This is where we will play our poker game, even though we will be in character, that way we don't gum up the game time line!

An empty Sick Bay means it's time for some poker. The minutest of busy work is done, and Danziger is dressed in her off duty attire of shorts and a tank top. She is wearing her old jungle boots, just in case of an emergency. They are great to run in. Her hair is pulled back in a heavy blond pony tail, and her blue eyes scan the people at the table as she sucks on a pretzel stick and murmurs in the style of a vintage movie hood: "Draw. Jacks or better opens, King of Matza wild." Her hands handle the cards with competence, but not with a sharp's skill. She shuffles and bridges the cards on the down shuffle, making for a pleasing feathery noise. Her hands are strong, and the nails manicured, as befits a surgeon. "Two stick ante."

Twice more she shuffles and offers the cut to the next dealer, who taps the top, deferring the need. The cards whisper across the table and she raises her hand cautiously, taking inventory.

Egecatl likes the images on the back of the cards, they are some sort of mythic beast in a style he has come to know as Celtic. "King of Matza?" He asks the Doctor. "¿Qué es este Rey de Matza?"

"The King of Hearts, the Suicide King, Cat. He has his sword through his head." She grinned, like Eastwood, clenching the pretzel in her white front teeth. "Él puso su espada en su cabeza, el tonto." She laughed, miming the action.

"Sure, breadhead's wild, I can deal with that."

All Steve could think about after hearing that was matzo balls.

He tapped the pretzel rods on the table. Knowing full well that even one wild card balanced the game more between the better and worse players at the table.

Steve didn't pretend to be good at poker, he preferred to pretend to be worse than he was. Anybody who was fooled by the ploy had worse problems to deal with than him at the table. He liked the social aspect more than the winning part. It was more like an exercise in deception and reading he paid a little to participate in, profits were just a little more icing.

"Two pair beats three of a kind, right?"

"Generally." Danziger chuckled. "Army, you ever going to tell us how you dinged that shoulder?"
