While the answer Devon got from Ratgarok was a lot less than what he'd hoped for, at the very least it was simple concise and didn't involve foreign metaphysical knowledge... Devon raised his rifle and used the sights to aim at his target, a somewhat calmer roach near the swarm Henry seemed to be pelting. Concentrating his thought on the projectile a single blast howled from the cannon a prelude of what was to come. The projectile exploded right in front of the roach, engulfing it in a directed pressure wave and nearly instantly liquefying the flesh hidden within that armor of chitin.

After taking note of the gross and rather morbid result of liquid flesh seeping out from the gaps in the chitin he aimed his sights on another couple roaches trying to conceptualize new, fascinating and deadly ordnance for later use in his own weapons.
