The Species Thread

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby LookingAtPerks on Sat Sep 09, 2017 11:46 pm

Species Subsection:

Humans:
The largest population of sentient species in the world, created by one of the three gods produced by the original Gods of Creation Asta and Asti, humans are said to have a high potential then other races as gifted to them by Kaporeon. This was the only species Kaporeon made from scratch.

They have a lifespan that can range from 45 to 60 so long as its natural, thanks to diseases and what not, but exemplary figures have been known to live longer. There are also those who obviously die sooner.

Elves:

There are three major Elven sub-races. First was the High Elves, which played the greatest role of the three. Although one might think of an extreme when first told this, the High Elves tend to be a bit prideful compared to the others, possessing a wide variety of natural talents, one of the longest lifespans of all the sentient species, and often having a high affinity for magic. As a result, although it is not often excessive as one might think, a country of High Elves took part in the Chroma Crisis. Partly because they viewed the Dragons as a threat, and partly because the king at the time actually did have overwhelming pride and hated they were being compared, so he overhyped the emphasis on the danger they posed. High Elves are known for their extremely fair and clear skin, and of course their pointed ears. It is also because of this a few of them are Dragon Hunters, believing that the Dragons can make some of the greatest pray to hunt and prove their honor.

The second, which were mixed in with some of the forces as well, were the Shadow Elves. Originally called Dark Elves, however they hated that name as it made them sound evil and with that produced a number of racist prejudice for a long time. They did not possess as many of the natural talents of the High Elves, but as a result were more diverse like humans and less prideful or arrogant. They have darkish skin similar to purple, blue, or possibly even black along with their pointed ears. However, because they are often looked down on, they used the war in the Chroma Crisis incident to elevate their racial status and because of that are far less discriminated in the current days. Although they do not possess as much natural talent, the natural talent they do possess is focused in more areas. Although nothing substitutes training, and certainly there are many failures, Dark Elves have produced a number of famous warriors.

The last group, although still treated with some caution by the Dragons and especially the Dracora, played little to no role in the Chroma Crisis, although that is only according to record. They are known as Wood Elves. Most of their communities are inside great forests, and they are known for their bow skills. However, other than bow skills, they have few other natural talents so make a great deal of effort to harness these skills. Their skin is around the same color as a Caucasian man's, maybe a bit more tan, and they are the shortest of the elves, averaging around 4'8 to 5'4.

All Elves share the same average lifespan, being between 150-400. No one knows why it is so ridiculously large, but those two numbers are within less then five years of the youngest and oldest that die of natural causes.

Dwarves:

These short but stout beings come in all sorts of personalities, and their beards at least come in all sorts of colors, shapes and sizes. Of course, their faces are different too, but no matter what fantasy world you visit Dwarves will always pride their beards, right?

Anyways, most people from other worlds might expect Dwarves to have no talent in magic, but high talent in martial skills right? WRONG! Dwarves can use magic, and can even produce some of the best mages. If one had to list their weaknesses, Dwarves are not that fast, but even their mages are hardy and strong.

A Dwarf Mage might be carrying around a staff made of pure mithril, so even if you get up close he might beat you to death while launching fireballs at your allies.

However, as Dwarves usually are, their kingdoms are built both in mountains and in underground areas, but they also have surface areas as well.

Their average height is...short. Uhhh, it seems the ruler broke from an axe getting chopped into it, but you get the idea. (its shorter then wood elves by at least a foot though, but sometimes it can be less). Their average lifespan can be between 200-300.

Animans: (Because human plural is humans, not humen)

These beings look like humans, talk like humans, and have intelligence like humans, but in truth they have some defining traits. For one thing, they all have traits of some sort of animal. Fox, cat, and dog are all the most common, but there is also monkey, ravens (note, no beaks or claws, usually it’s just wings. With maybe the occasional better eyes as well), and other such animals as well.

They tend to act just like humans as well, but Animans tend to love physical contact, especially skin to skin contact even more then humans normally do, even if they are just friends or acquiantences. This could be as misleading to someone as our world as sharing the same bed platonically with a best friend in the summer naked, or it could just be a pat on the head (kinda like how dogs like it when you pet their head). They usually wouldn’t do anything too weird, but please keep in mind this is another world and what we would consider weird they would consider normal. They can also be extremely aggressive or defensive over things they care about, and would gladly risk death to protect their friends and family.

