silence the sound of her weakness. How could she save Xayah? How could she fix this?
