|| Fight Song|| Rachel Platten ||
Alice awoke a bit cranky, which was normal. She turned over onto her side, rubbing her eyes, feeling tired. Visions were like naps, except with weird dreams that she didn't like. "Feeling better?" Baron Pierce asked, patting her head. Alice winced, her head throbbed. "My head hurts," she whimpered. "You bumped your head when you fell, but I'll have Rene bring up something for the pain." Beside him, Monaka bristled. Faeries didn't use pain medicine of course, they took medicinal herbs and she did not like the idea of her sister taking those sinister medications. Rene came with water and two white pills, Alice took them, knowing it would make the pain stop. "It's almost dinner time, so no snacks." Monaka said, even though Alice hadn't asked for one. She was hungry though.
"Do you want to talk about your vision?" Baron Pierce prodded gently, knownig that sometimes it helped the crankiness. "There was a beach," Alice said after a bit of a pause. She squirmed and reached for Dog and Pog. "And a lady, she had white hair and wings like Ophie's." Monaka and Baron Pierce shared a glance. "An angel?" Pierce asked slowly, Alice nodded. "She was pretty," for some reason, this made Monaka mad. "Anything else?" She asked, crossing her arms. Alice thought for a minute. "She said, "Okay Celeste," and then it ended." Baron Pierce smiled slowly, as calm as ever under pressure. "Well, it seems the Queen of the Underworld has decided to pay us all a visit." He lifted Alice up, "let's see if Ophie has returned yet, I'm sure she'll be very interested in your vision."
"You don't think that could have really been her, do you?" Monaka asked, following him out and down the stairs. "I don't think it could have been anyone else." He replied swiftly, his tone light. The question was, what was Queen Celeste doing on earth? After Kitra's death, she had disappeared, more than likely whisked away to Heaven by her brothers. It was said that she had descended into madness after the death of her love and Baron King Messiah had made it perfectly clear that angels were no longer welcome on earth after they had attempted to assimilate and tried to treat humans as equals. Of course, this was already over one hundred years ago, no one had seen hide nor hair of an angel on earth for that long, at least. Human life spans were not that long either.
"I want cake." Alice declared, wriggling. "No cake until after dinner," Baron Pierce smiled, placing her down. She bound towards Sonata and Cal, who were playing cards in the parlor with the three faerie knights. They all rose as soon as their respective leaders entered the room, following Alice, who jumped onto the couch. "Is Ophie back yet?" She asked, immediately crawling onto Cal's lap as soon as he sat back down. "What game is this?" She asked, looking at all of the discs ont he table. "Poker," Sonata replied. "Raise," she tossed in more discs. "No, Ophie isn't back yet. I think she'll be here soon though." Cal glanced at his cards, "Pass." He leaned back, "I want to play too."
"No," Monaka replied from her spot. "Gambling is not something an Oracle needs to learn."
