THE PACK

Image

An open hostel land in the Northwest Mountains, the Wolves have escaped thier captors. However escaping was the easy part. Now freedom is the name of the game and everyones playing for keeps. Will the wolves unite to face this daughting and well equipped foe. Or will they slip back into the shackles they fought so long to break.

The Wolves, and lost and abused group of Hybrids, now head out to the open forest of the Tibberon Mountains. Freed however not safe the Wolves must journey to find stability. However they are not to mistaken for simple mortals, for within their bodies lie destructive and unique abilities, force in through their DNA. Woven in their fabric of flesh tissue and organs forced into thier bodies by thier dark and sinister host. Only known as the Gambit Project. Still hunted by the Gambit, the Wolves now hide. Blended into the human network. However Gambit will not rest until they find their former test subjects. Days and Months of Research will not be left to its own devices. It must be controlled, seized and organized in Gambits own vision.

Today one of the Wolves, Blade an insensate rebel, with his brother, Dagger, or as he choices to call him self, "Scout." head down the peaks running from the source of their pain and suffering. With anger and fury in Blades eyes he wishes to take revenge on those who augmented his form and mind, to be used as a weapon. Blade seeks Gambit's destruction, no matter what end it might create.

Footsteps cracked and compounded on the icy Snow from the mountains. The soft crunch crunch of boots and tennis shoes over frozen sparse rain moving slowly down the mountian side. The Northern Winds died at day break, as the sun peaked out over the Valley. The sound of weighed down trees creaking and cracking from the heavy snow fall from the night before pressed down on the evergreen, in a blanket of white.

"Blade... How much further." A young man asked to his older, and more self stern brother. "We've walked for two days and all we found was some rabbits, and an owl... I can't eat such small things." The elder scoffed as he pushed a branch away from his face to look at the Valley below. His yellow eyes gleaming as he looked about.
"Theres an abandoned cabin not to far from here. Their might be food, if were lucky." He assured. "Come on." With a clean swipe of his sword he cut the branch the wood and snow crumbling to the white below Blade's feet. "We'll have alteast somewhere to rest for the night." He looked around. "So long as no one is thinking the same thing." The sunlight gleamed in the sword, as Blade sheeted the weapon back behind his back. He tugged on the rope that held the scabbard and jumped off the short cliff side, lower into the valley. He landed in some soft snow feet first. He looked up. "Come on Scout." The younger Blonde Wolf timidly looked to the side, but then jumped easly behind.

Scout clutched his bag of medical supplies close, providing some warmth. "Tshk, if you so cold, why don't you change. Your fur is alot warmer that that satchel." He nodded , but did not do as his brother suggested. The two walked on closer toward the cabin. "Lets hope Gambit is still busy with the mess we made. The Jail break left the place to pieces... But I doubt that it will keep them occupied for long."
From the Halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli
We will fight our country's battles in air, on land and sea

First to fight for right and freedom, and to keep our honor clean
We are proud to claim the title of United States Marine

A light gray wolf made it's way through the snow. She paused, glancing around. 'How much longer until they start looking for us?' she wondered, glancing back the way she had come. She shook her head, and started moving again. Crystal knew she was only going to get herself lost, wandering around aimlessly, but anything was better than being caught. Not like she really minded being lost; it just meant another adventure, and possibly a new place to explore.

She climbed on top of a rock, and looked over her surroundings. She decided against looking back again; she didn't really want to know whether or not she could see where they had been kept...at least, she had hoped she was going straight away, and not taking too many twists and turns. And, while she knew this was what often got her into trouble, she now wanted to be lost. 'Anything for an adventure! ...Now...if only they would stop trying to come after me...then I could explore a little more freely.' She jumped off the rock, and started moving again. She wanted to be lost...but she also half-hoped she would run into someone else; an adventure, and being around someone else and she'd be set! '...But the other wolves are bound to be hiding, too...and any other humans would only cause problems for me...'

She paused, ears pricking up. 'How could I have forgotten that I was hungry?' She shook her head, and started wandering around, instead of heading in a straight line, searching for anything that might be food for her.