There have been many cases of short Animans, as well as Tall. Foxes and Wolves tend to be shorter, but those with Tiger, Lion, or other superior species traits are known to be taller. They also live longer then humans on average because of their improved physique.

Dragons:

An ancient race, Dragons can be found all throughout the world. As expected, many are just beasts that go around destroying things, or taking residence in caves and isolate themselves, however there is a subspecies known as the Dracora.

Dracora:

Dragons with the ability to take human form, they are born in their Dragon Forms but after three years old can switch between their Dragon and Human forms at will. Dracoro will grow at a “normal” human speed until they reach the age of ten or eleven, when their aging will suddenly slow down considerably to a point where it could almost be called a standstill, and then after the next two or three dozen years start up again at a much slower pace.

It is said that the god Vora, who created the Dragon Race, once said “Having them slow down after becoming adults is stupid and boring, as it makes their childhoods really short and annoying by comparison. So I will give them an extremely long childhood as well!”

It was something like that. So that is why Dragons have extremely long childhoods where they might get particularly childish at some points.

Dracora tend to have an affinity for whatever element of Dragon they are, whether they are a Fire Dragon, an Ice/Water Dragon, an Earth Dragon, or whatever. Dragons tend to organize them into clans, and the offspring almost always inherit the element of the clan as that bloodline usually has the stronger genetics. For example, the small but influential Psireon Clan is made up of Dragons of the Mind Element, while Ignius is one of the most prominent Fire Dragon Clans in this world.

The Dracora also have the natural ability to speak, write, and understand the Draconic Language, a Language which is unperceivable to other sentient beings without instruction and training. Not just hard to understand, but without instruction they cannot even properly perceive the words being spoken or written, and trying to do so will only generate large headaches and dizziness for those people.

Because of an incident around four hundred years ago known as the Chroma Crisis, the Dracora and Dragons in general are now distrustful of other species, particularly Humans, Dwarves, High Elves, and Shadow Elves. However, they are not inherently racist and hate the whole species. However, they will never reveal their true race so easily, and will tend to keep secrets from them until the individual has earned enough trust for them to overcome the distrust.

Additionally, befriending a Dracora or any Dragon is like making an eternal friend. The Dracora abhore betrayal, but on the flip side they love and value bonds. Although they would be hesitant to bathe with anyone, even though they normally bathe with others of their own kind in their own settlements, once you gain their trust they would willingly bathe with you as friends. They would fight to defend and save you from numerous enemies, and would help you learn their language if you asked.

For Dragons, there is no such thing as orphans, as they will always adopt orphaned and abandoned children they come across regardless of race.

It should also be noted the Dragon Race HATES the Devil Race, and that the two races could still be considered to be at war. Additionally, the Dragon Race and the Adventurers Guild has an alliance, and it is considered illegal to Adventurers to hunt Dragons according to the Guild. This is because the two often fight together against the Devil Race and any Demon Lords they end up producing.

It is also known that the entire family of Dragons tend to sleep in nest like beds together that are rumored to be extremely large and comfortable, large enough to fit all of their Dragon forms if needs be. Supposedly, they even wear these special robes around their villages and settlements when not in normal clothing or armor, that are easy to take on and off and carry around, so that they can easily change between their human and Dragon forms.

Also, Dragons hate to be enslaved or be forced to entertain others. The Dracora values freedom as well as bonds. However, despite valueing bonds, they also value love. Having multiple partners is not seen as something wrong or immoral, but then again many other species also don’t usually see anything wrong with it.

Dragons live on average around 500 years, and tend to vary in height, size, and other features greatly, even among inherited traits. Although It is also known they can often inherit things from the parent with superior genes the easiest.

The Demon Race:

Different from Demon Spirits (Spirit Versions) and Demon Beasts (Monsters), The Demon Race do share a history with those creatures. Although both were created by the Evil God, when the Evil God tried to mess with Vora’s races Vora retaliated by not only creating mutations in the Devil Race, but also in the Demon Beasts and Demon Spirits, creating the Demon Race. The Demon Race, in addition to learning magic, mana circulation, and martial skills, could also potentially be born with abilities that were usually only naturally owned by Demon Beasts and Demon Spirits that they could use against the servants of Evil, and however they wanted to as well. It is random what ability they will develop, but it is often useful in some way.

