A dark grey Aries Mobile Suit blew across the sky at the highest velocity Gabriel felt comfortable with. He maneuvered a little off to the left and began to lower his altitude. Gabriel knew he was okay to leave Xavier back in the North American nation by himself. He was getting his newly founded Leo together. Gabriel decided to retreat to a secluded area he knew outside of Venice Italy. The large Mobile Suit came to a powerful halt in the forest 25 miles outside of the city. Gabriel reached the hand around his back and removed a large metal staff. He looked it over. It was Gabriel's new toy. With a click of a few keys on his keyboard lights flickered on and with a heavy press of a single key a click was heard and a beam blade erupted from the tip of the staff to mimic a scythe. Gabriel smiled and made the Aries do a few swipes with it to get the feel.

After a few training exercises Gabriel clicked off the scythe and replaced the rod on his back. Clicking a few keys he made the Aries kneel down in the woods to make an attempt to keep it from being noticed.

"Computer, register voice activation. Gabriel Faile."

"Voice registered."

Gabriel popped the hatch of the Aries and lept to the ground before lighting a cigarette. He took a few drags and leaned against the leg of the Mobile Suit and grinned. He enjoyed the scythe. It was a nice modification. Gabriel pondered about seeing Venice as he continued to smoke. He had never been. He looked at his wrist and decided that he had time while he waited for Warrius contact. Nodding to himself he pushed up from the leg of the suit and flicked the smoldering filter from his fingers and started off towards the city.

The Train squealed to a stop in the Venice Rail Station. Seraphina stretched, then checked her watch, only 45 minutes had passed since she boarded in Florence. The day was till grey but the smell of the lagoon was refreshing. she stood up and picked up her bag and disembarked. Breathing deeply of the briny air she walked to the cab stand and hopped in.

"The Carlton on the Grand Canal, favore."

"This should be fairly easy in its own right." She reached down and pulled the camera from her pocket and counted the memory cards in its storage compartment, "plenty of memory for the camera. Grab Coffee and head to San Marcos."

She checked into the hotel without incident, dropped her bag off in her room, and ran downstairs to catch another cab for the Basilica.

Once at the basilica she stopped outside to admire the garishness of the gold leaf that had become world famous. The First thing she tool a picture of was the four horses brought back from Constantinople.

Gabriel stepped on to the lot of the Basilica. He looked the giant gold leaf at it's entrance over and turned his attention the the four horsemen. He smiled to himself as he made his way over to them. He slid his hand along the first one and mumbled to himself.

"Mort, Destruction, Faim et Fléau."

He whispered as his hands traced over each of them in turn. He was fascinated by these relics. It was said that when these statues were destroyed that the world would end.

"Semblable tombes..."

He whispered. Then there was a click of a shutter. Looking up Gabriel saw the most breathtaking woman. His jaw dropped before he could catch himself. When she caught his eye he looked to the ground and stepped out of the line of view of the camera and slipped a cigarette between his lips.

"Grazi, Singore."

She said blushing, noticeably. She let her eyes rest on him for awhile, before raising the camera for a second of the horses. After getting the picture she walked over to the man.

"Grazi, Signore. Though I do think I got you in the first shot, I am sorry for that."

She raised her hands to her mouth and blew warm air across them.

"You are an admirer of the horses I see."

He looks up at her and pauses for a moment. With a large drag he watches her blow upon her hands. Exhaling he cocked his head to the side.

"Not a problem Cheré. I don mind at 'tall."

He replied smiling warmly. Taking another large drag he brushed his hand over Pestilience.

"Not most 'orses. Jus these four in particular. Den again you would 'ave to be stupid to not admire, an respect des riders as well. No?"

His gaze changed to her as he leaned upon Famine now look into her eyes. His eyes crafted a playful glow as he wondered if she knew any more about these then most. Most people assumed they were just statues. These were, special.

She smiled knowing this was no ordinary admirer.

"The end of the world sits upon the back of those horses, an have since Constantinople was sacked."

She waved the cigarrette smoke away from her face.

"You are quite knowledgable, Signore'."

She smiled warmly at him.

