"Ah, finally," Trillani smiled, grabbing his breeches. "Men and women of science. The power of Academia!"


The river boats swayed gently. The expedition was given a duo of boats, propelled by punt. Seru stood at the back of one of the wooden boats, Captain Ash at the back of another. Trailing behind them were three more boats filled with cultist warriors. Not a huge force, but doubling their numbers for any trouble ahead. So far the river had been much like the desert before it. Flat, swaying, too narrow for comfort in parts. Every dune that surrounded them looked like the last.

From the boats they spotted movement. A baby beetle crawling up the dune, chunks of sand falling beneath it's unsteady legs. Qunith grinned, leaning over the side of the boat. Their chain rattled as they rose a rock and pelted it at the creature. It struck head on, causing the baby to bleed and topple down the dune, into the waves of the river...
