The Ancients Amulets

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Raigi on Tue Jul 10, 2007 2:06 am

The world of Marna is relatively young, its inhabitants having only advanced to the age of swords, castles, and kingdoms. Humans are by far the most numerous of the worlds inhabitants, followed by the reclusive High Elves and even more rare Forest elves. Sprites (Anthromorphs, crosses between humans and animals with primarily humanoid features but abilities according to their race.) are known to be highly reclusive and tend to avoid other humanoids except in rare cases. The last of the major inhabitants of the world, if they can still be called a major inhabitant are the Dorai. These people can consist of any race, be it human, elf, sprite, or otherwise. Their eyes tend to be a dark purple a pigentation brought on by their bodies ability to allow mana to course through their beings. Other races exist in this world as well but they are either less established or very solitary.

In the past, several thousand years ago a goddess was sent to guide the hands of this worlds inhabitants, teach them to prosper and advance. This was first done with trinkets, items that mortals could use to channel mana without bringing it through their bodies, an act that would result in a horrible sickness followed soon by death. These trinkets limited the mortals use of the gift and over time of course more access to the power was desired. After several years of requests and pleadings the goddess saw fit to bestow upon her most faithful servants the ability to channel magic through their bodies, a gift that would create a new race, the Dorai. The new gift allowed the Dorai grand new boundaries to their magical prowess, allowing them not only enternal life but the means to create an easier life for their respective sub races.

For years the dorai blood mixed with that of the subraces, this creating numerous Dorai the fabled children of the goddess. With the aid of Dorai magic the peoples of the world advanced at an amazing rate, erecting castles and feats of craftsmanship far beyond what they should have been able to create. This grand harmony was not to be everlasting however. Mortals soon became irritated, why did the goddess allow only some the gift? Why didn't all of the peoples of this world have it so easy as her favored children? These questions brought about feelings of anger and jealousy, eventually breeding hatred toward the goddess. Mortal faith in the goddess eventually failed, and paranoid ideas that they were merely slaves to these magic users spread about. With these poisoned thoughts....too came rebellion and violence.

Mortals everywhere turned on their Dorai elders, killing those that resisted and capturing those too helpless or suprised to offer resistance. They were going to take back their lives and rid the world of what they believed to be a magical menace. The goddess upon recieving words of the mortals betrayal sought vengeance, the death of dorai was to her like someone taking her child and killing it. Enforcers were sent to the rebelling cities to quell the uprisings and restore order. If possible prevent further needless deaths but it was too little too late. The goddess forces were overwhelmed, their strengths far greater than those of the mortals but their numbers so small that their power paled in comparison to the hordes of angry and confused Mortals. Eventually after several days of fighting the goddess was killed by a skilled human Paladin, a living god taken from the earth she had been sent to nurture and all because of mortal jealousy. She swore just before her death that should her essence ever be released to take a form she would wipe mortal life from the world. With her death she purged the humans from her tower, leaving her to drift in the void with only her thoughts for millenia.

Six keys to her tower in the north were formed and scattered about the eath, useable only by those with her gift and indestructible even by the harshest of methods. Two of these keys are held by major superpowers in the world, humans, and secretive high elves of the great Fenril forests. One is held by a Dorai known only as the grand master, a master of combat and the shadow arts. He is a powerful dark knight with one goal, the revival of his goddess to bring about her wrath upon mortal kind, both for the persecution his kind has and still suffers and for the prosperity of his race once again under her divine rule. The six Keys, now labeled for their attributes are as follows. The Key of Life, the key of Shadows, the key of Charity, the key of Luck, the key of Magic and the key of Sight.

Since that time Dorai have been known as the one true evil in the world, their numbers so beaten down that they cannot restablish a firm powerbase. Bounties have been placed upon the heads of Dorai, an attempt by the mortals to rid their world of a vengeance they wished not to face. Sadly....this policy hasn't allowed for old wounds to heal, and now even those that wish to make peace with mortals suffer a life of persecution. Will the mortal races empathize with Dorai somehow or will there be a bloody conflict for sole control of the world of Marna?

