The world of Marna is relatively young, its inhabitants having only advanced to the age of swords, castles, and kingdoms. Humans are by far the most numerous of the worlds inhabitants, followed by the reclusive High Elves and even more rare Forest elves. Sprites (Anthromorphs, crosses between humans and animals with primarily humanoid features but abilities according to their race.) are known to be highly reclusive and tend to avoid other humanoids except in rare cases. The last of the major inhabitants of the world, if they can still be called a major inhabitant are the Dorai. These people can consist of any race, be it human, elf, sprite, or otherwise. Their eyes tend to be a dark purple a pigentation brought on by their bodies ability to allow mana to course through their beings. Other races exist in this world as well but they are either less established or very solitary.
In the past, several thousand years ago a goddess was sent to guide the hands of this worlds inhabitants, teach them to prosper and advance. This was first done with trinkets, items that mortals could use to channel mana without bringing it through their bodies, an act that would result in a horrible sickness followed soon by death. These trinkets limited the mortals use of the gift and over time of course more access to the power was desired. After several years of requests and pleadings the goddess saw fit to bestow upon her most faithful servants the ability to channel magic through their bodies, a gift that would create a new race, the Dorai. The new gift allowed the Dorai grand new boundaries to their magical prowess, allowing them not only enternal life but the means to create an easier life for their respective sub races.
For years the dorai blood mixed with that of the subraces, this creating numerous Dorai the fabled children of the goddess. With the aid of Dorai magic the peoples of the world advanced at an amazing rate, erecting castles and feats of craftsmanship far beyond what they should have been able to create. This grand harmony was not to be everlasting however. Mortals soon became irritated, why did the goddess allow only some the gift? Why didn't all of the peoples of this world have it so easy as her favored children? These questions brought about feelings of anger and jealousy, eventually breeding hatred toward the goddess. Mortal faith in the goddess eventually failed, and paranoid ideas that they were merely slaves to these magic users spread about. With these poisoned thoughts....too came rebellion and violence.
Mortals everywhere turned on their Dorai elders, killing those that resisted and capturing those too helpless or suprised to offer resistance. They were going to take back their lives and rid the world of what they believed to be a magical menace. The goddess upon recieving words of the mortals betrayal sought vengeance, the death of dorai was to her like someone taking her child and killing it. Enforcers were sent to the rebelling cities to quell the uprisings and restore order. If possible prevent further needless deaths but it was too little too late. The goddess forces were overwhelmed, their strengths far greater than those of the mortals but their numbers so small that their power paled in comparison to the hordes of angry and confused Mortals. Eventually after several days of fighting the goddess was killed by a skilled human Paladin, a living god taken from the earth she had been sent to nurture and all because of mortal jealousy. She swore just before her death that should her essence ever be released to take a form she would wipe mortal life from the world. With her death she purged the humans from her tower, leaving her to drift in the void with only her thoughts for millenia.
Six keys to her tower in the north were formed and scattered about the eath, useable only by those with her gift and indestructible even by the harshest of methods. Two of these keys are held by major superpowers in the world, humans, and secretive high elves of the great Fenril forests. One is held by a Dorai known only as the grand master, a master of combat and the shadow arts. He is a powerful dark knight with one goal, the revival of his goddess to bring about her wrath upon mortal kind, both for the persecution his kind has and still suffers and for the prosperity of his race once again under her divine rule. The six Keys, now labeled for their attributes are as follows. The Key of Life, the key of Shadows, the key of Charity, the key of Luck, the key of Magic and the key of Sight.
Since that time Dorai have been known as the one true evil in the world, their numbers so beaten down that they cannot restablish a firm powerbase. Bounties have been placed upon the heads of Dorai, an attempt by the mortals to rid their world of a vengeance they wished not to face. Sadly....this policy hasn't allowed for old wounds to heal, and now even those that wish to make peace with mortals suffer a life of persecution. Will the mortal races empathize with Dorai somehow or will there be a bloody conflict for sole control of the world of Marna?
Key of Life: This key can enhance the healing abilities of the user and grant non-magic users control over basic healing spells. In the hands of a powerful healer this item can perform nearly any miracle outside the realm of ressurection which can only be done by a magic user of great power with the aid of this artifact near a strong source of magical energy. (Currently Held by: Raigi Fanlith)
Key of Magic: This key is the base key for all magical use, it was the first created and is by far the most powerful. It allows the user a powerful enhancement to all schools of magic and give non magic-users basic control of all schools of magical arts. This key can be used in conjunction with any other key to amplify their effects as well. (Currently held by: Unknown
Key of Shadows: Powerful in its nature this key grants the user the ability to use even the most taxing of shadow spells. It's currently in the hands of a man named Duran who uses it to help hide the entrances to the last great Dorai stronghold. (Currently held by : Duran Fe'Rin)
Key of Charity: A key known to provide an easier life for those possesing it. Currently it's held by the human kingdom and it's provided what would be an otherwise dry desolate part of the kingdom with water and prosperous woods and wildlife. It's real abilities are yet unknown but it has been labled for what it's been used for. (Currently held by: Human Kingdom of Coritani.)
Key of Luck: Interesting this key is it seems to grant its user amazing agility and accuracy. Anyone with this key will find themselves to be nimble and have fair bit more luck than the average person. It's unknown whether the amulet has other uses as well but just for this it's highly sought after by thieves. (Currently held by: Jaques)
Key of Sight: A peculiar key at best, this key has been said to grant its wearer truesight. Without this key it would be impossible to find the goddess tower high in the north. It's rumored that it can provide one with insight to the thoughts of others but this has yet to be proven as the key has never been found. (Currently held by: isafos)
EDIT: I will be placing modifications to the base storyline here as the story develops and takes different turns to make it fit with the workings of the rp.
1: I changed the status and effects of the 6 keys and trashed the fenril monk idea.
2: I've added some (rough) attributes for the keys.
Character Template
Name: Raigi Fanlith
Age: 23
Race: Sprite - Dorai (Puma / Human)
Description: Somewhat long brown hair hangs down to the upper part of his neck, Slightly darker than the short tan fur that covers the entire length of his body. Deep purple eyes with a marking above and below each are a defining feature, a strange pigmentation that may have something to do with his gift to use magic. Generally he can be seen wearing a long travelers mantle with a hood to protect him from the sun when need be. He also wears a button down white cotton shirt with brown slacks, a pair of leather gloves and a set of leather boots that have seen their fair share of wear.
Raigi's body type is much like that of an elf, tall at 6'4" and somewhat slender with a muscular build. There's no mistaking he's a male despite his long slender tail and pronounced cats ears because of his deep voice, masculine face and body. He weighs about 200 lbs, without his gear on. The only weapon to speak of on his person is a longsword that he's had since the first day he could remember, waking up alone in a hidden glade near the elfin forest as a child.
Rules:
1: No god mode (with the one and ONLY exception of a player event agreed upon by participants.)
2: Don't care if the story gets a little on the adult side but if you want to get graphic ya might wanna keep it in Private messages or IM's. I love a little romance to story but I don't wanna break any site rules if there is a rule against that here.
3: Vampires, demons, and angels need to be special request characters because they're a little too strong for this kind of rp, all other character races are welcome even if they're not listed in my description.
4: Magic is reserved to Dorai only with very few exceptions (please PM me if you wish to have a magic user of another race, I'm flexible and will gladly work something out!)
ooc: I got a little more carried away than I thought I would writing this out so I'll start posting tomorrow, feel free to make a character sheet and get started if you wish.
