Nao watches from the corner of his eye, watches the second strange girl watching him when she approaches the first strange girl, watches them whisper to each other before him.
It's like they're the best of friends, and really, that isn't too much of a surprise, Nao thinks.
He still has no explanation for why or how the two managed to appear out of nowhere and have not a single person either question or justify their existence, and it bugs him. Is this some kind of practical joke the class cooked up, where he's the only one out of the loop?
Him and Tachibana, possibly. He's still not sure.
Nao sits and watches the girls for a little longer. The brunette catches him watching and smiles politely, and a part of Nao swears it's just as fake as the equally polite smile he gives in response.
At least now he's learned one of the girls' names- Yua. Strange name.
The girls appear to finish their hushed conversation and start simply eating lunch, and that's when Nao decides he's seen enough for now, escaping to find peace and quiet someplace else.
Yet despite his effort to purge the topic from his mind, Nao's thoughts wander back to the strange girls in class, and he almost ignores a classmate calling his name while he's lost in thought. After the girl disappears, Nao frowns at his lack of an answer, and then it hits him- if they're students, then wouldn't their information be included in attendance records and the school registry?
All paperwork that should be in the student council room, stacked in a neat pile on the podium.
Nao heads for the council room, in his head milling through a list of the students in their class so that he can pick out the irregularities when he sees the paperwork. He doesn't get that far, though- the second he opens the door to the student council room, he's met with a familiar face:
Tachibana Ichika. The student council President.
Nao steps back and smiles. "Ah, excuse me, Tachibana-san. I just came to look at some of my paperwork from the meeting earlier this week." He lies, hoping she won't ask questions.
