Jack stepped into his X5120 Marathon battle suit, and felt the metal close around him. Steam hissed as hydraulics began to work, then the suit lightened considerably. Cobra grabbed his Assault Rifle, then slung the strap over his shoulder. Next, he grabbed the attachments for his weapon, and placed them around his waist, on a belt. He put his medkit and grapples here also, then finally grabbed his Black Wolf. The sidearm fit snugly in a holster, also attached to his belt. Now, Jack double timed it to the Leviathan. A nearby speaker roared its message again and again - "All Team Alpha to docking bay 47A. All Team..." Jack chinned a button inside the visored helmet, and some music came on - Abba to be precise. Despite the fact that his 'squaddies' seemed to find it terribly amusing that he listened to Abba, Jack ignored them - the music just seemed to calm him. On the visor, various pieces of information popped up, and Jack scanned through them. Its gonna be a long wait He thought to himself - his squad always took an age to prepare themselves. And with that thought, he leant against the titanium hull of the massive docking bay, and waited.

Jayden approached the Leviathan and noted a single silhouette as he neared, 'Probably the Sergeant', thought Jayden; a thought that was confirmed as he got closer to the ship. Jayden let out a sigh; he wasn't quite comfortable being alone with the soldier that they called 'Steel Cobra'. Frankly, Jayden was as intimidated by the man as he was impressed by the stories of the man. 'Fucking glad he's on my side', Jayden thought as he passed the Sergeant with an exchange of nods. Actually it went more like: Jayden nodded and the Sergeant acknowledged, although from afar this may have just looked like Jayden simply nodding to himself.

Jayden took a seat and placed his T51-Longbow Sniper Rifle next to him, wiping some dirt off of the barrel before leaning it against his body. He looked over at the Sergeant and again couldn't help but appreciate the fact that they shared employment. He could hear some music coming from the Sergeant's helmet although it wasn't loud enough for Jayden to make out what it was. 'Probably something bad ass', Jayden thought as he looked away and allowed himself to wander his mind.

Throughout the ship the alarm klaxon went off, the speaker systems blaring out the same message.

"All Team Alpha to docking bay 47A."

In his quarters, the door to Christoph's shower slid open. A head emerged, topped with a foamy lather of shampoo bubbles. Chris peered out into his room, frowning up at the speaker in the corner.

"Merde, every goddamn time."

A few minutes later he came jogging into the docking bay, expecting the rest of the team to be waiting for him. Instead, he was greeted by a grand total of two soldiers. Sergeant Major Gulrah, hard bastard that he was, and Jayden Valor, the team marksman.

Chris took a knee a few feet away from Valor, raising a hand in a greeting, swinging the rifle off of his shoulder and laying it at his feet as he crouched. The sergeant was in his own world, just about audible music filtering out of the man's helmet. Probably some sappy crap, knowing 'the Cobra.' Just in case he was paying attention, Chris concealed his smirk, giving the sarge a nod and a quick "Sir."

Slowly, almost reverently, Chris reached into a side pouch and withdrew his combat visor. Pulling the skinsuit over his head, he slipped the visor over his eyes and hit the activation stud. Instantly his vision was supplemented as the visor's inbuilt HUD activated, scanning for threats and giving him constant updates on both his and the rest of the teams status.

Making sure his suit was working as usual, and giving his kit one final check. Chris sat back, relaxed, and waited for the rest of the team to arrive.
You know the goal. You know the path. The only thing that can stop you now is complacency. Go take what's yours.

Jack watched his squad members arrive. First Jayden approached - from a distance, Cobra saw him nodding. Of course, he didnt nod back - he just acknowledged the fact that he was being nodded at. He probably should've treated Jayden with more respect - after all, he was one of the team's few snipers - a valuable asset, who knew his place. After waiting for a short while, lazily tracing his assault rifle along the wall, Jack saw Chris appear. Cobra frowned at the soldier behind his visor, watching his almost cocky stride. Despite the fact that Jack was the highest ranking soldier in battle, he didnt decide who was on his team, IGMF Intelligence - Sector 13 - did. As Chris sat down, the Sergeant decided it was time to move. "Get on board" He growled into a tiny mic embedded into his helmet. As he spoke, there was a short burst of static. But then it went. Probably nothing - there's always interference on these ships Jack thought, then walked onto the Leviathan. He could feel the low hum of the engines, even through over 10 metres of A-Grade titanium alloy. His armoured feet made a racket, and Jack grimaced at the noise. He spoke into the mic, saying a few low words, and then the armour adjusted. Jack now soundlessly walked over to a bench, and sat on it. The steel almost bent under his weight, but it held for now. Slowly, one by one, Team alpha began to appear.

