Miette managed a faint smile at Freya before standing up and walking slowly over to her parents, Drake and Natasha Mignonette. "Hello, mother, father. What brings you to the school?"
Drake grabed Miette by her shirt collar and leaned forward, whispering, "How dare you assist in the affairs of new and mixed bloods? You know we have forbidden you to do so!"
"I'm s-sorry, Father, but they're my . . ."
"Friends?" Her mother laughed before whispering furiously, "They will never be your friends. They'll just pretend because you're a pureblood and, once they have no need for you, they will betray you. When it comes time to take part in the activity after school, I expect you to fight alongside your pureblood peers."
"Yes, ma'am." Miette sat in her seat as he parents left, feeling ashamed and hurt by her parents' words.
