A hush fell over the crowd as the representative of the Plutarian family arrived. Short in stature, mighty in nature. Thirteen turned, knowing that this rather important person would have something intelligent to say. Thirteen had never liked Xalin, he had always thought him to be rather shallow and short-sighted. With no longer-term goal in mind, Xalin instead fell back on collecting what he felt was art. Thirteen knew what real art was and this wasn't it. Caging two humans up and making them spatter nonsense, Xalin must have been knee deep in forbidden flowers. He impressed so many lesser families were going along with it. Unless, they too, were uncultured in the human arts. It wasn't as though everyone had a sister who traveled the universe and brought back a taste of each culture she touched upon.
"A hunting party?" Thirteen debated aloud. Kyo stiffened beside him, clearly uncomfortable with the idea of hunting other humans. "Yes, I think we will join you. Do send for me once you have the trip configured." Pariya didn't know what a hunt meant. Similar to a naive child, Pariya was drifting through this situation with a head stuck in the clouds. What had that shady Xalin character done to her? Why didn't she remember anything? This was clearly more than just a preconceived notion that she was a forgettable, ugly thing, but something deeper. Was this Xalin's power? To lock away memories? Kyo furrowed her brow, Thirteen squeezing her shoulder. She felt that odd sense of calm overcome her, a strange, lazy happiness crawling up her spine. Be happy, her mind begged her, relax, you're at a party, everyone's having fun.
She nearly jumped out of her skin when a voice popped into her head, thanking her for helping stop Pariya's seizure the other day. Did Kyo speak plainly to her? Was she allowed to? She turned, Thirteen still talking with Xalin and and the Plutarian boy. "It's called a seizure," Kyo said quietly. "There's medicine to control it, but I don't know what it's called. Jake would probably know," did aliens not have problems with seizures? Wasn't there an alien doctor that could help cure her of these episodes? Weren't the aliens supposed to have superior medical and scientific knowledge? Or were all of those science fiction movies a lie? "Thirteen, I'm tired." Kyo whispered, tugging on his sleeve. "Leave us Kyo, we're discussing important things."
It was a few more minutes before he was done and by then, Kyo had been nearly forced to draw more portraits. She was all too happy when he picked up the leash and decided it was a good time to return to the former Buckingham Palace. "I'll see you soon, I guess," Kyo waved as she was pulled out, the drive back to the castle rather quiet. that was fine with her, as Kyo was rather tired. She walked slowly behind Thirteen, occasionally forced to speed up because of the hastened pace he had set.
Once inside the privacy of his room, a slap stung her cheek. "You stupid cat," his voice was oddly calm as he struck her down, kicking her in the ribs, the metal tips of his boot leaving bruises wherever it struck. "Stop! Please!" Kyo begged as he kicked her around like a soccer ball. "Embarrassing me like that," she had learned her lesson, she would not act up like that again.