"He knows his lore, so few do." she mused.

She bagn to nercously spin the crucifix at her, while shoveing the camera and other hand deep into her pockets.

"Is it the horses that bring you, Singore'......"

He released a full hearted chuckle at her request and her remarks. His smile grew as she spoke.

"Dat dey 'ave Cheré. You know your 'istory. Not so many as wise gaze upon des markers of deat every day an no not w'at dey see."

He grinned and put out the almost full cigarette on the back of Destruction. He thought it was fitting for a little vandalism to be on that one. He stuffed the rest of the smoke into his pocket. He rose from his position leaning upon one and changed his tone from playful to serious as he stuffed his hands in his pocket and started closer to her.

"No Cheré. I am 'ere for de beauty, no for de lore. Jus a break from work."

He smiled as he stopped in front of her.

"Et toi?"

She shot him a black look for putting out his cigarrette on destruction, but accepted it knowing worse had been done to them, that and she might get to stay a few more days if she had to restore it.

"Signore', you have just made more work for me this week, it is not easy to repair centuries old art."

She smiled inspite of herself. She indulged herself in looking him ionce over, figuring he had stopped to be polite.

"I am here to take photos fot the Dutch Institute of Fine Art in Florence. Which is like a vacation for me, Signore'.

He looked her over and took in her words quietly before replying.

"I am glad dat you will be enjoying your time, but if I 'ave made more work for you, den per'aps you would 'onor me wit your company dis eve."

He bowed and took her hand. He gently kissed the back of it never taking his eyes off of her.

"Gabriel Faile, of de Faile et Tristram decendance."

Seraphina, turned obviously crimson, as his lips brushed the back of her hand. Her hand shook subtly and her heart jumped to her throat.

"Three years of living like a nun, and you bring me nobility, Mio Dio! Such is the nature of amore'." She thought.

"I am Seraphina Alighieri, and I would love you company this evening."

Ah la Serenissima, she thought

He smiled as he rose back to his full height. And looked her in the eyes.

"Per'aps you know a spot. You appear to know Venice better den I do Cheré."

He grinned to himself thinking over the events of the day. He had come here to train and he had gotten himself a date. Better not get attached though, battle will come, and he wouldn't want to dissappoint anybody by doing something like dying. Breaking a heart is not a well taken thing, as he has seen recently in his good friend Xavier.

Coyly she looked to the ground, and smiled warmly. Tilting her head to one side she momentarily drifted back to Florence in spring, and another dark haired young man.

"You are quite the gentleman, Singore Faile". Her Italian accent mangling his french name, "If you would like a good Ocean view and exquisite seafood I would recommend the Restorante' Riviera. It is a quick Gondola ride from here to the Scuola."

She took her hand from his to brush her bangs out of her face, throwing him a discrete come hither glance.

"Of course I would like to, ah Freshen up, I just got off a train from Florence."

La Serenissima, how my heart goes awry here. Such beauty such romance. She mused

She breathed deeply to regain her cool composure.

Not now, I do not need another heart break now. I know the horses will fall. she thought

A dark Shadow passed over her eyes before looked again at Signore' Faile.

"Is that alright with you?"

He smiled at her and brushed his own hair out of his vivid green eyes before looking at the ground and nodding.

"Sounds fantastic to me Cheré. W'en shall I meet you at your 'otel? If I am to keep you t'ink dat I am a gentleman den I suppose I should pick you up."

He replied with a mocking, yet playful smile as he thought of dinner with her. He took the cigarette back out of his pocket noticing the wind had changed direction, by the way it blew her bangs. He lit it again knowing he would blow it with the wind as to not get it in her face this time. Wouldn't want smoke clouding her beauty.

She smiled at him trying to hide the blush that again was rushing over her face.

"I am staying at the Carlton on the Grand Canal give me an hour, I will meet you in the lobby of the hotel, Signore' Faile".

And of course I didn't pack anything to wear. I go to Venice I find a man, I am not dressed for it. Che cosa sono io che penso, he's beautiful he's kind. Madre della Mary del dio.

She locked her eyes on Signore' Faile's and pressed both of her hands to her lips, palms touching as though in prayer.

