XXXX Nat rolled her eyes at Roz's comments about her tolerance for alcohol. She actually had a higher tolerance that Roz thought. The last time she had gotten shitfaced from drinking was due to her lack of food throughout the day. It had been a hard day of fighting off other pirates and they were running low on food. Nat--being the kind soul she was--decided to give her rations to one of the younger recruits. She didn't have a chance to reply as another wave of fire hit their shielding and damaging some of Roz's cannons. She could hear her swearing over her chatter.
Meg had been focused on the windows when she heard someone speaking nearby coming closer to her. Her first instinct was to ignore it because one, they hadn't used her title so she hadn't thought they were talking to her and two, no one would be foolish enough to question the Captain, right? She turned her blazing gaze on the girl--the new girl that she allowed to fly with her out of the kindness of her heart--and she was telling her what she needed?
Meg laughed humorlessly. "Look, Cupcake. I learned the difference between a need and a want while I was running from Et Salvos and surviving on what little I had. You look only a couple of days from the good life so I definitely don't need life advice from you." She looked the girl up and down. "Although you have some cajones to think you can tell me how to run my ship. I've been fighting off the enemy for years. I think I know how to run things."
A bright burst of light flooded her vision as Roz--apparently--decided to listen to the advice of a newbie over the orders of her captain. She'll be getting a tongue lashing later. And not the fun kind. She turned a hard glare on the girl readying for another lecture when suddenly the ship lurched forward as one of the shockwaves had hit a nearby asteroid at the same time their break was made. Meg was paying so much attention to the new girl, she had completely misheard her second pilot's exclaims of "Hold on to something!" Just as Roz came through the chatter yelling "Go!"
Meg was sent flying backward, her head slamming into the metal paneling of the interior of the bridge. At first, there was ringing. Everything was fuzzy. And then she slowly spiraled down into darkness.
Once the ship was far enough away, Nat gave a hand signal to the coms to send out the "Who's still alive" count command. She turned to gesture to her captain when she noticed the firy red-head was no longer standing, but collapsed on the floor like a doll. Apparently she had missed the call to hold onto something. Near her captain was the new girl. Her eyes narrowed on her for only a moment before she snatched her chatter and rushed over to Meg.
She shook her, felt her pulse, and then turned her attention back to the girl. "What happened?" She asked. Afterwards, she sent a chatter to Roz about Meg being down for the count. She also alerted Med Bay to send someone up to retrieve her friend.
