Four walls surrounded her. It really was quite pleasant if Elise had any say on the matter. These walls were her life, though unfortunately, she couldn't sustain herself within the confines of her beautiful wonderful sanctuary forever. Despite her attempts to plead and beg, Jeralt would never install a special bathroom that attached to her room. "I'll even clean it myself! So, um, please, can you give me a bathroom?" He said no of course. "It's important that you spend at least some time out of your room." Why, though? This room had everything in it for a recluse like Elise! (Except for a bathroom.) She had an endless supply of books to read, she had her phone and her computer, she even had her stuffed animals all lined up in a row on the head of her bed. What else could a girl want?

"Elise? Here, I'll slide the usual under the door." Elise let out a startled yelp. "D-don't scare me like that, Claude!" The former actress squealed, annoyed. She put her book down and went to the schoolwork Claude gathered for her. "I still don't know why the teachers allow this. You haven't once showed your face at the City Center." She was technically a student at the Crysanthemum City Center, but thanks to her special circumstances, Elise was allowed to do her work from home. "It's because, um, my grades are always good." Elise rarely scored below a 90 on any of her assignments. "Remember the contract?" The Principal of the school agreed to let her do this as long as her grades remained high. "I still don't know how you manage that. I study my butt off and I have trouble, but you just sit around pretending you're the characters in your silly books-"

"I-I don't do that!" Elise snapped, blushing ferociously. Did he listen in on her as she tried to bring characters to life? "It's r-rude to spy on a lady, you know!" He sighed in that way he did when he was tired of her antics. "Did you forget there isn't a soundproofing between our rooms?" The half siblings had rooms right next to each other, separated by nothing but a very thin wall. You could hear anything on both sides. "If anything I wish you'd stop so I could get some sleep." Still fuming, Elise stepped off her bed and reached for the paper. Trigonometry? Well, that was easy enough. Elise scribbled the right answers down in flowery neat writing and smiled to herself. "Psfhh, easy. Yeah, good work, me!"

There was a knock on the wall. "Before you break into song and dance, Liss, you wanna go do something?" Claude's voice sounded from the other room. "S-something? No! I'm staying in my room, it's safe in here." She fell back onto her bed, grinning at the safety of her room. "Mr. Stuffles, you agree, don't you?" Mr. Stuffles was her best friend, a big stuffed cow the size of a sofa. Sometimes she would sleep on him. "Yes, Liss, this room is the best!" She spoke for Mr. Stuffles, lowering her voice by an octave or so. "Stay with me, or I'll be lonely!" She stuck her tongue out at the door. "Yeah, he'll be lonely, s-so, um, I'll stay right-"

She was busy playing with Mr. Stuffles that she didn't realize Claude had gotten into her sanctuary somehow, pulling her away. "We're going outside. I have tickets for a music competition, and I don't want my hard earned money to go to waste." She whimpered, shaking her head. "You mean dad's hard earned money." She pouted, crossing her arms. Claude was already dressing her though, applying her make-up, giving her a simple black dress to wear with a hood attached so she could wear it over her head. "I don't wanna go! It a-always rains when I leave the house! A-and stop looking at my face!" Claude groaned, annoyed. "Can you stop moving your head, it makes it hard to get the powder right." Was it weird that her brother did this? Well, it wasn't as if Elise could do any of this, she refused to look at mirrors after all.

After Claude turned around Elise was forced to put the dress on and take off her silken pajamas, leaving poor Mr. Stuffles behind. "We're heading out." Claude said to one of the maids, who scurried off to go tell Jeralt. As soon as Elise hobbled out of the front door the clouds gathered and the rain came down. "E-every time." Elise squeaked, afraid. Claude already had an umbrella ready to shield them from the downpour. "Only a light drizzle this time." He glanced around, satisfied. "The paps aren't here today either." Sometimes journalists would hound them, wanting to get any tidbit of news about what movie Jeralt wanted to direct next, or about the Black Eagle hiding away from the world, a former child movie star.

At first Elise was very uncomfortable. There were so many people here, she was hyperventilating and hiding. As the rain poured outside the music hall, she wanted to go back to her room. Even with Claude always at her side she wasn't enjoying any of this. As the music started though, the star began to calm down. The eyes weren't on her - but rather, on the musicians on stage. By the end with the winner declared - some girl named Winter who Elise personally thought was the best one there - Claude took her hand. "See, that wasn't so bad. Should we go home now?"