Shush ran frantically through the snow, her footsteps didn't make a sound, no crunch, not even a soft padding. She was focusing on her powers to keep herself unheard, and unseen. Freezing at the sight of a man with a gun she curled amongst a small grouping of rocks and when the man's eyes scanned across he saw nothing more than that, rocks. He was gone and she was off once more racing through the trees. Those two males had created a distraction large enough for several to escape, hopefully all made it. The realization of her finally being free had yet to hit her the thoughts of what do I do now were present and racing. The white snow stood out against her red tinted fur but she would never be found, not while her powers were working and she was still alive.

Far away now, she was far away and she slowed her pace panting. A scent caught her attention, it was a familiar scent though, farily familiar at least. She followed it and came upon tracks that appeared to be human but she knew they were like her. Was it the males who made her escape possible or was it others who had escaped behind her? She followed the trail, hoping to come across the owners of the prints soon.

With his left hand Morris gripped his right side of his upper torso feeling the bullet lodged inside, those Gambit bastards had managed to hit him during the breakout. Leaning up against a tree, he tried to figure out his next move. It was hard to think straight with the sirens blaring and the foot soldiers combing the area for the escapees. He had to give those guys a hand he didn’t think they had the guts, well maybe not the younger one . . . Scott? Was that his name? Anyway he had time to worry about that later Morris had to find get as far away from this place as possible.
The air was cool and crisp from the snowfall the night before, though he really didn’t like the cold weather it was better than being a government science project. His clothes didn’t help much to keep him warm. The jeans and sneakers were damp from the snow; he didn’t know how much time had passed since the escape. Hearing the crunch of twigs and snow he held his breathe, the soldiers were close by. He exhaled quietly but wheezed taking a breath in, the soldiers let out frantic shouts, before calming down a bit.

“Come out from behind the tree slowly!” one of them shouted.

“Damn they found me,” he thought then spoke, “OK I give.”

There was stillness in the air, he could hear the clink of their weapons and the snow creak under their weight, from what he heard there were about five soldiers. Morris still had his back pressed against the tree as moved to face them. One by one a red dot appeared on either his head or heart, Gambit wasn’t fooling around.

“Now is that necessary, I have no weapon tsk tsk tsk. That’s not fair . . .” he said shaking his head then smiling, “goodbye.”

In a flash he had sprinted passed the soldiers and deep into the woods, he was careful to remain light on his feet. Their shouts could be heard as they chased after him but were fading the more distance he put between himself and them. Morris had changed directions going in a 90 degree angle from his current position. He slowed his sprinting down not being able to hear the shouts or sirens. Sometime would have to pass before he could use his power again, sighing he walked carefully through the area and spotted a grey wolf. She had to be an escapee from Gambit as well . . .

“Hey,” he spoke low enough for her to here, “hey you, we need to get out of here.”

Morris walked over to her with care stumbling a bit and dropping to his knees. He could feel a cough forming and once it did, his eyes widened. He knew what in his palm the bullet had gone in deeper than he thought. . .

Alika's chest heaved. The white wolf had to run into a deep bank of snow in order to escape Gambit, she'd had to run in circles and cross a small lake in order to camouflage her scent. The wolf was slightly smaller in stature, roughly half a head shorter than the average male wolf. She was built proportionately, and as a result had trouble with the deeper snow. The stark white of her coat blended in with the snow, and the only discerning feature that eluded her her being half submerged in the snow was a black nose, and blue eyes.

I've lost everyone else's scent, maybe they're ahead of me, and i'm lagging behind.

The thought made the wolf attempt to get out of the thick bank of snow alot faster, she didn't want to think that she was lagging behind, and being crept up on.

Once she was out of she snow bank, the wolf shook off some of the snow, although a majority of it had melted from her body warmth and soaked through her fur. Her mind was tuned into the Gambit's drones, and would hear fair warning if any of them caught onto her. She was starting to shake from the cold, and was yet to find somewhere that she felt safe enough to sleep, if she could ever feel safe again. Once she was out of the deeper snow, she wasn't as cold, but it was too dangerous to be out in the snow for prolonged periods of time, which was a conundrum, because she camouflaged best in the snow.

She came across a small valley with a few dense pine trees, beneath them a thick carpet of pine needles that hadn't been tainted by the snow. Figuring that this would be a safe a place as any to hunker down, she found the most built up area of pine needles, digging her way under a little while until she'd made a little hollow. Climbing inside, the wolf pawed at the pine needles until they covered a majority of her body, the small patches of white fur left uncovered could just as easily be mistaken as snow.

