When the doors opened in the tombs she couldn't leave him, the only person that talked to her throughout her whole time on Earth. The only person that asked her for her name, the only person that reminded her she wasn't alone. She hadn't told him much about herself or Freya in fear that he would be questioned by the other humans and killed like the guards before him. She didn't have the heart to tell him that this job wasn't what he thought it was. It was basically where the government had put 'replaceable' soldiers. In Lyra's eyes, Atreyu was not replaceable, by any means.
"Owww.." Lyra moaned as she grabbed her shoulder, she coughed up blood and some liquid metal. The bullet wound she had taken for Atreyu had already started melting in her blood.
Lyra looked around the world that Freya had quickly opened, she wasn't exactly sure where they were. The sky was orange, the trees had pink fluffy leafs and the air was thick. Lyra quickly turned her head, looking at the human that fell through the portal, she stared at him to make sure he was breathing. The poor human was still out cold and she knew he would freak out if not try to kill her when he woke. If it wasn't the horns and claws for nails she didn't know what else it could be.
Suddenly tiny hands were around her head, hugging her entire face. Freya let go of Lyra, revealing the child's face to be of pure tears of joy. Lyra grabbed her spawn by her cheeks and brought her close, giving her a face full of tiny kisses as she scooped Freya in her lap. For a second she forgot about the solid bullet turning to liquid in her right shoulder blade. "I love you Freya." Lyra said giving her one final kiss before she got up, favoring her hurt arm.
Atreyu was sweating badly, Lyra could hear his heart racing from where she stood across from him. She walked over to him and started to unbuckle his backpack from his back. She carefully removed it from his back and pushed him over on his back. After she made sure he was okay without invading his privacy she fell to the ground, coughing again.
Freya started whining and crying, she stepped on Lyra's back. Then folded her knee to keep Lyra pinned down. Lyra screamed through the tears as Freya dug her claws into the bullet wound, trying to dig out the bullet. Lyra hit her head on the floor and stayed there crying quietly as the small child did more damage than helping.
