She has lived at the House of Winds ever since supernaturals were shunned from the world and has watched many generations of supernaturals grow old and pass on. Akio was born to two Tengu parents who left him behind as a child. He spent most of his life doing just what the legends say: possessing priests and forcing them to madness by tricking them into eating animal dung or even human carcasses. He was born after the ban on supernaturals but did little to hide himself, and as a result, he was almost killed by soldiers after a victim of his went to the Emperor for help. The House of Winds took him in afterward and has housed him ever since. As a Ghoul, Akane is not actually any different from a normal human aside from her diet and the fact that it is much more difficult to kill her.