He smiled at her as he took a large breath of smoke before replying in his serious tone again.

"Very well Cheré. De Carlton in one 'our."

He flashed her a smiled and disappeared into the crowd almost immediately as he turned his back.

Gabriel made his way downtown with a smoke between his lips and his fists shoved into the pockets of the black jeans he wore. He smoked without taking the cigarette out of his mouth as he wandered aimlessly down the spectacular streets of Venice alone. He wondered if he should get dressed up as he peered at a black suit through the glass window of a building. He smiled to himself and nodded.

After purchasing the suit he headed back to his Aries were he changed into the black pants and white dress shirt. His black tie stood out, yet blended with the black blazer he threw on over top. Hopping up on the arm of the MS he looked at himself in the visor of the Aries and made sure he looked all right for dinner.

An hour passed. Gabriel stood in the lobby of the Carlton dressed in his suit checking his silver watch upon his left arm. He heard footsteps coming down the wondrously dressed staircase behind him. Gabriel turned around and his mouth fell open.

Seraphina rushed back to the hotel as fast as she could, and plunged into her bag for something wear. Realizing her first instinct was right she called the front desk for the nearest dress shop. It was a block away. Rushing to the shop she purchased a simple black sleeveless dress the hugged her curves adn flattered her ample bosom, and a pair of black heels. Rushing back to the room she showed and did hair and make up. She left her waist long hair down and allowed it to tumble over her shoulders and down her back. With the final touch of red lipstick she grabbed her purse and headed out. Intentionally leaving her black jacket behind.

As she started down the stair to the lobby her stomach was full of butterflies. She rubbed her crucifix once for luck and headed down the stairs. About half way down she saw green eyes that she recognized. He took her breath away, and Florence's spring danced in her mind with Gabriel instead of Him.

"Stunning" she whispered as she extended her hand to him n the last stair.

Like the gentleman Gabriel was raised to be he instinctively took the hand and bent at the waist noticable as she got down the stairs. He smiled at her as he righted himself as they faced off. He bowed again with his right hand behind his back and kissed the back of her hand as he had done in the square, but with more sincerity this time around.

"La fleur la plus belle de tout, simple wonderful Madame."

He spoke as he rose back to his full height and continued to smile at her trying to keep his jaw from dropping. This pretty photographer he had met in the square had transformed herself into the most beautiful princess in a meer hour. He was not only shocked by her beauty, but impressed with her speed and the results. It took a lot of effort not to grin like a school boy as they entered the street.

Blushing from bodice as Signore Faile kissed her and she smile broadly. When he looked her in the eye his green eyes took her breath away.

I am so much trouble

She allowed him to lead her into the street.

"Signore Faile, I hope you don't mid the trip by gondola, it is the best way to get around Venice."

She led the way to the Quay where she hailed a gondola. She could barely keep her eyes off of him. She squeezed his hand in hers as the Gondola stopped for them.

To think a stranger in Piazza who knew the horses now has my hand, I must be mad

She let him help onto the rocking Gondola. She feigned slipping to fall into him. Before sitting in he back beneath the canopy.

"Signore' De Scuola, IL sen so lung Favore'".

He smiled helping her down into the gondola. As he took a seat beside her under the canopy he witnessed the extent of her language.

"'Tis a good t'ing dat you know Spanish Cher, I 'ave no idea w'at most people 'ere are telling me. Speaking only de two languages I mean."

He caught himself rambling and blushed very faintly before taking her hand again and sitting it upon his knee. He looked over at her, her beauty was truely overwhelming. Without even thinking about it he brought her hand to his mouth and placed a soft kiss on her thumb still entranced by her lustrus eyes.

She simply stared at him smiling, almost unable to breathe or speak. She had become pliable, the coldness that she had wrapped herself in melted away as he kissed her hand again. She took her hand from his knee and pushed her back behind her ear. SH leaned forward and placed her lips right against his ear.

"Signore' is is Italian," she whispered to him.

Then she laid her head on his shoulder and listened to the lapping water in the silnce.

"Signore Faile', how did you know about the horses?"