As Chris was checking his kit, the Sergeant announced they were boarding. Slinging his rifle back over his shoulder, Chris stood, following Gulrah as they walked into the cargo hold of the Leviathan.

Taking a seat opposite the CO, Chris gave him a wink, invisible under his visor. Disdain for authority was a massive part of his personality, and whilst he acknowledged the skill and tactical nous of the Sarge, even after all these years it still grated to be under someone elses orders. Leaning forwards, Chris tapped a button on the control suite installed on the inside of the suits left forearm, giving a satisfied nod as the skinsuit adapted to the environment, pattern fading, colouration changing to a neutral grey.

Peering out of the Leviathan cargo doors, Chris wondered to himself where the rest of the team were. It never normally took them this long to show. He turned back to the Sergeant. "Hey, Boss. Where are the rest of the team? Mind filling me in on what we're going into if they're gonna take a while?"

”All Team Alpha to docking bay 47A”

Renton stirred to life from the comatose state of sleep that he was currently residing in. His Eyes slowly blinked open as the lights turned on in his room. Slowly he peeled back the black sheet of his bed off his body and rose into a sitting position. His hands crept up his body and whipped the sleep from his eyes, and then Renton stood and quickly popped his neck and shoulders with a slight sigh of relief.

Renton Then Raised both hands up into a fighter’s pose and jumped in place slightly, mimicking a boxer who was shadow boxing. ”Alright lets go get my adrenaline fix of the day.” He smirked to himself and pressed a button along the barracks wall and watched a panel conceal itself in the floor of the room to reveal a closet space with all of his gear.

The sound of scrapping metal could be heard as Renton made his way into docking bay 47A. Like usual he was not the first one but surely was not the last one either, he usually took a middle standing when it came to arrivals. He could see the sergeant lead the way into the Leviathan transport vehicle, so Renton spun his sword around, the scrapping sound cutting short as it left its contact with the ground and was placed inside the sheath on his back. This was all done before taking the helmet from his other hand and bouncing it off of one of the shoulder pads worn by Jayden, pushing him aside slightly so he could pass. ”Out of the way Markey, let the team’s star pass.” A friendly joke he always used to start any mission. Next, he slid the helmet over his head and entered the ship soon after Chris.

”Hey, Boss. Where are the rest of the team? Mind filling me in on what we’re going into if they’re gonna take a while.”Renton overheard the start of the conversation and could not help with adding a little more of his arrogant personality. He sat at the back of the Leviathan as he always did, sliding his hurricane assault rifle off his shoulder and onto the ground with the barrel resting on his shoulder.

”Does it matter Chris? The star is here so we will survive. Besides, it is most likely going to be like any other mission we get, just point and click.” Renton laughed at his slight catch phrase for his part of the team. His chuckle seemed to soften lightly as he turned to the sergeant ”What else is this team used for? Right Serge?”

Jack was about to begin when Renton arrived - his arrogant demeanor obvious. The cocky soldier cut him off, and although Renton couldnt see it, Jack was mouthing some less than pleasant words at him through his visor. "As I was about to say" Cobra growled through gritted teeth, making his annoyance slightly more than clear. "This mission is unlike any other." He paused. "I will have to contact Jacobs to see if you are allowed to hear this." Jack whispered into his mouth piece, speaking inaudibly. The Intelligence officer replied "They will know sooner or later - the sooner they know, the more time for preperation." Jack grimaced and nodded at Jacob's logic. Now... how to word this he thought, trying to think of a way to say it. "Basically..." He stopped. "As Im sure you all know, Recon team Beta-12000 headed out two months ago to scout a new planet - 55689A to be precise." He grimaced as he thought of the slaughter - Jack had know many of Beta-12000, and they were good men. "Yesterday 'The Resolute' sent us a transmission - O'rein's last. It showed the slaughter of the team at the hands of... something."

Jack had gripped the team members now, they listened intently. Although Alpha were, indeed, a high risk - almost suicide - team, they had never had a mission this big. "These are the facts. The whole of Beta-12000 were destroyed. It wasnt by humans. The new species are hostile. They're gonna pay." He patted his assault rifle. "I dont care how hi-tech these sonsofabitches are - when they're full of lead, even technology cant help em." He growled. "That enough info team?"

