Shiro was more than happy to supply all of the information that Princess Narisia felt she had missed over the last seven years. They were all just glad that she was back and safe. "I'm sure once they realize your genius they won't question you," at least not publicly. Shiro was a little bit aware of how nobles operated, their games and cruel jokes. She had never been the butt of them, thanks to the Queen, but Shiro had seen what they liked to do and how awful they could be to one another. She didn't understand why anyone would allow these things to happen, but she knew that it was best to simply keep her mouth shut and stay out of their way. "I-I can give you all the time you need," Shiro blushed, wondering why the Princess felt compelled to help her.
No one had ever helped her before. They would look on in pity, but no one would ever dare get in the way of the Queen. She zipped up the Princess's gown and tied the ribbon in the back, the dress fitting splendidly. Shiro had made a good choice, she thought, for this dress exuded a quiet power and elegance. She stepped off of the stool and quickly shuffled it away. Compared to the Princess, Shiro was tiny, but well, compared to everyone Shiro was tiny. After all, a lady in waiting should never be taller than those she served. "Yes Princess!" Shiro bustled after her, lifting the tail of the Princess's dress so that she would not risk tripping and hurting herself. Not like Shiro, who seemed to be naturally clumsy no matter how hard she tried to remain poised.
Shiro was familiar with the Vance family of course, she had sat in on plenty of meetings while the Queen was teaching her how to be a proper lady in waiting. She had been made to memorize herself with the names and faces of nobility, should she ever need to gently remind the future Queen who the people before her were. Despite many other of the palace servants, Shiro was lucky. She had been given a proper education of maths and science. She could read, write, count, and even figure out word problems, which was more than most of the servants could do. The Queen wanted to make sure that Shiro was a lady in waiting befitting of the Princess. Of course, that didn't mean Shiro was any good at any of those things, she had just barely passed the exams she had been rigorously given four days ago.
"Ah, yes!" Shiro rushed forward, taking a seat beside the Princess. "Are you sure this is appropriate?" Shiro fidgeted, but the holopad was placed down in front of her. She looked at the test, then back up at Tutri Vance, then back down. The questions were easy at first, they were basic knowledge like questions about the galaxy, addition, and spelling. They grew harder as Shiro went down the line, her head spinning. Each time a big red X showed up on the sceren, she stiffened, waiting for the telltale shock, knowing she had done something bad, but it didn't come. She continued, feeling tense by the time she had finished, getting more questions wrong then right.
