[Angalia] - The Golden Age

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Mikhos on Sat Jun 16, 2007 7:50 pm

OOC: We'd love more people to join, so go ahead. And you don't need to read ALL of this main post (though it would help!), nor the story, most of the characters would be willing to let you know what has happened if you PM 'em.

The world is large, with two main continents, the larger split into two countries, Vas'Hilld to the south with temperate conditions, and Tundoira with a permafrost. The southern continent is Mologra, home of the great desert and hot springs and many volcanoes. Several chief Islands are Raaf, the deserted ice island, Van'Sinien, the supposedly golden city of the elves, and Fen'Era, the island of Sailors. The world is flat, with the oceans pouring over the edges of the world constantly. Somehow the oceans are always full, though. Many sailors have died trying to see what it looks like off of the edge. None have been successful. The winds are incredibly strong off of the edge of the world so anyone in a flying machine or animal gets blown out of the sky. Maybe the gods do not want the inhabitants of the planet to see off the edge. (( ;] ))
World Map
OOC: The map took me about 80 minutes, so I apologize for crappiness.

Towns and Cities info:

Frost Mountain is barren- trolls and giants stalk the entire mountain, and at the top of the mountain is the gate to the Abyssal Realm. Not a good place to hold an army, I'm afraid. Demons and stuff don't like people.

Berz is but just a small hamlet, old man Berz was a general in the great army of the Silver Age, and he lives there with his wife on their farm.

Ure'Baen, the city of thieves. This place is dirty, gross, and just as hostile. It's a cold, slummy city that few enter, let alone live in. Evil characters fit right in. Home to the Black Lotus cult.

Renadel, the quiet village. Home to the Gray family and some other so-called famous families, this town is boring for anyone looking for action.

Vanderville, the Capitol of Vas'Hilld. This city is BIG. In the center is Vander Castle, where the king and the most noble people live, along with the huge yet uncorrupt Vander Army. Vander City is the city outside of it. Filled with noble families and some wealthier peasants, you could buy anything you needed, whether you find it in a Blacksmith's shop or a dark alley. The Mages' Guild is based here as well. Outside of Vander City is the the literal Vanderville. This village is all about the little shops. It also has the Turning Point. This tavern is everyone's last stop before going on a journey.

Bak'Vaen, the melting city. You'll find anyone here- Elves, Halflings, everyone. Home of the most famous bar in the world, the Rude Wolf. Much to the pleasure of its current owner, Burkley, the place sees many visitors, and has the biggest selection of ale, grog, and booze you'll ever see. This city also has an undercity, mostly a residential area.

Tundoira city is almost as big- though it's snowy as Alaska, though not as cold. Cold Circles is the name of the bar, Ben the Dwarven barkeeper has a strict code- no fights, which also means- fewer drunks. Log cabins are plentiful, as are Dwarves and Gnomes. It's also home to the Tundoiran Military.

Mologra is your desert paradise. You can get everything, drugs, women, you name it, it's there. This place has a big separation between poor and rich. There's no middle. It's a medium sized city.

The Ruins of Raaf are a scary place indeed. Widely believed to be haunted by the people of the once happy and thriving city. The populace froze to death in the matter of a week when the green island of Raaf was hit by the worst ice storm in the history of the world. Even then, the ice still has not gone away and few adventurers are ever brave enough to enter the city, let alone plunder its treasures.\

Info on the Gods:

-----------------------

It was the year 900, and for once in the country of Vas'Hilld, everything was right. King Gregor was a benevolent king, and there hadn't been a war since the year 730. The world of Angalia was prospering- including the evil side.

Jakob Gray went down the path very quickly, even at just a jog. It helped to be aligned with the air. His long, red-brown bangs bounced around, his emerald eyes taking in everything quite quickly. In his pack was an important document. It was needing to be signed by General Trect of Crenold Stronghold, for the shipment of several hundred pounds of explosives. Apparently they had invented something that could launch these bombs before the wick went low.
He went up to the large, thick wooden doors that were the frontal entrance to the large stronghold. Knock! Knock! The rapping of Jakob's fist off of the doors resounded louder than expected. He took a step back, slightly embarrassed, a flush coming to his pale skin, and stopping at his high, pointed, half-elven ears.

Jakob looked around. He swore he had heard some moving in the forest around him.

The huge doors opened, a scout coming out with an arrow knocked on his bow. "What do you want?" The guy asked weaselly.
"Jakob Gray, messenger from Vander Castle. I need to see Trect about some documents."

"Come on in." The scout said, closing the doors behind him as they walked in.

"damn!" taking his sword he drove it into the gate, slowly, but surely a black rot seeped through the wood, decay spreading up and across. "open up in there, I want to see something i think you have ...... " Ripping the sword out a hole collapsed and burned away.