The two came to the cabin, hiding behind a collection if rocks. Blade motioned Scout to stay down. The Elder wolf pulled out his sword slowly walking toward the cabin crouching. The doors were bared. Wooden planks nailed to it's surface.

Blade gave a few sharp kicks into the planks the door giving way with a rusty lock. He opened it up and walked in slowly. Sword tight on his body, keeping it low.

The cabin was deserted, conwebbs filled the space. Using his hand he sifted through the spiders substance. The cabin bostlered a rustic look of the past 100 years not touched by men or wolf alike. He sheathed his sword. "This will do." He motioned Scout to come in, in which he did quietly. "Alright well rest here, don't show any signs that anyone is here. Not til were sure theirs no Gambit running about." Scout nodded putting his bag on the wooden table. he sighed as he closed the door and propped it with a chair. Blade nodded and looked around. He came into the bedroom, looking around he saw a gun cabinet. He smirked and punched the glass. His arm digging through it he pulled out one shotgun, then two old springfields, and one Colt. He nodded as Scout stepped in. "Here." He said and tossed Scout the Twin Barrel. "You'll need it. If gambit wants to use toys, we've got to play along if we want to live.

Scout sighed. As he gripped the weapon. "I don't like guns."
"Nor do I Scout." Blade said. "But we don't have much choice on surival. Besides. Well hunt the old fashioned way." He tossed him a box of shells. "There only 20 use then well." He cocked the colt loading a full clip. He put it under his belt, at his back. He sighed and dropped on the bed. "Your on first watch, wake me in an hour or if someone comes." Scout nodded and left Blade in the bedroom.

Crystal turned when she heard someone talking, then tilted her head curiously. Someone else that had escaped? Had to be; and it looked like he had been injured on the way. She nodded her agreement as he said they needed to get out of there...but where were they to go? She took another step forward as he stumbled, a little worried now. 'How badly is he injured?' she wondered. She walked towards him when he fell, and wondered briefly what she could do to help.

Then he coughed, and she shook her head. She glanced around quickly. 'There has to be some bit of shelter...maybe rest would help...' She started looking for anything that could be used as a shelter, but didn't come up with much; there didn't seem to be anything in the area that she could see from where she was. She shifted into a human, and tried to help him up. "Come on, now; we can't sit here. Like you said, we need to get out of here." Too bad she didn't know where they were supposed to go.

Shush followed the tracks her eyes snapping to every small noise around her. She had to find a safe place soon but if she found more of her own then that would be even better! Safety in numbers, at least it normally was but she wasn't sure if that applied when you had practically an entire army after you. Their smell was strong now though she was almost there! The trees parted and she was met with the sight of a grouping of rocks. The tracks still lead on though they must be behind there. She crept slowly, afraid of sneaking up and surprising them but also fearful of calling out to them and causing them to react in surprise as well. A cabin, wow they found an actual house to take cover in. She stood a ways from the door just staring at the cabin, what if she was wrong and these weren't her own kind? Her scent couldn't be fooling her though so she approached slowly, creeping her head around the doorframe. "Hello" She called quietly to the pair. Please be friendly she chanted in her mind, oh please be friendly.

Scout sat up filling a shotgun shell. Shush could hear the round cock. "Who's there?" The young man asked walking to the door, opening it just a jaw peeking outside. He kept the gun close, not yet aiming. "Just come out so I can see you." He ordered. There was no sound. He would have noticed the sound of feet. This person might be trying to sneak up. Hr could smell the faint scent of another wolf. It was a female. But Scout could not he careless. He kelt close the the weapon. Waiting for a reply.

Whisper stayed under the pile of snow as he watched people from Gambit walk pass him. Once they left he stood slowly before he ran and jumped off a small cliff. He shook the snow off and walked as he sniffed the snow. Whisper was hungry since he didn’t eat since he escaped. He was still somewhat surprised when everything happened. After a while of walking he stopped and took in his surroundings. He had to find someplace to sleep before the sun was fully out. Whisper wove threw the forest before he curled up into a ball hidden under a bush. He was looking at a pile of rocks before he closed his eyes and got ready to fall asleep aware of his surroundings.

