|| Dear Winter || AJR ||
They walked to the garden together, spending a bit of time alone. Most days, it felt like Winter was surrounded by people. It was like she barely had a moment to breathe. Not that she minded being with others, but sometimes, Winter missed the silence. "When are you going to play that new viola for me?" Zed joked as they sat in the grass, Winter's head on his lap. "Whenever you want me to," she smiled. It was close to sunset, the golden hour tinging everything a pleasant yellow. "Why did you hide it from me?" He asked, "the viola I mean?" Winter giggled, "because I wanted to surprise you, you told me that the viola made your favorite music. So I went to get one so I could play it for you," she looked up at him as he played with her hair, a sensation she would never get tired of. "You did all of that for me?"
"Of course, because I love you." She reached up to kiss him, her peck landing on the chin. She lay her head back down, the two of them sitting there in silence for a moment or two. "I can ask Nemia to go and retrieve it?" Since Nemia was constantly watching them in order to report back to Iris. This was to make sure that they did not do anything untoward before the wedding. "If you'd like," Zed replied. "She's already listening in. Nemia, can you go fetch my viola please?" Nemia scurried off, cheeks pink, considering she had been caught eavesdropping. The maid servant returned a moment later, viola case in hand. Winter plucked the instrument from its bed and gave it a quick test to make certain that it was still tuned.
She played for him until dinner, the two of them sitting in the grove, between the trees. She had lost her shoes somewhere along the way, someone eventually calling them in for dinner. Winter packed her instrument up for the night, the two of them having needed the time together. It was only Yuuki and Elise at the table. "Where did Kore go?" Winter inquired, taking her normal seat. Zed sat beside her, at the head of the table. "Ah, it's a shame she left without saying goodbye," Winter looked down at her plate. The food smelled delicious, of course. She would miss Olympian food while on earth, but what yould she do? This had to be done. Her stomach was already filled with nervous butterflies. She would see everyone again. Would they hate her for leaving them? Winter could only hope not.
That night, it was hard for her to fall asleep. She took breakfast with Zed in the morning, and Elise, and Yuuki of course. They ate together in the dining room and then, she kissed Zed goodbye. "I'll be waiting for you eagerly to return," he kissed her fingertips before leaving for work. "Alright Elise, ready?" Winter asked, following her to the room with the portal generator. Yuuki walked with them, since he would have to be the one to open and close the portal. She was dressed simply, knowing that her outfit in Olympia would not matter once she had returned to her body. "Let's do this."