The Leviathan flight to the planet known only as 55689A was a rather quiet one; even Renton kept his mouth shut for the duration of the trip. And, although no words were spoken, every Team Alpha member knew exactly what each other had on their mind; team Beta has been annihilated. "The whole of Beta-12000 were destroyed", the Sergeant had said shortly before taking off. Now Team Beta wasn't exactly a bunch of bush leaguers with guns. No, they were all veteran soldiers; tested and hardened by decades of military service and battle experience between the lot of them. And it would have taken an extremely formidable force to wipe out that team; a force which Team Alpha was now destined to meet.

The Leviathan shook from the turbulence caused by entering the atmosphere of planet 55689A. As the landing warnings were being shouted from the flight Captain, Team Alpha suddenly roared to life. The metallic noise of battle preparation filled the ship as the team locked their armor and loaded their arsenal. A few of the soldiers even gave their traditional hardy bellows to signal their readiness. The team's boisterous enthusiasm soon calmed to a quiet zealousness as the Leviathan touched down.

The wide shutter door of the ship slowly ascended and with their weapons drawn and trigger fingers at the ready, Team Alpha vacated the Leviathan and stepped into the uncharted territories of the unknown planet in the hopes that they were prepared to confront the unidentified and surely unfamiliar force that awaited them.

Jango was the last one off the ship, he always was. Nicknamed "Spook" by the rest of the team, the man was mysteriosu to the point of being creepy. He hefted his XC-37 Heavy Machine gun over his shoulder and fell in behind the rest of the team. No body ever saw him board a transport before a mission, but he was always there. His nickname was given in part due to the bizzare superstitions he had, the almost terrifying tribal tattoos covering his body, and his almost ghost like ability to dissapear.

The other men neither liked nor disliked him. He was tolerated. He was good at what he did, kill. With eiter his gun or his bare hands, he was a ruthless killer, and this fact earned him the respect of the other men.

Jack watched his team slowly file off the ship, filling his heart with joy to see his own soldiers ready to fight and die by his command. And although this did bring him happiness - seeing people ready to sacrifice their lives for his - it brought him a strange sense of sadness. What a strange world we live in he mused to himself, watching as 'Spook' stalked off the ship. Then Cobra spoke. He clicked his helmet mic "Alright men, listen in. We're setting up base camp here, I need the tech teams on defenses ASAP. Set up proximity mines around the perimiter, and put down some of those new shield generator things." Jack watched as the various troops scurried to various tasks. "I need four men with me to unload vehicles" He grimaced, and watched as men volunteered, clamouring for his attention. "Jango, Renton, Chris and Jayden. Thanks for volunteering." He grinned, then walked into the dark hangar of The Leviathan. The large room was filled with all different types of vehicles - scout bikes to armoured tanks. "I suggest you hop to it boys aswell" He growled. "Whoever is last out gets washing duty tonight."

Sppok grabbed a satchel full of prox mines, and stalked off to set the permieter. After laying all of the mine, he found a large tree, and sat down leaning against it. Reaching up, he pressed a small stud on his neck realeasing the seals on his helmet, twisted it off, and set it on the ground next to him. Without the visor covering his face, the white skulllike facepaint he insisted on wearing was visable. The leering demonic visage painted on his face stood in strong contrast to his almost ebony skin.

He leaned his head back and closed his eyes, letting his mind wander, to his village, to his dead wife, suddenly he heard a stick breaking behind him. Knowing he was the only one in this sector, he quickly secured his helmet, grabbed his gun, and chinned the button to start his battle mix. He switched his HUD to heat vision as tribal drums from his home village gave way to Metallica.

Scanning left and right, he noticed a large heat trail off to his right. Snaking through the long grass, he approached it from behind. When he got within seeing distance, his breath was taken away. He switched his visor off, and relized he was in fact looking at a being almsot 10 feet tall, spiky armour plates lined his body, and it carried what looked like a large gun. The entire creature was black, blacker than anything Sppok had every seen before. Thats when it turned around. Four eyes set over a huge gaping maw lined with needle like teeth almost 3 inches long. The creacher roared, and 2 more bounded over to join it.

"Discretion is the better part of valor" he thought to himself, as he slowy and steathly snuck away back to tell Jack what he had seen. He showed Jack the video his helmet cam had captured, and waited for response.