Airlia ran as fast as she could , not caring if someone heard her or not. She jumped into trees as her skin blended in slowly with the trees surface , even the parts with snow. "hmmm...." Her eyes searched every part of the mountains, seeing only faint foot prints, human and wolf. Airlia could smell the familiar scents of other wolves, some sprouting out in rather odd directions. After a moment of searching the area she jumped from the tree, following the sweetest and gross smell out of all the various ones. She knew exactly who they were. Airlia started walking in the direction of the smells, trying to find a way to avoid the whole situation. Her arms instinctively wrapped around her, trying to fight off the now annoying cold. Deep breaths seemed to help the cold go away for a few moments but it didn't stay away for long. why did he have to be the strongest?....stupid over confident mutt....

Airlia tried to take her mind off of who she was looking for and thought of all the other people who escaped. What were they doing? Were some of them caught already? A soft growl escaped Airlia's lips as the thought of being in prison again appeared in her head. She wouldn't let that happen again, she was stronger now and they wouldn't take her down without a fight. Her eyes were to the sky until she bumped into a tree, her skin immediately switching to the surface of the tree. "Damn....." Airlia shook her head as her skin went back to its original tanned color. She took in another breath as she noticed one new scent in the area, causing her to go through the scents she remembered from the prison. "Hmm..." Airlia continued to walk, passing the trees and soon seeing a cabin like place in the distance. "oh my...." She sneezed loudly and shook her head, the scent of the three getting stronger.

Shush crouched back in the snow staring at him, it was him one of the males that caused a distraction. He had a gun, she'd heard it, did he mean to hurt her? No, surely not she was like him he was just scared. She forced her fear down and spoke up "Please don't be afraid. I'm right here." She made herself visible now as she had been crouched by the doorframe literally right under his nose. She looked up at him with her green eyes. "I'm like you I just caught your scent and followed. You're one of the males that made our escape possible aren't you?"

Alika was still too uptight to sleep, and crawled out of her hiding place amongst a bank of pine needles. The other wolves were close, and she decided to track their scents, seeing if she was heading in the right direction or foolishly leading herself back to Gambits. She followed the scents as they grew fainter with the snowfall, but finally saw a cabin in the distance, it gave no clue that anyone inhabited it, but the scent couldn't fool her, she could also track the thoughts of others, but was too tired to do that right now.

She stalked the cabin until she was about 100 metres away. She didn't want to go inside for risk of it being a trap, and settled for sleeping on a bed of pine needles again. Her white fur stood out against the brown pine needles, but she wasn't worried, when the wolves moved on she would do the same, she wanted to keep up with the others, but Alika didn't want to get too close. She didn't trust easily, and figured that everyone is always out for personal gain, no matter how sincere they appear. The wolf shuddered once from the cold, the pine needles providing some insulation, but didn't stop the snow from falling on her. The cold eventually put the wolf to sleep.

"No, not really." Scout said opening the door slowly. "Your alone." He let her in. Putting the shotgun down and sighing. "I'm glad your not one of then, I don't I could pull the trigger if they did come." He sat down on a chair next to the table. "Sorry if I haven't introduced myself, I'm Scout." He said offering his hand. Scout never tried to show something that he's not. He would offered the female food or water, but that was in no supply.

He half expected her to see him as a threat and attack him, but she seemed curious and listened as he spoke. Lucky for him she agreed and looked around, unsure where to go. Morris could see the worry in her eyes about his injury, she suggested they find somewhere to lay low for a while and get some rest. That wasn’t a bad idea; he was of the last experiments to leave during the break out.

“I’ll push through until we’re safe,” he answered her.

She shifted into human form; her skin was fair like the snow with long black hair and piercing green eyes. She spoke as she helped him up, "Come on, now; we can't sit here. Like you said, we need to get out of here."

“True . . .” just then something had caught his nose, “The others should be ahead of us but I can barely pick up their scent.” Morris looked at her and she seemed to be in better shape than he was, so hopefully she would pick up on the scent stronger than he did. Even in danger he couldn’t help himself, “You always get this close to strangers?”

His smiled weakly at her as they walked. It was beginning to snow again, but the sensation of cold didn’t affect his legs as much. Either he was getting used to it or reaching hypothermia. The latterthat worried Morris for his legs were his power without them he was just dead weight. He had trouble remembering the last time he ate or slept as well. Before the explosion he had just been released from solitary confinement and on his was with a group of soldiers back to his cell. If they were spotted be Gambit’s minions Morris had already decided he would stay behind and leave her to go on.

