When he mentioned the Santa Maria she was shocked. Stepping back she looked up at him wiht a mock glare.

"You have been holding out on me, il mio dolce. And all this time I thought you knew nothing of La Republica Serenissima."

She put her hands on her hips in exagerated indignation.

"Dinner first, I am famished, then the Santa Maria. But you get to tell me what you know of it this time. Consoder it a quiz, il mio pulpil."

She wrapped her right arm around his waist and pulled him to her as she walked away from the bay along the loggio.

He laughed as she pulled him closer. He welcomed her forcefullness and his arm immediatly went around her shoulders and he kissed her forehead. He grinned as the headed off down the street.

"I don know much about Venice, mon amour, but I know de basics. Be dat is after dinner conversation."

He smiled. He truely didn't know much about Venice, but he knew as much as one should. As much as one learned in Geography class atleast. He began to swing her arm overdramatically as they walked. He swung their hands as far as her shoulders would allow as he took exteremely large steps so Seraphina had to hurry to keep up. He couldn't help but grin.

It was all she could do to keep and even pace with him At one point she stopped dead in her tracks only to be lunged forward as he took another large step, almost landing on her face. She laughed. She liked the sound of her voice as it echoed up the walls of Venice.

"Il mio caro, I hope you know where we are going,"

She cajoled. She was ecstatic.

As he pulled her along, playfully she began to wonder to herself.

"Gabriel, do you fence?"

She said scurrying up to him.

He stopped dead in his tracks before stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jeans and looked over at her. He squared off to face her and with a grin bent at the waist to lower his face to hers. His long brown bangs fell into his eyes as he smiled at her.

"Why do you ask mon Cher?"

He looked her over with his vibrant green eyes as he waited for his reply.

He stopped so quickly that she almost ran into him. As he bent down to look her in the eye, she knew she was being sized up. I have made a tragic mistake. She met his gaze without wavering.

"The way you move, Signore,"

She bagan with a haughtiness and mock formality

"It was a simple observation of how much ground you could cover."

She smiled broadly.

"Epe', foil, or sabre?"

His eyes gleamed for a second before he stood back up. He smiled and tossed the bangs out of his eyes as she stood infront of him. He looked off to her side an saw a metal rod about five feet in length. He began to strole over to it.

"Neit'er Cheré."

He bent down and picked up the rod, with a remarkably quick spin it was in both hands. Gabriel then spun it backwards, then off to his right hand, around his back, and to his left hand. He then reversed the direction of the spin in his left hand before taking a quick swing. The metal rod stopped meer inches away from her cheek.

"But I 'ave picked up a little bocado in my time."

He tossed the rod to the ground behind him and kissed her cheek where it almost hit her.

As he spun the rod about, she tried very hard to not look impressed, but could not stop a raised eyebrow in appreciation for his skill. Well so much for the fencing salons of Florence. She saw no sign in his movements that he was going to swing at her until just before it stopped at her cheek. It took all of her descipline to not obviously flinch. She didn't breathe until he tossed the rod away. She closed her eyes and sighed in relief as he kissed her cheek. Never did she feel threatend, except for her pride.

"My, that was, uh, impressive, and I thought I had a strong parry and a good rippoze' ."

She smiled at him and shook her head. As her eyes wondered over his body she thought, Mio Dio! He would be an amazing fencer. She took his hand in hers, marvelling at what he done with them.

"SO, what are you in the mood for. I am sure we can find a place between here and San Polo."

He smiled at her as she took his hand and fingered the crucifix around his neck to make certain it was still there. When she asked him what he wanted he laughed out loud. In truth, he felt like Chinese, but how do you tell the woman you are in love with, while you are in Venice, that one feels like a romantic dinner at a Chinese dive. He laughed again and figured she would understand.

"I know dat we are in Venice Cher, an no offence to Italian, but in all 'onesty I feel like Chinese."

He looked at her as they walked he tryed to catch her reaction to see if he should turn it into a joke or not.

She picked up the gauntlet.

"SI, Chinese? Hmmmm, take out or dine in?"

She couldn't think of a chinese place between the Piazza San Marcos and San Polo, but there had to be one. On this she could not disappoint him.

He smiled as she replied. Gabriel did his best to quickly slide in another statement as she though.

"If you don feel like Chinese, we can always get somt'ing else mon Cher. I am no a picky eater."

He smiled as she reached up and kissed him. As she pulled away she kept her right hand upon his cheek and looked into his eye. He smiled at her warmly. The smile came to his lips naturallly. He was barely aware that it creased his face. Then it widdened when he became fully aware of it. They continued to gaze into eachothers eyes as he patiently awaited her reply.

Looking into Gabriel's eyes she was perfectly content. She knew they would have a riot in Florence. She didn't take hre eyes off of him as she spoke.

"I can do Chinese. I happen to love Mandarin cooking."

She reached up and placed her other hand on his cheek and kissed him again.

"I just have to find a restaurant. I am sure one of the Gondoliers would know."

She had always loved to travel by gondola, but whith him is was a magical experience. She let her hands linger on his face for a few more moments before letting them slide to his chest and rest on the crucifix. She liked the way it looked on him., and she had felt lighter since parting with it.

"Come one, My love."

She said taking his hand in hers and shooting hima flirtacious smile.

He smiled as their kiss parted. Her kisses had a way of melting the earth around them into nothingness. Just the two of them mattered for that brief moment in time. His grin widdened as she told him to follow her. How could he say no to such a beautiful and sudductive smile. His mind wandered for a moment to business, but quickly came back to her. He caught up with her and warpped his arm around her waist pulling her in closer. He kissed the top of her head as they walked. He had no idea where she was taking him, so he just kept silent and followed.