Key of Life: This key can enhance the healing abilities of the user and grant non-magic users control over basic healing spells. In the hands of a powerful healer this item can perform nearly any miracle outside the realm of ressurection which can only be done by a magic user of great power with the aid of this artifact near a strong source of magical energy. (Currently Held by: Raigi Fanlith)

Key of Magic: This key is the base key for all magical use, it was the first created and is by far the most powerful. It allows the user a powerful enhancement to all schools of magic and give non magic-users basic control of all schools of magical arts. This key can be used in conjunction with any other key to amplify their effects as well. (Currently held by: Unknown

Key of Shadows: Powerful in its nature this key grants the user the ability to use even the most taxing of shadow spells. It's currently in the hands of a man named Duran who uses it to help hide the entrances to the last great Dorai stronghold. (Currently held by : Duran Fe'Rin)

Key of Charity: A key known to provide an easier life for those possesing it. Currently it's held by the human kingdom and it's provided what would be an otherwise dry desolate part of the kingdom with water and prosperous woods and wildlife. It's real abilities are yet unknown but it has been labled for what it's been used for. (Currently held by: Human Kingdom of Coritani.)

Key of Luck: Interesting this key is it seems to grant its user amazing agility and accuracy. Anyone with this key will find themselves to be nimble and have fair bit more luck than the average person. It's unknown whether the amulet has other uses as well but just for this it's highly sought after by thieves. (Currently held by: Jaques)

Key of Sight: A peculiar key at best, this key has been said to grant its wearer truesight. Without this key it would be impossible to find the goddess tower high in the north. It's rumored that it can provide one with insight to the thoughts of others but this has yet to be proven as the key has never been found. (Currently held by: isafos)

EDIT: I will be placing modifications to the base storyline here as the story develops and takes different turns to make it fit with the workings of the rp.
1: I changed the status and effects of the 6 keys and trashed the fenril monk idea.
2: I've added some (rough) attributes for the keys.

Character Template
Name: Raigi Fanlith
Age: 23
Race: Sprite - Dorai (Puma / Human)
Description: Somewhat long brown hair hangs down to the upper part of his neck, Slightly darker than the short tan fur that covers the entire length of his body. Deep purple eyes with a marking above and below each are a defining feature, a strange pigmentation that may have something to do with his gift to use magic. Generally he can be seen wearing a long travelers mantle with a hood to protect him from the sun when need be. He also wears a button down white cotton shirt with brown slacks, a pair of leather gloves and a set of leather boots that have seen their fair share of wear.

Raigi's body type is much like that of an elf, tall at 6'4" and somewhat slender with a muscular build. There's no mistaking he's a male despite his long slender tail and pronounced cats ears because of his deep voice, masculine face and body. He weighs about 200 lbs, without his gear on. The only weapon to speak of on his person is a longsword that he's had since the first day he could remember, waking up alone in a hidden glade near the elfin forest as a child.

Rules:
1: No god mode (with the one and ONLY exception of a player event agreed upon by participants.)
2: Don't care if the story gets a little on the adult side but if you want to get graphic ya might wanna keep it in Private messages or IM's. I love a little romance to story but I don't wanna break any site rules if there is a rule against that here.
3: Vampires, demons, and angels need to be special request characters because they're a little too strong for this kind of rp, all other character races are welcome even if they're not listed in my description.
4: Magic is reserved to Dorai only with very few exceptions (please PM me if you wish to have a magic user of another race, I'm flexible and will gladly work something out!)

ooc: I got a little more carried away than I thought I would writing this out so I'll start posting tomorrow, feel free to make a character sheet and get started if you wish.

Name: Jacques
Age: 30, looks to be early twenties
Race: Dark Elf
Appearance: Stands around 5'8" and 130 lbs, as he is of a slight build. His violet eyes are what stand out from his very black skin and high cheekbones, along with his stark white hair. Overall he is handsome, though not the one many would trust their wallet around. As an acrobat by trade, and bandit/cat burglar when needed, Jacques is dressed in leather pauldrons, but namely the fact he wears a tight red shirt and tight black trousers, along with his trademark light brown fingerless gloves and slightly bulky leather boots. His bangs are the longest part of his hair, which is middle parted, as it gets shorter towards the back. But strangely enough, this skinny dark elf carries a claymore as his protection.

Armorika castle, the most prosperous and successful city in the world, home to the water amulet of the goddess of magic. Through the presence of the ancient relic this city is blessed with a near endless supply of water to support all manner of life there. All but the Dorai themselves are welcome here, the variety of people turned this city into a hub for merchants of every kind. Nearly anything can be acquired here if the price is right and one knows where to look.

