Judah curled up tightly against the tree flinching at every sound and movement the others made. He was waiting for punishment. He always got punished when he did something they scientists didn't like. This time was one of the only times he felt like he deserved it. He'd hurt his team and his brother. He saw out of the corner of his eye Nana had her hand on her weapon and he knew he deserved it. She could kill him if she wanted, he understood, he didn't blame her.
When death didn't come and instead Ivan groaned he peered up from his arms to see Nana glaring at him. "What did you do?!" He flinched back from the words his back hitting the trunk of a tree. He whimpered and clenched his hands digging his nails into his palms hard enough to draw blood. He watched as Ivan looked around, probably for him, he summarised. Ivan would want to kill him like Nana. At least Jessie- Jessie! His gaze found his brother and he saw him as Jessie also opened his eyes letting out a weak cough.
Judah let out another whimper and started to mutter. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I didn't mean to. I didn't. I'm bad. I should be locked up, hurt, killed. I lost control, I'm bad... Please don't punish me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." He let his hands fall down to his sides as he slowly looked at the ground and in a quiet voice said. "I'm a monster."
Jessie felt like someone had sucked the air out of his lungs. It hurt his chest to move but he forced his dizzy head up and moved his body onto his knees. His eyes looked around as he took in the people. His brother curled up against a tree and Nana helping Ivan up. How could he talk his way out of this one? He didn't hear his brothers words as when he stood up he felt his head swim but he stumbled over to Judah not quite making it all the way as his knees buckled as he reached Nana and Ivan. He tried to talk but couldn't find his breath as he coughed onto the ground blood spluttering from his mouth. Sadly not for the first time.
