Carter's heavy eyelids fluttered open to the sound of footsteps around him. His mind foggy he sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes, he looked around and noticed he was on the top of a bunk bed. "What the?" he questioned aloud, leaning over the rail spotting many other beds, with many other children in them. His eyes widened with shock as he vaugly ran through the previous night in his mind. "Oh my god," He whispered. He surveyed the room more cautiously paying attention to any details. all of the other children were still in there beds besides two. And they were all under the age of 16 from what he could tell. He jumped over the railing landing soundlessly on the concrete floor, he paused and looked around to see if anyone was coming to get him. After a few seconds the sound of silence got to him and he strode over to the barred window. "I might be thin enough to fit through those bars." he wondered reaching for them. An electric shock buzzed though his body, he fell to the floor his body withering in pain but his mind was white and fuzzy and he couldn't quite figure out why.
As Carter's mind began to clear he groaned as his heart pumped blood painfully to the palms of his hands. He sat up slowly and brought his hands up so he could access the damage, there was a slight burn mark down each plam, the sight of it made his eyes water.
Hearing the sound of running water he turned his head to a doorway, he stood up grinding his teeth and tip-toed cautiously to the door. He peeked his head around the corner and found a young girl washing her face. Startled by seeing someone he flew back behind the wall with a blistering hand pressed against his tundering chest. "Okay Carter, it's just a girl you can do this." he sucked in a deep breath and strode into the bathroom, his chest high and his hands stuffed into his pockets. "Who are you?" he asked the girl he stood behind.