Raigi had never been to a big city before, it was almost dizzying to him, the sheer number of buildings and people that surrounded him was staggering. He had to keep focus though, he was in a place that was hostile to his kind and he kept his face hidden in a cowl for just that reason. Ducking into a nearby restaurant entitled "Danielles" he escaped the noise of the busy streets and because of the massive windows had a perfect view of his target, the Armorika keep. Sneaking in and locating the treasure room was going to be no simple task, especially for someone that had never had experience in being stealthy and very little fighting experience. There was little choice in what he had to do though so he took a seat and ordered some food. A seafood crepe and kakleberry juice, a sweet favorite of the sprites in the south. He was for the most part ignoring the patrons as he ate, finding the meal to be a nice change from the tough dried meats he was used to. When nightfall came he would make his move, but for now he would simply stare out the window at the grand castle. He wanted to stay out of the public eye and being a sprite that wasn't such an easy task, they rarely visited such populated areas and it was usually brief when they did so he was a rather uncommon sight.

"Boy, i love a good ale" the old man looked at raigi with his glowing green eyes, almost expecting some sort of response

Race: Seraphim (High angel)

Valesh turned, His cloak protecting him from unwanted eye's. He had A mission as any earthbound angel did, However it was malignant. Jaqcues' was the last of a line that had angered him by stealing from one of the chapel's of the poor, as the Angel of Fury, He had descended, And as such was stuck here, Until the Line was ended, or The remaining member's repented. His Sea-foam green eye's scanned the streets below, looking for any sign's of the target.

Raigi was enjoying his meal the fish steaming hot and drenched in a sauce that made him melt. He had to give these humans one thing...they sure knew how to cook, at least until he was rudely interrupted by someone falling on him. "mmm VWAH!?" He yelped as the man squished into him. He looked to be older and he was about to get irritated when their eyes locked for just a second. They were purple....it was another Dorai but why was he aged? Dorai weren't supposed to age...perhaps there was something wrong with him? Raigi's voice caught in his throat as he went to say something but the man just got up and took a seat next to him.

The next five minutes were the most awkward he had ever experienced the man just sat there, saying nothing until finally he broke the silence. Raigi didn't know what to say, this dorai didn't act like any he'd ever met before. "Uhm....I've never had it before....I prefer kakleberry myself." He said, being a sprite more than a Dorai the intoxicating drink was something he was familiar with. "May I as why you are sitting at my table?" He asked as he started to take another bite. This man was strange but he'd peaked Raigi's interest, perhaps a little chat would lighten the mood and allow the two to convene. He had to be careful though, the one he was here to try and stop had many under his influence and he feared that perhaps he'd found out about Raigi's plan and decided to send someone to kill him.

"Kackleberry!" the drunk exclaimed,"What the hell are you shome short of shprite?" Zanos had said the last 3 words quite louder than nessisary. "wait a minute...your eyes are purple." Zanos paused for a moment, his eyes changed to blue."your a dra...er...dre...uh...shoot, what was that thing called again?" Zanos had changed one eye again to green, obviously, his color changing illusion was becoming disoriented due to his constant drinking. "ah, never mind...hic...i gotta shay, youve got the gift, you know that...poof" Zanos motioned his hands like fireworks."shtuuf, you know whad im talkin about?"

Jacques waltzed into the Restaurant, as cocky as ever, his sly eye turned on the old man and cat person, then he turned to look at the nearest waitress, bumping into her on accident... or was it? He sat down at a table, drinking in the sights and sounds. He loved the corruptness of civilization, the peoples' needs to indulge in alcohol and food. It was a good ten minutes before he ordered anything. "Waitress?" He asked of the young woman in the apron. "I'd like a pint of the best ale in the house." What she didn't know was that he was paying her with her own money. Jacques could barely keep from laughing as she walked away, only to hear her cry aloud as she realized her coin purse was no more.

Raigi was pretty calm at first, yes he was a sprite but despite being rare, it likely wouldn't draw so many glances as to compromise his plan... at least until the man started to blab. He tensed, this wasn't good, if this drunk were to blurt out what he really was he'd be in more trouble than he could hope to handle. "Yes, I'm a sprite but please keep your voice down..." He replied to the mean lowering his voice to a whisper. "Don't mention anymore about the.....erm.... "poof stuff please, I don't want anyone to know." He said, hoping the man would stop but with the intoxication clousing his mind, it would be a miracle if he didn't get the innocent sprite hung.

At about that time a dark skinned man entered the resturaunt, Raigi's ears peking when the waitress wailed a few minutes later. Finally something to take the attention of of him, though he wondered why she was so upset. He leaned to the side of the table, taking his eyes off the older Dorai for a moment to try and get a look at the commotion. Something inside always told him to help, to be trusting, a part of him that has gotten him into more trouble than he'd bargained for, a part of him that got him into the mess he was in now. For him, kindness was a curse that rarely rewarded.