She smiled when he kissed the top of her head, despite feeling short. With his arm around her she decided to not take a gondola and try to find a place herself. It was exhilierating meandering through the streets of Venice with him. Eagerly she yearned to take him to Florence. The morning couldn't come fast enough for her. But dinner first.

She led him through street after street her eyes darting this way and that seeking Chinese food. The only consistency in the direciton they were going was towards San Polo. After a good 15 minutes of searching she spotted a neon green and red dragon. Il Drago was wrtten vertically down the back of a large winding chinese dragon.

It was a newer brick building probably built after the turn of the century, the large windows in the front showed the place to be mildly busy. On the walls hung the sterotypical decor of a chinese resteraunt. From the Ceiling the cliche red chiniese lanterns hung down.

She let go of Gabriel and stood just to the right of the door, with the palms of her hands turne upwards she gestured to the eatery
.

"I may not have found the best Chinese place in Venice, Caro, but there you are."

She smiled broadly proud of the fact tha she had found her quarry. But she had know Idea where they were. Great I got lost in Venice. After dinner find the Canal.

He smiled at her. She had done it again. She had found just what he wanted. With a grin he hugged her.

"You are absolutely fantastic my love."

He said before placing another kiss upon her forehead. He then held the door open for her as she wandered inside. He followed her in and a waiter hurriedly ushered them to a booth beside a window. He took a seat across from Seraphina in the plushie red booth as the waiter set menu's down and assured the two he would be back soon.

"W'at do you feel like mon Cheré?"

A beeping sound could be heard, that interrupted the many hours of romance the two were having. Bringing them back to the reality of the errands around them. It was Seraphina's communicator. A message from Binta Bah, one of the Preventers.

"Hello Ms. Alighieri. I’m currently landing in Ireland. I hope to speak to you after my errands in Ireland. Thank you, Binta Bah."

Seraphina smiled as she debated giving him the answer she truly felt about she wanted. She smiled at him making sure that she had his full attention as the idea of her true desire became known through her brown eyes.

The perfection of the moment was oblitered by a beeping sound
.

"Scuzi."

She pulled a small black communicator form her pocket, and read the message From Binta Bah. Her eyes grew distant and cold, for a moment, as the corners of her mouth turned down into a slight frown. Quickly her smile returned though it was obviously mildly forced.

She looked Gabriel in the eye a hint of sadness was there. I somehow expected he would be the one to be called away. She started sliding out of the booth.

"I am sorry, Gabriel, my love, I have to respond to this."

She walked outside as nonchalantly as she could manage. She stood to the left of the door with her back turned to him.

"Signora Bah, if needed I can meet you in Ireland. Just let me know where and when. Grazi, Seraphina Alighieri."

She took a few deep breaths trying to calm herself and ressurect the atmosphere of just mements ago. It was no good. If Binta had called her something must be up. She ran both her hands through her hair nervously, wonderng what she should tell Gabriel. He knew she loved him so much that she could not longer be idle, he knew her past. She knew the risks he took all too intimately, and that she couldn't live without him. He also knew that she would try to keep the peace. OK, if he asks the truth I guess. Come what may.

She ran her hands through her hair agian, making it fall alluringly across her shoulders, framing her face. She breathed deeply again and turned to walk back in.

When she saw Gabriel looking at her through the window his face the perfect visage of genuine concern, she smiled, genuinely. Still nervous and surprised she walked back in and sat down.

A few minutes later, another beeping and the message came through.

""Oh don’t hurry yourself dear. Hopefully I didn’t make my message feel so urgent. But I am going to check into the Ballygarry House Hotel in Tralee, Ireland. You can meet me there, if you get the chance. Just contact me in advance, just in case I’m out, on my mission here in Ireland.

He smiled as she left and nodded respectful of her privacy. When she returned he grinned at her and kissed her hand smiling up at her. His green eyes shimmering. He knew something had transpired in the last few minutes.

"Welcome back my love."

He said as she slid into her seat putting his arm around her. Then her bag went off again.

"My love, if I am keeping you from somet'ing..."

She had just realxed into Gabriel when her communicator went off agian. She sighed deeply knowing that this was the end, She kissed him lightly on the cheek, and pulled out the little black device. Quickly she read the message from Binta.

"Scuzi"

She slided away form him again and went outside

"I am glad that it is not urgent, but I will leave tomorrow for Ireland I will call you once I know whne I will be arriving. Better now then later. Grazie, Seraphina Alighieri.

She walked back into the eatery and over to their table. She didn't sit down but leaned over him and whispered in his ear. There was a sadness in her voice..

"My love, I will have to cancel our trip to Florence, I must go to Ireland tomorrow. But you still owe me for cleaning a horse."

She flashed him a wicked smile. Her eyes spoke of her intent, and if he didn't see it in her eyes the kiss she gave him spelled it
out.

"shall we get this to go?"

She had once again caught the sly frenchman offguard. He blushed a deep crimson and shot to his feet. Taking her hand.

"Very well mon amour."

He knew exactly what she wanted and he grinned like a school boy. He rose his arm to signal over the waiter.

"'ow long for take out?"

Before he knew it he was kissing her pationatly on the steps of her hotel holding a bag of cooling chinese in one hand, her back in the other as he enjoyed the night despite the thought that they may never meet again.
