Safe on the other side of the door, Reese heaved, her head sinking between her arms with her hands still firmly planted on the door like Lucie was going to try and knock it down. Her head was light from the blood rushing to it yet heavy with regret for her childish action. She remembered sinking down in the lake, hand over her mouth and watching the watery outline of a furious Justice screaming down after her, her heart beating so hard it shook her and fireworks going off in her head. Stabs of anxiety from being seen, flowers blooming in her chest and butterflies trying to escape from her stomach out her throat. Yeah, that was definitely when she knew. Then she had her memories erased and had to go through that realization and crisis twice like she was having a second puberty. Bloody witches.
She pushed herself away, ignoring the knocks at the door, and trudged through the house, inspecting the place incredulously. "Wow, at least our fairy godmother had a cushy banishment," she snarked to herself as she walked into the living room, then halted at the sight of Freddie and the others. Without saying hi, she beelined right to her best friend, cupped her hand around the back of her head and brought their foreheads together, blocking any distractions from the easily distracted Freddie.
"Freddie, you're a moron, but I don't want to yell at you," she stated, eyes locking with hers. "Is there anything I can do to stop you from making this stupid decision?"
