Madison just nodded at Jordan's explanation. Their breakfasts here in the diner were often the only time they felt anywhere near normal, and that was nice. Quiet was good for both of them. Maddy had known her for long enough to be able to read between the lines, to be able to tell when something had happened, to tell when Jordan was finding it hard. As hard as Madison was finding the thought of graduation and moving away, it was a whole different situation for Jordan. Maddy wanted to help so badly, but there was nothing she could do. She'd promised Jordan she wouldn't interfere, and she was going to stick to that promise.
Maddy just smiled at Guinevere as she brought the food down to them and put it in front of them. It smelled as amazing as ever, and Maddy inhaled deeply. The diner made the best damn French toast ever. A few years ago, her mom had a rare quiet patch in work and they'd gone away for an impromptu trip to some fancy hotel a few hours away. It had been amazing, but the French toast had severely disappointed. The food here was one of the only things she would really miss.
"This looks amazing, Guinevere, thank you so much!" She said with a smile. "I think I'm okay for everything, this is an adequately sized cup of coffee," she joked as she took a mouthful out of it. Mm, the coffee never failed to please as well. There was times when this town felt claustrophobic, when all she wanted was to get out. But then there was days like today, when she was aware of everything she would miss. Including the girl sitting across from her.
"We need to bring Kate out for breakfast one morning, I miss that kid's conversation," she remarked as she cut into her toast and took a bite of it. It didn't disappoint.
