|| Dearly Beloved || Utada Hikaru ||
Jace returned around midnight, crawling into bed. Callisto had fallen asleep with her holo pad and pen, sprawled on top of the sheets, her neck plugged into her charger. Jace sighed, "what am I going to do with you?" She whispered, tucking Callisto into bed. She had gotten Io's message and of course now the brat wasn't here, probably running off with her new favorite fling. "Can't win them all," she murmured, taking off her shoes and stretching. She and Black Jack had taken a walk along the beach, she was silent while he sobbed, explaining how he found out, about his previous owner, how he had known from the moment he saw her, that she was the one. When he was done crying they hugged once more before returning to the apartment, exhausted and emotionally spent.
Callisto awoke when she felt someone kiss her forehead. "Oh, you're back?" She smiled dreamily, met with a kiss on the lips. "Yeah, I am," Jace removed her clothing, she was warm as she crawled underneath the sheets, wearing her undergarments. Callisto curled up beside her, watching the combat unit plug herself in. "How were the fireworks?" They could see them from the beach, but Jace was sure they were nicer up close. "Pretty, I loved seeing them with Io and Dane." It was just like old times, the three of them walking home as children ran around the streets with sparklers and the sky was lit up with great clouds of smoke and lights. "You love everything," Jace teased, wrapping an arm around Callisto's shoulder. The two of them fell asleep like that, wrapped in one another's embrace.
In the morning, Jace played with her hair until she awoke, feeling recharged. "Ready for your big day?" The combat unit inquired, grinning. "You bet!" Callisto was going to sit up when Jace suddenly straddled her, prying off Callisto's night gown. Dane and Black Jack pretended to go deaf, the walls in their hotel room awfully thin. When they were done and dressed, Callisto made her way out of the room and to breakfast, a tray of fancy little sandwiches. "Did Io return last night?" Callisto inquired as she sat down, picking up a sandwich full of gooey cheese. "No," Black Jack replied with a shake of his head. She noticed a slight change in him, he wasn't wearing black, which was unusual because he always wore black. His hair was gelled back and his mask was positioned on the side of his head so you could see a bit of his face.
Callisto smiled to herself, tucking in to her food. Jace joined them a few minutes after, sitting beside Black Jack. She still had no memories, but knowing she had a brother was enough. She didn't need to know anymore about her past life, as much as Black Jack had tried to spill the beans last night. She had stopped him and shook her head, saying that it was something she didn't want to learn; not yet at least. "We need to get going, we're late."
"And whose fault is that?" Callisto giggled, rising to her feet. She grabbed her bag, heading out the door, the others following behind her.