Chris sat silent for most of the dropship's flight, deep in his own meditations, the self same calming ritual that he ran through before every mission, not looking up when the Leviathan shook from atmospheric turbulence, nor paying any attention as the rest of the team started roaring their enthusiasm about closing on the planet.

As the ship came down, Chris stood with the rest of the team, calm and centred. The hatch hinged open, Alpha filtering out. Chris moved with them, staying relatively close to Gulrah, waiting for orders. In all honesty, he didnt get why they were setting up camp. That was the job for support staff. Chris was the best of the best, they all were, and he'd much rather be out in the field shooting whatever killed Beta in the goddamned face.

Gulrah was speaking, telling him and a few of the others to bring the vehicles out of the Leviathans hold. Throwing a lazy salute, Chris span and jogged back into the ship. One minute later the main hanger doors hissed open, Chris flying out at the wheel of a SR2 'Anarchy' Scout vehicle, bringing it to a sliding stop forty meters from the dropship. Easily his favourite from amongst the teams vehicle roster, the SR2 had a top speed of 140mph, its large all terrain tyres could climb 40 degree inclines, and its low, sportscarlike profile meant it was unlikely to get shot. Of course, if they did get fired on, the copilot gunner's top mounted 30mm explosive cannon and twin antitank missile launchers would soon teach the enemy what a mistake they'd made.

Grin back on his face, Chris popped the canopy, vaulted from the seat, and hared back towards the leviathan, looking to drive something else.

Renton fumbled through his gear, the punch guns from each forearm and also his hurricane assault rifle. Once fixing the gear to his approval he stood up as the Leviathan landed and waited for the hatch to hiss. When there was enough room for a person to manage through, Renton began to walk down the docking ramp. The ramp slammed into the ground as Renton leaped his first step off the transport. He could see the regulars of Alpha team flood out, like usual the well known ones were within the lead Leviathan. Renton was on this certain ship and was, like usual, the first one off.

As Renton turned and gave his gear the final work over he heard his name called out for unloading the vehicles. ”Whoa I didn’t... yes ‘sir” His voice faded from the enthusiasm as he always knew he was to take commands. He gave a weak and limp wave over his shoulder as he walked off to the cargo hold of the Leviathan. Just as he approached the SR2 ‘Anarchy’ flew out the hatch. ”Typical, take the fancy toys first... whichever makes you feel better, but we know who will kill the most in the end.” He smirked under his helmet as he knew how to get under his teams skin.

A revving engine could be heard, much like that of a really big lawn mower. As the sound neared the entrance of the cargo hold a single person sized vehicle emerged with Renton as its driver. It was a RT4500 Pit-bull with a .45 Cal cannon arm attached on the front just under the axel of the wheels. He sat on the smaller back wheel of the trice and the windshield was between the two large front tires. The Trice looked much like the name inscribed, a smaller back end where the person sits and steers and a larger broad front.

The Pit-bull revved again and then spun around to a sudden stop ”Goddamn I love this thing, what’s next Serge? Shall I scout ahead a little and get some bearings?” Renton was visible happy as he gestured like a cowboy in the old west would while riding a stallion horse, his hand reached down and patted the rim of the huge tire. He was mocking how people pat dogs, on the ribs, for a good job.

Meanwhile... Approximately 200 metres from the Alpha squad base.

''God damn it!''
Thomas had been late to the docking area and had just missed the ship, seeing it taking off, he had boarded a small travel pod and guided it in the bearings of planet 55689A. But he was now of a collision course with the surface of the planet. He had not had time to properly check the pod in his rush and he had taken an old, over used escape pod. Its wheels for landing had been blown off while entering the atmosphere. Thomas Legend was a small, sneaky looking figure. But his personality protrayed this as he was a hard working ambitious man. It was for these reasons that he was employed in the Alpha squad. Even though he was young. He was just as battle ready as the rest of the crew. And even though he had a kind, gentle nature around friends. He became a beast in front of the enemy. But today was his unlucky day. He quickly checked his HUD and sent up a link with the base of Alpha squad.
''Come in Alpha squad...Do you read! This is Thomas Legend, sorry im late but at the moment im on a crash course with the target planet. I am approx 200 metres West of your prosition. Requesting Immediate help! I repeat! Request...''

