x The rest of the week had been absolute hell for Meg. The whole situation had put a major damper on her mood and she became more secluded than normal distancing herself not only from her friends but even her mom as well. Kaity had bothered her non stop about what had happened, and after a while Meg finally broke down in front of her, but Meg concealed the part where they had slept together and instead told Kaity that they had kissed and he had practically ghosted her the entire week. ”Oh Meggy!” Kaity proclaimed wrapping her arms around her and pulling her into a hug. Kaity had invited Meg over to have a sleepover Thursday night and Meg felt horrible if she had pushed her friend away again. ”You know what? Fuck him, who cares about him anyway?” She brushed the tears of of Meg’s cheek with a supportive smile. ”You are way too good for him and his ‘princess’ complex anyway love”. Meg sniffled slightly, pulling the blanket closer to her body, ”Thanks Kait”.
”Of course! I love you so so much” Kait squeezed her in a hug, her smile faltering when she pulled away.
”I guess this is a bad time to ask you to tomorrow’s game?” Meg gave her a rather confused look.
”I mean, probably Kait. Considering the root of all my current problems would be there”. Kaity tapped her lip slightly, with a frown,
”I mean, you wouldn’t even know he’s there! He’s got a whole uniform on, they all look the same”. Meg just rolled her eyes at her friend, shaking her head slightly.
”Please! Lucas asked me to go watch him. Personally! And I don’t want to go by myself.” Kaity fluttered her eyelashes, with a giddy smile.
”I don’t think it’s a good idea…”.
So here she was. Sitting in the bleachers holding a package of peanut M&Ms while Kaity chatted up a storm to some of the other girls, surrounded by a full crowd of practically half the town. She was so nervous, and anxious as she fidgeted in her seat trying to calm herself down. She didn’t want to see Bryant, she didn’t want to see his kind green eyes, lazy smile and - she sucked in a sharp breath her face flushing as she caught herself thinking about him. He had hurt her, bad, that wasn’t something she could just forget.
She nearly jumped when the loud speakers played a song and the football team entered the field. She clutched the bleacher seat as she read the back of the jersey she saw, ‘MATTHEWS’. Her stomach twisted in a knot. She instantly regretted showing up. This was a horrible idea.
