In the parking deck, he had made his way to his vehicle and got inside, immediately closing his eyes and exhaling a few much-needed breaths. He did this repeatedly until he felt better then press-started his engine and pulled out of his assigned parking space and turned up the radio. The music blasted throughout the vehicle and he sang along with the lyrics. A red traffic light stopped him on his travels for a moment and he rested his back against his driver seat. His head bobbed to the music now while his fingers drummed onto his steering wheel but his ringtone disrupted the music and echoed throughout the car.
The number was strange and unusual and he did not want to answer it but felt like he should. Jayson breathed before he pressed a button on his radio that would answer the call. ❝Hello.❞ He said in a curious tone, the light changed green and he eased onward as the automatic message spoke. ❝You have a collect call from the county jail from Zachary Jensen, do you accept these charges? If yes, press one. If no, press two.❞ Jayson had shaken his head with a little smirk, pressing two, which ended the call. He had known that this day would come sooner or later but dang, why would he call him? To bail him out? To help him out any way that he knew how? Jayson did know some police officers and some lawyers that could help him out but of course, Jayson just had to see this for himself so, he did a really quick U-turn to drive back toward the police station.
Upon his entrance in the parking lot and such, he had seen a police officer that he knew, who had stopped him once their gazes met. ❝Hey, Jayson! What are you doing here?❞ The officer asked then leaned closer to him. ❝Your father is not back on drugs, is he?❞ Jayson rolled his eyes at that accusation and shook his head with a response. ❝No. Here to see a friend, uh, Zachary Jensen.❞ The police officer scoffed a bit. ❝Oh, him. Yeah, just go in, check in the front and someone will show you to his holding cell.❞ Jayson nodded his head and did not say anything further as he entered the police station now and did exactly what the officer told him to do.
Jayson was escorted down to the holding cells and his eyes were instantly on them, immediately looking for Zachary. And then, he had seen him and of course, Jayson smirked and wanted to say something really, really sarcastic but he remained silent. ❝Tsk, tsk. Why am I not surprised?❞ He had shaken his head then turned to the officer. ❝Let him rot down here. I’m sure he did something that’s deserving of him sitting there.❞ With that, they both disappeared out of sight and Jayson felt a bit regretful. Damn you, Zachary. Why do you do this to me? He thought just as he asked the officer that escorted him to the holding cell where the bail bond office was. The officer directed him in the direction of the office and Jayson went in there, making conversation with the male behind the desk and asked how much was the bond. $2,000. It was steep but Jayson pulled out his card for the bail bondsman to swipe and of course, it went through.
❝Tell our little jailer that I’ll be outside waiting for him.❞ The bail bondsman nodded his head as he got the papers processed and stood up, making his way to the officers and to holding cells to let Zachary Jensen free. Jayson cursed under his breath because of the amount that he had to pay for Zachary this time. Next time, Jayson was going to leave him there and not even think twice about it. Or would he? He was rather contemplative whenever it came to making decisions based on Zachary but for what reason? Deep down, he knew but would never express it openly. Not yet anyway.
Jayson had exited the police station now and walked back to his vehicle, where he sat down against the hood and folded his arms over his chest again. His eyes were rather focused on that door and could not wait for Zachary Jensen to make an appearance. Jayson would chirp his vehicle alarm whenever Zachary did come out of the police station and shake his head in disappointment. He’d give him a chance to explain himself, yes but for now, Jayson was going to enjoy the many punchlines and puns that he could think of.
❝Should’ve left you in there long enough so you could’ve dropped the soap.❞ Jayson said. He had unlocked his vehicle and pointed a direct thumb towards his vehicle. ❝Get in, jailbird.❞ He had spoken, hiding a smile and a laugh as he got inside of his own vehicle and press-started the engine.
❝So, what did you do?❞ He had asked before he pulled out of the parking lot, rather curious to hear his story. ❝And don’t lie to me, Hawk.❞ Oh, yeah. There it was, Zachary's gang name. Hawk was a name that Jayson used for when he was really upset with Zachary and within this moment, he was. So, Zachary should already know that this was going to be the longest ride of his life.