"Whell, why would i keep thish a secret,"Zanos questioned as he raised a flaming finger, then dowsing it, before anyone could notice it. The wail from the waitress finaly convinced Zanos to do something about the dark elf. Ignoring the sprite, Zanos stumbled over to the table where the dark elf was sitting, then he to sat down. Before the dark elf could speak, Zanos was the fastest gun in the west for talking.

"What the hellsh the matter with you?" Zanos said rather to loud, as he had been talking for the past bottle or so, that's how he measured time, amount of bottles drank between sun shift."If your gonna shteal from a girl, then you can't go torturing them about it, don't you have any shense about you?" to emphasize his point, he flicked the dark elf in the forehead.

"Oi, see here." He said glaring, whispering towards the old man. "I was going to leave her purse with the missing money as a tip."
Jacques laughed after saying this. People oftentimes took him for a bad sort of person, but he really just enjoyed fooling with everyone.
"You've apparently never seen how I go about things, do you?" He asked cockily, drinking a good quarter of the tankard of ale in a gulp.

Zanos probably should have let the events play out, probably should have waited to see if this elf had any pure intentions, but Zanos was much to far into his drink for that.

"fine shony, if you want to treat me like shome urchin, or a shewer rat," Zanos's eyes phased through colors as his head bobbed from side to side, " then i'm going to teach you some manners." Zanos's head reared back, then his eyes grew straight out of his head, Bulging and still increasing in size untill they resembled giant spheres. They then exploded with a loud BOOM, the air around Jacques whipped at his face, tentacles shot out of the remaining eye parts, then wrapped around Jacques's mouth, making him unable to scream, then, in an instant, jacques blinked, and everything was as it was before, except Zanos had passed out and was snoring loudly on the floor.

Spreading his wings and releasing his cloak Valesh took flight, He did not care for stealth anymore. Wings beating in a stedy motion just enough to keep him where he was, no higher, no lower. then began the spiraling descent, He needed to look like a divinity, Looks where everything in this corrupted world the goddess had created. Oh his goddes, the creator of life, The angels where created at the begining of this world, to act as her herald, yet now that she is dead, gone from this place for a time, they where enraged. They had their purpose ripped away from them, and now pure hate replaced it. Landing His voice rose above the crowd, using the Very little magic alloted to the angels. "In the Name of the returning goddes I DEMAND the A theif Named Jaqcues is brought before me! " Although rage and hate where his lifeBlood, He did not realize that people where without their uses.

Jacques laughed on the inside. Another Dorai was here to try to scare him with his magics? Pissed off, Jacques stood up, dropping the girl's purse onto the table. He went out into the street, shaking his head, only to be met by what seemed to be an Angel.

Glaring into the Eye's of what appeared to be his target, Valesh frowned, Pathetic looking, as are the rest of them. "Who are you that steps before me Dark Elf? If you Are Jaqcues I demand you repent your ancestors sin, or die!." Of course he would be killed anyways, but to hear him squirm, to hear his suffering and Humilation, would make it all the sweeter

"I don't give my name to someone who won't give me his. I'm not repenting for anything. Hey, if I took your stuff, don't feel bad. I take everyone's stuff." He shoved the angel out of the way, not caring what would happen. "See ya."

Jacques walked away, everyone on the street giving him a good foot of space. No easy targets today, he noticed. Jacques decided it would be best if he just did a little... Performance in the city square. People loved Jacques when he was an acrobat, not so much when he broke the law. But he decided he wasn't in the mood. This town was so boring! Not enough idiots, lechers and harlots. He sat on a bench, sighing.

Raigi was nothing short of shocked. He looked down at the man on the floor and around the inn, people were staring at them wide eyed and with fear. Dorai were held as the one true evil in this world and the odd dorai that aged had just revealed himself. With the people still in shock Raigi tried pulling the older man onto his back piggybacking him out of there before the townsfolk had a chance to react. If he got caught his purpose would be compromised and if the old man was caught he would feel guilty. He darted out into the city streets only to be met with yet another shocking sight.

An angel, the legendary angels of ages past, creatures only believed to exist in myth. This was truly an odd day, Dorai and angels showing themselves in the greatest mortal city in the world. Everyone had spread out giving both Jaques and the angel plenty of room but Raigi was stuck dumbfounded between an angry angel and his target. His eyes were wide with suprise as he stared at the mythical being of purity.

"Boy, you find yourself mismatched in all ways, yet you mock me? you would dare further the wrath of divinty?"
