"The large one was a new development," she replied to Richard and Sasha. Yue seemed to compose herself and settled into more of an analytical mindset. "There have been many low intensity attacks from the Black-Coats over the past couple years," she began, chewing on her thumbnail for a moment. "Up until now they've been mostly attacks designed to draw out specific supers if I had a guess," she explained, taking a breath. Yue seemed to consider her next words carefully.
"About five weeks ago there was a Witchfinder incident in Arizona that involved three NAHLA supers, and an unregistered. The official story that was released downplayed the intensity of the incident, but there were power enhancing drugs involved," continued Yue, although she seemed to be growing increasingly agitated as she spoke.
"It was a targeted attack like the one this morning, only it didn't go so well: three of the supers were critically injured and one was killed. It wasn't just that they knew we were coming, it..." she trailed off, struggling to find the words. "They... they... THEY KNEW US! THEY KNEW OUR NAMES AND HOW TO FIGHT US!!" she finally blurted out, eyes wide. For a moment she was back in the parking garage struggling to move while several Black-Coats held tasers on her and closed in.
One single tendril of crimson flickered down her arm to her clenched fist and vanished. Yue blinked and came back before she accidentally crushed anything, taking a deep breath to compose herself and calm down. After a few moments she relaxed her hands and went back to nibbling on the end of her thumbnail.
"Sorry. I... I hope you understand why I'm being cautious."
"Thank you Sasha-kun, I appreciate it. I'll check with Ichiro when he arrives, but I think we will take you up on the offer. It's probably going to be safer for us to move in the morning," she replied. Yue exhaled like a tremendous weight had been lifted off her shoulders and suddenly looked exhausted.
It wasn't that she didn't trust Ichiro's driving, but the thought of going out again tonight made her incredibly anxious. If she went anywhere, it should be straight to her meeting with Sairyn. She needed her powers!
