The night of the Royal ball had come at last. The night that would change Soliana’s life forever….

Soliana could hear the sounds of the ball in the next room as she stared at her reflection in the mirror. With a sigh she pulled herself away from the mirror and made her way towards the ballroom. ”You can do this…” She told herself.

As she neared the doors to the ballroom the guards opened them letting the sights of the grand ballroom wonder into Soliana’s gaze. But she also felt the gaze of hundreds of eyes upon her. And why would the not be. Soliana was the avatar of grace and beauty. Her blue and silver gown clung tight to her thin form. The low cut of the top showed off her shoulders and cleavage. A silver amulet filled with water hung from her neck. The water was a crystal blue in a clear glass shaped like a raindrop. Her long blonde hair was tied up in a long braid that hung down almost to her rear. The dress flowed down coming to an end just above her feet. Her feet sparkled as the light danced off her silver sandals. The finishing touches where the silver bracers on her arms and the silver tiara that rested on her head.

Soliana kept a smile on her face as she looked over the gathered crowd. It looked like a group of happy well mannered men and women… but to Soliana it looked like a powder keg waiting for a single lit match. She found her eyes drawn to the nobles of her kingdom. The young men eager to claim the throne though her bedroom…. What would the do when they found out their plans could never be?

Soliana pulled her eyes from the vultures until her eyes rested on a tough looking man with blue hair. His outfit gave him away as the commoner from her land… She knew she would not be matched with him, so her eyes moved on.

Next Soliana saw the Mithii. He was a bit intimidating to look at. With his strong look and mighty wings. But what truly caught her eye was his badge. A diplomat of his people. He could be a great help wading through the politics of her troubled Gheresh perhaps… But the thought of being married to this winged man was a bit terrifying.

Soliana moved through the ballroom glancing around for a sign of the third commoner. He was good at blending in but Soliana finally laid her eyes on the Human man that blended in so well with the nobles he was speaking with. Such a man would be a great boon to her. He was also the fairest looking to her. A brief coy grin crossed her face. Charming as he seemed…. what if it was just that… a charm hiding something…

Out of the corner of her eye Soliana noticed on of the other princesses slip out to the gardens… No that wasn’t a princess at all it was an usurper playing princess. she managed not to glare thankfully… this was to be a peace ball… Even if she hated what was done to Althuum’s rightful rulers she had to play nice… Even has her eyes drifted back to the Gheresh nobles this time her eyes on the daughters wondering which one had her eyes set on being in her place…

A serving girl with a tray of finger foods broke Soliana from her thoughts. “Would would like something My Lady?” the girl asked.

Soliana took a small fancy sandwich of some kind and nodded smiling to the girl.”Thank You.”

“You are very welcome My Lady.” the girl said before heading off into the crowd.

Soliana moved on herself to mingle while she waited for the last princess to arrive.... ”So it begins..” she muttered under her breath.
