Their moment alone, among the trees and the flowers and the sunlight, with Meg's hand on her cheek, made Sunni feel light-headed and breathless. It felt surreal, like a dream. There was a moment when Sunni was nearly leaning in to kiss Meg- and then reality returned as Meg moved her hand away and said they should check on the others. She stayed quiet as Meg checked on the others- but seeing the medical bunker they found made her break into a grin and made her good mood return. Taking as much as she deemed they could get away with, she carried it back to the boat with Meg's help.

Their discovery that Tess was no longer hanging changed the atmosphere. It suddenly felt like the hours before a storm, where everybody knows it's coming and nothing can be done. Meg would surely be furious, and a force to contend with. Juggling what she could, she started making her way down to the medbay, anxious to get away from the confrontation. But a thud, a sickening sound that Sunni instinctively knew wasn't just their precious stolen goods, made her turn, already running. Vale had collapsed, and Sunni's gut was telling her this wasn't good. She reached their navigator at the same time as Meg. "No-" she tried before Meg slapped her, before shaking her head. "Did she eat or drink anything on the island?" She asked, almost ordered, at those who had been around her. Meg's comment did nothing to settle Sunni's feeling of unease.

"Somebody, help me get her down to the medbay!" She yelled, already thinking. Vale had been apparently fine a few minutes ago, so this had to be fast onset. A weak pulse and weak breathing wasn't good. Then she remembered a conversation she'd overhead what felt like a long time ago, when she'd still been serving ale to rowdy sailors. The land king's men had made a rare stop off at the tavern, and had been boasting about all the ways they were going to catch and kill pirates. Traps. Nets and tripwires and...

Poison. She swore to herself in her native language, trying her best not to alert Meg. Trusting somebody would carry Vale down after her, Sunni all but sprinted down the steps down to the medbay, where she started opening books and searching through pages and passages. If she knew exactly what the poison was, she could cure it. But the symptoms were so generic, and so dangerous. Even Sunni felt unsure, and that wasn't good.