The great wooden doors collapsed on themselves. To be truthful Jakob was scared. He thought those doors were invincible.

About 30 Legionnaires ran towards it, drawing lances and halberds.
"Defend the gates!" A colonel yelled, drawing his pole-ax. "Whoever it is will be terminated!"

Jakob drew his swords, looking at the debris with fear and wonder.

What is going on?

"aha! So it was a silly little ranger galavanting past me. Oh, how annoying. step aside or die fools!" drawing up his sword saryk swung it back and forth with a familiarity, despite his youth saryk could very well come out victorious, even at these odds. A brave halbadier made a tenative swing, and with a snap of his blade saryk jumped with in the reach of the swing, under the halberd and embeded the sword up to the hilt the mans chest, very close to what happend to the door a black rot appeared to seep into his body, Decay setting upon a live person. Pushing away and pulling out his blade, saryk retreated back to safety. He moved very quickly for someone in full plate armor.

"Stop the fighting!" A supsrisingly tall Elf (for in Angalia only High Elves were tall), with many muscles called. He had raven black hair and a goatee.
"Trect!" Jakob called. "This man desires form 3241."
"Ah. So he does. It would cause much chaos in the wrong hands."
"What say you?" Jakob asked coolly.

Jakob's emerald eyes darkened. "You think you could stop the entire stronghold?" He asked, grinning wickedly." You may be able to kill me, but Trect isn't the General of Vander Castle's forces for nothing. Don't underestimate the best."

Jakob took a step back, his soft leather boot making no sound on the wood below him.
"Moridor." He called, a power from within came alive.
His two swords whirled with the power of wind as tornadoes surrounded them. He held the blades at the ready.

He knew there'd be bloodshed.

"you think the wind enough to stop the entirety of The Dremorg ancestry?" Saryk asked Jakob "How about, I challenge you, If you win I leave, If I win, I still leave, But you die!" Saryk relayed his challenge drawing up his blade it flared bright with all the demonic power inside.

"You are only second generation, Saryk." Jakob said. He knew of Klayve and Crezak. They had caused much pain around the world. Klayve the Apostate and Crezak the Infernal were pure, unwithheld evil.

"But I accept your challenge." Jakob said, looking the man in the eye.

Jakob made a false right by taking a step. He fell to his left, rolling across the floor, and hopefully hamstringing Saryk with his right hand sword. The blade would connect if the Dremorg fell for the feint.

Saryk fell for the feint, eager for first blood he was suprised when he fell unable to use one leg.
===================================================================================
Klayve watched his fool son from the void laughing opening a portal from inside the blade Klayve stepped forward
"jakob gray, what a sight to see the gray line continue ... hopefully it ends here" klayve began throwing fireballs as fast as he could blazing light, and rays of fire decimated soldiers two at a time

Jakob watched as men were decimated around him, and dropped to the floor in fear. Wyvern Leather wasn't that fire proof. He saw as Trect shot a crossbow towards Klayve. But he was just a projection, there to get his son out of trouble.

Jakob stood up as he saw Saryk leave.
"Good riddance to him."

Trect emerged from the shadows. "What manner of demon was that?"
"Um, I believe that was a full Dremorg, m'lord."
"So it seems, Jakob. I applaud your fighting skills, though. You put that ruffian to shame."
Jakob shrugged, then suddenly remembered why he was there, getting the papers out his pack as men were tended to by clerics.

And then out came Trect's daughter, Larien. Jakob tried not to stare, but really couldn't help. The young woman's hair end eyes were extremely brown.
"Ah... uhm.... yeah, these are the... ah, papers." Jakob stammered, handing Trect the document.

Klayve " FOOL CHILD, you challenged a fighter! A RANGER! Who was obviously superior to you! you could have died! how would things end then HMMM? are you going to live to challenge wretch? You Idiot let me patch you up?" the demon finished, draining life force from a nearby tree to jumpstart his draconic healing ability
"Father I must admit I overreacted and didn't asses the situation! but I could have salvaged it." testing out his leg saryk leaned on his blade.

"Thank you Jakob." Trect said. "Come into my offices. And this is my daughter, Larien."
"Ah.... hullo." Jakob said, smiling shyly.
"Hello!" The young woman said, cheerful. "And you are?"
"Ahm... Jakob Gray! Ah, son of Jamison Gray."
"Wait.... are you?"
"Grandson of Xavier Gray, yes."
"So you're related to the King's Champion?!"
"Yeah...?"
"My! That's amazing!"
"I guess..."
Jakob walked behind Trect, trying to hide his shyness from the emphatic Larien.
