Sloane made the mistake of taking her time, letting Rocco run about a bit. She even considered playing fetch with him for a moment until she saw Lochlan out of the corner of her eyes. A knot took hold of her insides, twisting and churning it uncomfortably. It was easy to forget about him and what happened when she wasn't staring at his stupid face every day. She even somehow managed to find her way back to her old self, who she used to be before him and Sylas. But now the past had to rear its ugly head, threatening to undo... everything.

"Come on, Rocco," she mumbled to the pup as she tried to wrangle him. Of course, he was a ball of energy and thought they were playing a new game. So even on a leash, he was playing hard to get, running around her legs and barking playfully. "I don't have time for this," she grumbled under her breath.

And, of course, the second Sloane started to make her way toward the main hall she heard his voice. "Sloane, I need to speak with you," he called out. She inhaled sharply, weighing her options. She could keep walking, pretending like she didn't hear him but she knew he wouldn't fall for it. He'd just chase after her like boys always did. Stupid boys.

She should just get it over with, like a bandaid. There was no way they could avoid this conversation, as much as she'd like to. Somehow they were both at Camp Athens now and they would be stuck seeing each other everyday for who knows how long. It sucked. And while she didn't owe Lochlan anything, she could at least give him the opportunity to say whatever it was he needed to say without Liam there. That would only end in a serious head injury... Or worse.

Sloane sighed softly as she pivoted on her heels, turning to face him as he approached. Once he was standing before her, Lochlan seemed to freeze like he forgot what he was going to say. She thought about walking away but decided to just cross her arms over her chest impatiently, while shifting her weight from one foot to the other. Then he finally spat it out like a mental and emotional vomit. "What happened? I mean with us, and you. You never told me you were a god. You just left me and decided to hate me and vanish off the face of the earth. And now you're here."

"Demigod," she corrected him mid-ramble.

"I tried to reach out to you. You could've called or wrote or...send a pigeon or something at least." Was he done now? The words stopped flooding from his mouth, so she could only assume so.

Sloane wasn't the type of person to laugh in another person's face, but if she was, that is exactly what she'd be doing. Instead, she stood there with a confused and slightly offended expression. "I didn't realize I needed to spell it out for you. I thought it was pretty self-explanatory." Her voice had a sharp bite to it as she spoke. "How about I refresh your memory," she said as she took a step toward him.

"I walked in on you having sex with someone else." Her words came out harsh and pointedly, like each one was a knife that dug deeper and deeper. "That's what happened, Lochlan." Gods, she didn't want to cry. But it was like all the pain and memories that she has suppressed for years were all coming to the surface once again. Sloane looked up, blinking her eyes a couple times to try and keep the tears at bay. He would not see her cry.

After taking a moment or two to calm herself, she exhaled softly, then addressed more of his onslaught of questions. "People warned me about dating a Carmichael, but I didn't listen. I always thought it was us against the world... I was wrong. " Sloane laughed weakly at her own stupidity. "You destroyed me. I shut down, closed everyone out and was just... a void, for years. I'd rather deal with my brother a thousand times over than go through that pain again. I wanted be as far away from you as possible. I wanted to forget everything about you." She sighed softly, looking down at the ground as she kicked a small rock. "I almost did," she added under her breath.

Lochlan made the poor decision of wanting to air out their dirty laundry and in doing so he also unlocked years of pent up pain and anger that Sloane had been keeping hidden away. She didn't realize how much resentment she had been holding onto until she finally just let it all come out in a fury. So much of what has gone wrong over the past couple years she traces back to that pivotal night. If he hadn't broken her, she wouldn't have spiraled, and if she wouldn't have spiraled, Sylas never would have been able to have such power over her. That pain festered inside of her, killing who she was piece by piece until there was barely anything left. And it wasn't until very recently that she started to see a glimmer of the person she used to be. She'd be damned if she let Lochlan's presence change that.

"And don't come at me with your hypocrisy," Sloane snapped as she jabbed her finger into his chest. "You never told me you were a demigod either." He had no right to get mad at her for something he also did. She might have dealt with far more than she should have, but one thing she couldn't stand was a hypocrite.

Rocco whined and pawed at her leg, begging for attention, or perhaps sensing her discomfort. Either way, Sloane was happy for the small distraction. She bent down and scooped the puppy up into her arms, being sure to give him a little ear rub as she stood back up. She let her gaze slowly drift back over to Lochlan with a less than pleased expression. "Are we done?" she asked coldly. There was no point in hiding that fact that she was less than thrilled to be having this conversation. Unless there was something else nagging at him, she was going to walk away and not look back.
