"Next time, shithead, how about you keep that bitch on a leash?"
Before Ajax could even give mason a warning, one daughter of Ares marched on over in their direction and shoved into him which made him drop his hold on Alex who stepped up to his side, her eyes watching the blonde.
Alex Scoffed, "Right... That's rich coming from the one who can't keep her own hands to herself."
"Al..." Ajax tells her, hoping she won't throw gasoline to the already blazing fire. Trinity turned her attention back onto him with a jab of her finger in his chest. He took a step back and just watched as she laid into him, giving him all her rage. βAnd you, people expect better of you." Ajax swallowed. it wasn't from fear, it was because most of the camp knew he had leadership issues, and now Trinity thought she could use it against him to cut him down before everyone that was staring on in shock. It wasn't like they hadn't seen drama before, but the way Alex lashed out at Andy, that was the tip of the iceberg with the daughter of Hecate now unconscious before Mason managed to carry her off to the infirmary. "You're supposed to be a leader, but all you see and care about is your sister who frankly, puts the camp more at threat than helps it! You're both out of fucking control. Wake up, Ajax! Your sister isn't the only one who needs you!β she wasn't wrong, and she was only fueled by witnessing her friend being hurt.
"Shut your damn mouth!" Alex growled toward Trinity, causing Ajax to clench his jaw. As he closed his eyes for a second or two to take a deep breath, Trinity pushed her before Alex pushed her right back, shoving the blonde back as hard as she could. His sister seriously needed to learn when to keep quiet. "Push me again.. I dare you!" Alex yelled seconds before Duke walked up to them quickly before another fight broke out. He held out his arms between both girls. "Take it easy. Everybody needs to simmer down." Alex's glared after Trinity, but she remained where she was as Duke slowly lowered his hands, looking between both the parties then rested on the Zeus siblings. "I think you two should go." Ajax nodded and steered his fuming sister away from the rest of the camp and back to their cabin. If he was right at thinking everyone was watching them leave, then he could feel the glares burning into his back as the pair of them walked away, leaving the tension to linger in the air like a bad smell.
She placed herself down on one of the chairs at the breakfast table, holding out her arm that seemed to be the most cut. "what's gotten into you lately? why are you so destructive all of a sudden? you were proven innocent, so you should have ignored the murder comment from Andy. All you're doing is proving them right about you. They are going to think you're better off away from this place. You'll end up by yourself if you keep pushing people away all the time."
I don't know why I pulled her out of that closet, I just... did."
"Well, this all has to stop, or they're all going to turn against us. Especially our friends, or those that somehow respect us still. Maybe this trip will do us both some good. You especially."
The door opened behind, and as Alex winced in pain from the stuff Ajax was applying to her skin, Duke entered the room. "You two okay?" Duke approached Ajax, patting his shoulder. Ajax sighed heavily down his nose, shifting slightly in his seat before he nodded and dabbed more of the medical stuff on Alex's cuts before placing bandaids over the top. "I can stay here the night, and depart with you two in the morning. I also think you should try to talk to Andy before we go," he added lowly. "Vanishing without a word is only going to make things worse."
"Al, go pack while I talk to Duke... please." for once, she did as she was told. She stood up, looking at them both briefly before heading up the stairs.
Ajax sat there for a moment in silence as he played with his fingers and waited until he heard the door of Alex's room close behind her.
"Stay if you want, but as much as I want to, do you really think she's going to want to see me or speak to me after what just happened?" Ajax looked at him as if searching for that very answer. "As soon as she wakes, Mason is going to be the knight in shining armor after being there for her, sitting by her side in the infirmary while her so-called, whatever I am to her is here, tending to his.... unhinged sister." He hated that word. "And Trinity's right... I'm not fit to lead. All I have cared about, is Alex. I haven't thought about the others much at all. It's why Andy went to him... I've not shown her much love. He has. She was lonely. He reeled her into where exactly he wanted her and knows it will get to me. Should I fight for her? absolutely, but if she loves him, why should I try and convince her otherwise? I don't own her, I just...I don't know what I want. I love her, but... I'm afraid of being vulnerable to her." he quickly wipes his eyes, not wanting to even show how broken he felt lately, along with everything Trinity threw at him. His doubts to lead even stronger since Trinity more than likely spoke for most of them. "...I'll try." he didn't want her to hate him more than she already possibly did.
He handed the medical kit to Duke and thanked his friend before he headed out the door and towards the infirmary hoping she was alright.
Wild tendrils wrapped tightly around her ankles. As she sunk deeper and deeper, the voices of those she knew and loved became distant as they began to forget she ever existed.
That was where she'd remain if things didn't change...
Cold, and alone.
Forever.
