“The local grocery store is approximately two miles from here. If you wish, I can escort you there," he replied, earning a slight chuckle from Amaryllis. He tilted his head in her direction, his brows slightly furrowed. She always chuckled at his manner of speech, and she always teased him about it. There was nothing wrong, he didn't think, speaking the way he did, but he knew it was a little outdated.
“What he means to say is that he can show you the way if you want. It's about a fifteen minute walk if you're not driving, and probably about five minutes if you are. All you have to do is take a left as soon as you leave the store," she explained. Adrien nodded his head as he listened to her explanation. That made a bit of a difference, in his opinion.
“Anyway," she began, turning her attention to Aila, who was writing something down. “I have to get going, soon, Ai. My shift is about to begin, but I'll be able to meet for dinner as soon as I'm done. I was lucky enough to draw the short shift, today," she finished. Aila glanced up from her paper, and smiled at Amaryllis.
“Sure thing, Ama. Have a safe shift," she spoke, waving Amaryllis goodbye as she left after Dr. Calloway. “Oh," she stated suddenly. “What time should we meet you at the manor? I know people have different times they consider to be dinner, but I just want to make sure we arrive on time," she asked Arthur and Celeste. It was a valid point, he supposed. He knew Aila liked being punctual, especially if it was to a place she'd been invited to.
