The World I'm Creating For A Series.

The universe that the world of the Silver Chronicles takes place in is very much like our own, and much of the science and basic understanding of reality is the same as ours. For example much of physics, biology, mathematics, and of course nature, all work the same as the universe that you currently reside within. The extraordinary exception of the Silver Chronicles universe is the laws of metaphysics and the miracles of the paranormal, which do not contradict the laws of nature or disturb (too much) the scientific basis that many people have come to understand. This is because science is only the human understanding of the laws of the universe that we (with our limited knowledge) witness when nothing intervenes, but not a method for how we can deduce, predict, or understand the creations or events if “something outside nature” was to interfere.

This force that we recognize that is “outside nature” is what we call the supernatural, a set of extraordinary powers and influences that affect the natural world around us and play a part in the folktales, religion, and superstitions of mankind. And thus, the above definition is the general concept of the supernatural that we have come to understand even in our own universe outside this bit of fiction.

Let us move away from the concept of what the supernatural means for our world and the world of the story, and to the main influences of real world beliefs that influence the world that the Story of Silver Chronicles takes place. The Silververse, as we can come to call it, is heavily influenced by Judeo-Christian beliefs, and this entails that the most powerful supernatural forces include God and the angels when compared to other “forces” within this fiction. But don’t worry about feeling left out if you don’t want to play a jew or a christian; the Silververse plays heavily with all forms of folktales, religions, and superstitions beyond the monotheistic beliefs of the author. So feel free to play a Wiccan who praises the power of the mighty gods and goddesses of the days of legend, or any other individual with different beliefs outside the primary Abrahamic core. Characters within the SilverVerse are more likely to run into polytheistic gods and creatures more likely than they will The Almighty and the heavenly host in person outside prayer and visible miracles from believers.

The history of this world that the story belongs to parallels the history of our own world very close, and many of the same major historical events took place in the SilverVerse as it did within our own. The difference between this timeline and our own timeline is the fact that many of the myths and legends told by many folktales did happen to a certain extent. And so for the most part the story plays with the darkness of the past and the uncertainty that is our present and future to place the characters into this world. Though it is also worth mentioning that this universe included figures and characters that could have shifted the history of this world and culture to be very alien from our own, and may even shift from the normal and become increasingly different from our own world as time passes into the stories future. But for now in the stories past and present many of the public who reside within this universe have no real belief in the old folk-tales and supernatural much like our own world.

The Organizations Responsible For the Current State of the Story World:

The Enlightened Knights: The Enlightened Knights are an old order of like minded individuals who’ve had a hand in many world affairs and events for over 800 years. Their origins date back to the early dark ages during the the course of europe’s crusades and whose founder even fought in the battles to protect items of incredible power from both sides of the conflict. The founder was given ownership of the Scrolls of Atlantis and was seen as one of the most intelligent of the knights of his order, but the founder quickly fell from grace and was rejected by the Grandmaster of his order but before the Scrolls could be taken away from him he disappeared from his holdings and land. The Founder took the advanced knowledge of science, medicine, and technology that he gleaned from the scrolls and began his own order of knights. But instead of being clad in armor and fighting for the kings and lords of the age of yore his knights were comprised of those able to influence the course of events. Technologically superior to the rest of the world the Enlightened Knights hold their knowledge to themselves mostly, but have provided the world with what they need to advance but mostly for their own agendas rather than for the betterment of mankind. Their goals and philosophy are such: Enlightenment, Strength, Control, Evolution and as such each of these keywords holds a major part of the members’ core beliefs. Creating centralized banks, starting wars, fueling many sides of politics, and exercising their invisible hand of control over the government's with their influence and technology.

Silver: Silver isn’t the official name of this secret society, as this society has refrained from giving itself an official name, its many sister branches around the globe call themselves something different and each has their own leader but they all share the same teachings and goal that unite them. As such this secret society is made up of many different kinds of people with different beliefs and cultures, but they all stick together for the centralized goal and teaching of the secret society. Their goal: To protect the people of the world from the supernatural evils that threaten the everyday life of the innocent people and to keep the peace by keeping this world as secret as possible from the very public they protect. As this goal implies this organization is mainly focused on the world of the paranormal and acting as a quasi-police of the creatures who go bump in the night. Unlike some groups many within their society see no good in just containing threats unless there is no other way to deal with the evil, and as such this society has a dark past with eliminating what they view as possible threats. Silver’s origins date back to Ancient Greece with their roots in a small cult of hunters that worshiped Artemis, and began this society by hunting and killing paranormal creatures as offerings to their goddess. But as the times changed so did these hunters’ goals and beliefs.
