Lilian's feet slowed to a stop, as Scourge asked his question. The sounds of the city seemed to fade away and Scourge was suddenly very close, his towering height leaning down so that the extra foot and a half he had on her current height was negligible.

"I'm a GREAT listener."

Her slate-colored eyes looked into the Bioweapon's for two long seconds; as if she were searching for something in his yellow irises. With a frown, she put an arm on his shoulder, "Hurt is... part of the human experience. Almost everyone hurts everyone they meet." Her nails extended slightly as she put her other hand on Scourge, digging her fingers into his skin and throwing herself onto his shoulders. Her heels kicked him lightly in the obliques as if spurring on some kind of bipedal stallion.

"To hurt is to be alive. There was the hurt of sorrow when Vicki suggested we might never see her again. The tiny hurt of joy when I hold my daughter and think she'll be too big to do so one day. It hurts to know I'm here, relatively happy when my people are still living a life of oppression."

Lilian looked up at the sky, holding a silent prayer in her heart, "We're all animals, and pain is in our nature."