There were several moments during the time of the crash and the eventual opening of the pod. Thomas crawled out slowly. He could not feel anything. He had lost his mind momentarily and only insticts lead him out of the now blazing Travel pod. He reagined his senses and ran for it. Not knowing where he was going. Behind him a small explosion came like a sonic boom. Knocking Thomas back down. Another few seconds passed as Thomas finally regained full conciousness. It was pitch black. The HUD was gone, Thomas would have to take off his helmet. It was a dangerous move. Seeing as it was the only thing that jammed the sensers of nearby enemy units. So Thomas was now fully exposed. He could not stay here, he knew too well that the enemy would investigate the crash site. And there was no telling who would get to it first. Alpha or the enemy.

Thomas tried his helmet again, nothing. He would have to run in the direction of the base that Thomas knew was there by instinct as he had seen it out of his pod window. He only hoped Alpha would come and pick him up before something else came...

Jayden peered out into the distance. He was staring westbound; towards what he thought may have been an explosion or crash just moments before. Nobody else seemed to have heard it but then again, if anybody did it would have been Jayden. As a top grade sniper, Jayden didn't just have exceptional vision, he also possessed remarkable hearing.

Jayden was uncharacteristically distracted by some commotion behind him. With obvious annoyance in his face, he turned around to the sight of a revving RT4500 Pit-bull being straddled by one of the other soldiers. "Renton... of course", Jayden thought to himself, "who the hell else can make that much noise?"

Renton was asking the Sergeant about making a scouting run but the Sergeant was pre-occupied with Spook and his helmet cam. No way Renton was waiting for an answer. "Going West by any chance?", Jayden asked his uncivilized teammate.

Jack watched with a proffesional grimace. He slowly raised his head, then growled into the com "I need a 5 man team with me, we one big muthafucking alien, approximately 1 klick north of here" He gestured towards the location that Spook had just ran from. Then he overheard Renton and Jayden speaking. "Ah you two, how kind of you to volunteer. That makes four going, anyone else?" He looked at the squad. "No?" Jack shrugged. "Four it is for now." Then there was an explosion some place in the west. All the team looked up, alert and ready, rifles raised. With a single, quick hand gesture, Jack ordered his 'volunteers' towards the explosion - Himself, Jayden, Renton and Spook. "Lets move" he whispered, then crept towards the noise.

”heading west by any chance?” it was Jayden; the sniper always seemed to look for the free ride instead of getting one of his own. Although it did make sense as a snipers role would be to hide and cower in a safe spot and pick the enemy off one by one.

Renton smirked under his helmet, unaware to Jayden. ”May as well, the faster we split up the faster we can gather intel on the situation.” Renton reached down and pressed a button on the bottom of his seat cushion. The metal casing the cushion was set in shot out another foot and a half and a second cushion shot up and ran flush with the one Renton sat on. ”I’m warning you now though, I feel any of your ‘clips’ you’re walkin back.” Renton laughed to himself as he sat and readied himself to take off.

Just as he revved the engine to the pit-bull an explosion went off in the west and everybody had raised their rifles to the unexpected. ”Tell me you tossed a frag as a joke Jayden, this shit isn’t funny!” he slowly lowered his rifle and took the reins of his pit-bull once again, revving the engine again.

”I need a five man team…” Renton’s head dropped as he heard his captain speaking, every time that Renton spoke and made his mind up to go do something, his captain seemed to drag him to do something else and it was really starting to get irritating, he did not want to say anything as he thought he was the only one thinking this way. ”Ah you two, how kind for volunteering…”

Renton shook his head ”Called it… fuck…” He rolled the pit-bull to face north west and then turned to the rest of the group. ”So are we going west to the explosion or north to this alien?” Renton shook his head again. ’this is really uncool… I need to go kill something… I’ll break orders, it’s not like I haven’t before…’ Then the pit-bull surged to life and drove off west to the explosion. ”This looks more fun, you guys go enjoy that alien… bring me back a tooth or something Ahaha!” He laughed as hoped that his passenger did not fall off with the sudden movement.

''Oh hell no... I can't go down now, not when I can see the team!''

Thomas was fighting off his brain. Desperately trying to keep himself concious. It had been at least 20 minutes of walking for him and he had just realised that he had a deep cut on the back of his head. He only noticed it when he saw it drip down onto his shoulder. And had previously thought he just had cold sweat in his hair. It looked like a car was coming closer to him.

''Finally! They've come to rescue me!''
