Hello!
So I've mostly done RP through MMOs, mainly wow and ESO... but the friends I've made there have eventually led to 1x1 RP or discord RP. I tried forum RP for a hot minute but was extremely confused by their format and complicated templates and I think the group got sick of me lol.
I love fantasy, paranormal, sci-fi... anything with a well-constructed world to play around in. I love character-driven RP more than action/fighting type stuff. I'd be open to romance RP but I'd prefer things to develop naturally instead of setting out saying "THESE TWO CHARS WILL FALL IN LOVE" because that always winds up feeling awkward and stilted in my experience, haha.
I have no idea what I'm doing and slightly overwhelmed by how much stuff this site has on it... but hopefully I'll be able to meet some people and write awesome stories together? ^^;

Welcome to RPG, candystar! I too am not a fan of fancy templates, as I prefer the book-like format that just pure text produces. I'll toss in an occasional image from time to time, but only for mood-setting stuff.
Also, it sounds like you came into roleplay through the real-time path, which is great! We actually started as a chat-based community, and I think you'll find a lot of familiar toolings to MMOs and MUDs. There's a whole slash-command system for the IC mode — try creating a character in a universe like the Multiverse and come back with any questions you have.
Looking forward to seeing what you create!

I've found, as a whole, most of the community here is really nice and helpful! And those of us who are fans of the fancy templates are more than happy to lend a hand! Never be afraid to reach out!
Make sure you check out our rules!
While you're here I would also recommend checking out the chat, the roleplayers wanted forum is a great place to find writing partners and groups that need another writer or two! If you like group roleplays you should also poke around the multiverse and check out the independent universes that might be open. partially-stars created a nice guide for joining and creating universes of your own.
If nothing on the site currently speaks to you, create your own roleplay! If you're unsure about the interest, pop into the interest checks section of the forum and make a post, see who might be interested.