Other then that, the Demon Race looks like humans but with wings and a tail. They are probably one of the most discriminated races against in this world, but are not usually actively hunted down like the Dragons are. They are accepted in society, but there are quite a number who are racist towards them.

Their lifespans are around 130, and their average heights are the same as humans.

The Devil Race:

Created by the Evil God, they are a race which often uses magic to modify their own bodies to become as deadly, as vicious, and as horrible as possible. Also, it is them, and not the Demon Race, that tend to produce beings known as Demon Lords that are capable of taking control of and leading Demon Beasts. When one of those appears, the Adventurers Guild and the Dragons team up to fight it.

The Devil Race cannot produce on their own, and has been known to kidnap women of other races to produce more Devils. Originally they could, but along with the mutations that Vora gave them, Gimi the god of progression, evolution, and change somehow found a way to sterilize them so they would die out.

Devils can range from moderately dangerous to extremely dangerous, but tend to not do outright assaults but covert assaults with outright assaults mixed in. Also, a majority of Devils remain on the other side of a dimensional barrier in the Evil God’s realm, only appearing to cause trouble.

There are rare cases of Devils escaping that are not inherently evil or under the control of the Evil God, thanks to the mutations that Vora put into the species. As a result, there are some Good Devils. These Devils have usually used a high level magic the Devils made for covert infiltrations, a magic that lets someone change their very genetic code. Normally it is only used on the surface to fool all but the highest form of detection magic, but those that escape tend to use it on their entire bodies including the insides, so it would be more accurate to say they have Devil Blood and not a pure Devil Race member.

Average lifespan and height are unknown. No Devil has ever been known to die of old age.

The Celestial Race:

Rumored to be the first race created by the Gods, and the only race directly created by Asti and Asta, the Gods of Creation, they will never grow older then the appearance of an eleven or twelve year old child, but will have immense strength, power, and magical potential. That said, they are not born superhuman, but they simply have a high potential to become exceptional. They still have to work hard.

However, while this race tends to remain hidden, they can reproduce with other species and create more Celestials, just like how when Dragons mate with other species they only produce Dragons. They were known to fight against the Evil God during the War of the Gods, and supposedly are unsatisfied with how Kaporeon is running things, instead trying to keep the world organized as they search for and await for the return of Asta and Asti. However, it is known a few members of their species appear from time to time to help out the lower species, and often make a great impact in how the world progresses. THem giving help to somone can sometimes lead to that person becoming king.

Celestials can act very childish, but are also very reliable and dependable when the time comes. Having one at your back can make a horde of zombies seem manageable even if it is just the two of you. Of course, that is only the mental belief. The Celestial right next to you would probably be really worried and stressed about the situation!

Their lifespans are unknown, but their heights are never taller then human children. In other words, they are all short but cute! But, be warned, saying that to some of their faces may end badly for you...

The Gnome Race:

A mutation that occurred in Dwarves after the War of the Gods, it soon became the Gnome population. Gnomes are a bit more humanlike then Dwarves are, maintaining a short stature but are thinner, nimbler, and quicker. They have a natural ability that helps them conceal their auras better, which makes it harder to sense them.

Gnomes are also known for having magical talent that ranges from unusual or brilliant! So there is that too.

Gnomes live on average around 200-250 years, and have the same height average as Dwarves.

UPDATE NOTE: HALVES DO EXIST FOR THE FOLLOWING RACES:

HUMANS (Obviously)
DWARVES.
ELVES.
DEMONS.
GNOMES.

All others would have their genetics take over. Animans will only produce Animans, Dragons will only produce Dragons, and Celestials will only produce Celestials. The exception to this is a Half Dragon, Half Celestial. They will have all the perks of both races, which essentially means there will be a Dragon who never grows older then what he would appear around eleven years old, but have a lot of potential to be incredibly powerful.

Also, the half will usually share more in common with the mother's race then the fathers, but still have something from the father's race.
