Zinnia did exactly as she was supposed to and exactly as she absolutely did not want to. She killed the Sphinx, one of the oldest magical creatures in existence and ended it's life here with a pitiful end. The dual protection of Cascade Bau collapsed, now all that was left was Baroness Anthra's barrier, and all you had to do was tell the truth to pass it. "We come with hostile intentions." Baron Messiah spoke, raising his fist. "So let us through, barrier." The barrier opened for them as a reward for their honesty. As they did so, the alarm sounded, a blaring sound. No doubt a minor demon set the alarm specifically for this occasion. Anthra and Philan would be rising to the defense now. Near instantly a stream of foxfire burst through the main entrance of the fortress, followed by a burst of purple energy waves. Blithe and Ida were at work, using their abilities to repel the enemy army. "We won't let you through!" Blithe hissed, waving her fist to shoot more fire at their army. Vaswald grinned, throwing out her fist, a burst of ice freezing Blithe's feet in place.
"Good work." Messiah praised his underling. "Anguis, take her. Show Blithe her punishment for defying us." One by one the Generals would fall at their hand and either turn or die. Anguis's snakes reached out, grabbing Blithe by the throat, shattering her frozen ankles. "Oh, my darlings will enjoy this." Yue whimpered, bound by the snakes she could not move, she could not do anything. Her eyes watered in fear and horror. A golden feather flew out, slicing off the snake's head and pulling Blithe to safety. Baroness Philan in her birdlike glory stood, wielding her bow of feathers. "Blithe, it's too dangerous for you. Ida, take her away from here." Ida shook her head, horns glowing. "We're staying to fight! This place is essential to keep Paris safe!" Baron Cord sent out a stream of wires to try and chain her down but a heart shaped burst of magic sent him back. Even Baron Philan was joining the fray now.
"Cord, Eudaikos, and Elimine, take care of those four." Messiah instructed, brushing past them. "There's someone more important for us to defeat right now." Vaswald, Anguis, Azure, and Zinnia would continue forward into the fortress. There was one specific person they were aiming for of course. In the central room of the fortress, Queen Kitra was standing, her spear of lightning spinning in her hands. "It was about time for us to fight." Kitra grinned, lightning striking the ground around them. "Messiah, let's have our one on one as was fated." Messiah almost seemed to grin. "Why would I agree to that? Anguis, Vaswald, we'll fight the tyrant together and save the demon world." Snakes and ice shot forth, and Kitra parried them with her spear, rushing forward as her spider limbs slashed through Messiah's sword strikes. Her spear nearly hit his throat when Azure tackled Kitra, only to get stabbed through the shoulder by the lightning spear. She let out a cry as her insides were fried by the attack.
Still she held on, clawing at Kitra's arm, not letting go of the spear's tip. If she could keep it inside her, it couldn't be used to hurt her allies. "We'll make a better world!" Azure cried. "S-s-so please give up!" Kitra swung the spear, trying to dislodge the bladed tip out of Azure's shoulder when the snakes wrapped around her arms, pinning her to the ground. "A chance to torture the Queen herself." Anguis licked her lips. "My, that does sound fun." Kitra grimaced. Zeal and Frey were still in Paris, they weren't stationed at Cascade Bau yet. They were on their way, but would they make it on time?
"Game over." Messiah's tone was grim. "Now, I'll take your head." He swung his sword downwards when a rainbow arrow fired, shattering the sword. A little girl was standing there, a tiny mage. Inside, however, Kitra knew exactly who this was. "Gambit! But how?" Hadn't the mages abducted him? A magical bullet fired, striking Anguis on the head, almost landing a killing blow. Blood spikes fired out, stabbing through Vaswald's icy single wing. "The Magnolian Assault Unit is here at your command, Queen Kitra!" The mages had arrived. Former Queen Yulissa stood, with a special barrier made by Orie herself around her to keep the miasma from hurting anyone else. "I can't believe Levi ordered us here, but I guess we have a job to do." She grinned. "Everyone, we have two objectives! We save Queen Kitra, and we take back Zinnia Evernight and Yue Eldriss!" The mages aimed their wands at the amused Baron Messiah, declaring war on Messiah's faction. "Y-Yule..." Azure shivered, trembling, as she locked eyes with her former master. Was this her fault? Because she told Yulissa about what was happening to Zinnia and Yue? The white cat hadn't expected anything like this.
