He read her note again, and he smiled with a nod. "You're welcome." he told her before she headed off to the beach after her unneeded, but a respectful bow. Such a delightful child. he thought as he watched her make her exit.
Since ancient times, Greece had managed to keep its original beauty that remained untouched by human men that tainted the rest of their world with their constant, ignorant failings.
There was only one mortal woman that taught him to keep his faith in humanity. She showed him that not all mortals were evil.
He landed at the place he believed to be the only divine area on Earth. A beautiful scenic place that rests on top of a mountain decorated in various colourful, and vibrant flowers. The spot he had chosen to come to also overlooked The Aegean sea.
He stepped forward, his sandals sinking slightly into the earth beneath his feet as his eyes rest on the stone that marked her grave. The Aegean sea had always been her favorite at this very spot, and as the sun began to set... he understood why. You could see the entire city and villas of Athens with their tiny lights appearing like fireflies in the distance, showing life that had always remained, always survived through the hardest of times. Mortals were not really weak since they had the strength to endure all that nature threw at them.
Susanna could see everything up here, and with the Aegean Athen breeze blowning through his dark locks... He let out a sigh.
"My dear, sweet, and beautiful Susanna. I love you... I always have and I always will. My heart will remain heavy as I never should have left you or our children. I should have chosen mortality to be with you. I could have protected you from a fate that should have never been your own. I hope that you will forgive me one day, but I shall still love you, if not. There will never be another Queen beside me like you, Susanna, and I hope that when it is time for our son to be king, I will find you at peace in the Elysian fields, where we will be together again for all eternity." he stepped closer to the headstone that had her name etched into it, along with 'Beloved mother, wife, and daughter' beneath it. Zeus pressed his two fingers to his lips before placing them against the stone. "We shall never forget you." and with that, he took to the skies once more, and headed back to Mount Olympus.