Crystal shook her head; push through until they were safe? She didn't see any other option, anyway, so he would have to. She let out a little sigh, and glanced around again as they started walking. 'But where to go?' she wondered. She paused as he said something about a scent. She sniffed experimentally. "Hmm...I didn't quite notice that before...must not have been paying attention..." She started to lead towards where the scent was coming from; if they found others, maybe they would be better off as a group. 'Power in numbers,' she reminded herself. Although she also knew it might be easier to find a group that was too large.

She hesitated, then gave a little grin when he asked if she lways got close to strangers. "Not really...I mean, if it looks like they need help, I'm not just going to leave them there. Especially in a case like this; you were injured, so I'd stand a better chance at this point if you tried to attack me, really." Though she kew that was only partially true. His injury might have slowed him down, but he'd still have the better chance; she was never much of a fighter.

But she also knew she would have to get out of this cold soon; she didn't want to freeze to death, and her clothes were too thin for this kind of weather. She wasn't sure about him, though she guessed he was close to freezing, too. She started to pay a little more attention to the scent; hopefully they had some sort of shelter, wherever they were...if they found others, anyway.

Airlia walked to the cabin, sneezing every one in a while. She took slow, steady steps that seemed to prolong the chance to think of a way to not have to do this. Once Airlia saw a girl near the cabin she knew the others would come. This many wolves in one place, surly others would come to join. She ran her hand through her black hair then slowly put her hands in her pockets, looking at the snow covered ground. Maybe just maybe this could be a chance to bother him...ha! This will be fun A bright evil smile played across Airlia's lips, loving the thought of irritating those she disliked. Airlia took one last big breath as she reached the stairs of the cabin, standing their for a moment just thinking. She slowly walked to the door and knocked, her smile still there. "Let me in ,Let me in little pigs or I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in" Airlia leaned on the wall next to the door, looking at the ground waiting for a response.

Shush was relieved when the kind male let him in and even gave her a name. "Scout..that's a nice name." She said with a grin at him following him in shaking the snow off of her fur. "I'm Shush." She stared at his hand for a moment before placing a paw in his palm smirking at the scene. It was like a trained dog shaking with it's master although that's obviously not what was happening. She looked over spotting the other male resting and she made sure to note to keep her voice down. "Is he your friend? I saw you two running..both of you are the only reason I got away." She sat down on her haunches looking up at him as he sat and she shifted slowly still sitting on her bottom looking up at him. Now she was a young woman though, the same green eyes of the wolf were still there watching. A knock at the door and a voice caused her to look over her shoulder. "Is..that a friend?" She asked very quietly and cautiously..what if it was a trick.

Re: The Pack (A Wolf Rp , IC)

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby BSX on Tue Aug 10, 2010 9:17 pm

She sighed and stated that she hadn’t noticed the scent before; it was possible she was disorientated when he had found her. Looking at her attire, she could be just as cold if not colder than he was. The snow remembered him of Gambit, cold and unforgiving. They both were silent as they walked, speaking too much could give their position away. Morris was surprised she didn’t get mad at what he said; she was willing to help others in need. He ignored the latter; no way would he harm someone who’d risk their safety to help him.

“Thanks,” he replied in a low voice.

The scent they were following was getting stronger meaning the others weren’t that far away now. His breathing was labored; he hoped they would have a fire and a knife. How he was going to remove the bullet was going to hurt, he pushed that scenario in the back of his mind for now. He stopped sniffing the air, they were getting close.

“We’re not that far now . . . I’m Morris,” he said giving her a slight wave with his right hand revealing the blood he had coughed up. He quickly gripped his hand and brought it down, “Not the smartest thing to do,“ he thought.

Crystal nodded as he introduced himself, then paused, seeing his hand. She sighed, shaking her head, as he pulled the hand back quickly. He was hiding just how bad he was hurt...natural for a wolf, or any wild animal, though she saw little point. She stopped focusing so much on the scent as it got stronger. "I'm Crystal...and you shouldn't hide something like that; just means it's so much worse that I thought, and we'll have to stop as soon as possible to make sure it's not infected."

She wasn't entirely sure how he had managed to be injured so much unless something internally had been damaged. Maybe a bullet, or...she didn't know if they had any other weapons that could do that. She shook her head. "No, it's not that far, and once we get there, we're going to have to find some way to take care of that; especially if that is a bullet; that's even harder."
