Vægher is a mirror world of Geiranger, but it is dark, unlike the village. A constant mist covers the ground and the sun never shines. The fjord is a dying swamp surrounded by forests of dead, rotting trees. Every structure within the town mimics its counterpart in Geiranger, but the structures are barely skeletons of the true architecture, surrounded by mounds of rubble. It is always dark, gloomy and cold. Rain is almost constant and there is no separation between day and night. The passing of time is slow and feels like one continuous day.
Although two separate dimensions, Vægher and Geiranger exist on the same plane. Through the use of seances, mediums and other similar methods, communication between the two is possible. But for centuries these communications are seen as nothing more than simple ghosts or trapped spirits. The connections don’t tend to last very long and it is rare if any sense can be made from them.
Some of the souls, but only a rare few, have the capabilities to communicate back with the living. Again, it is usually brushed off as hauntings or ghosts. With enough focus or power one can manifest temporarily in the living world and even interact with it. But the more magic those in Vægher use, the quicker pieces of their soul begin to chip away. Within this dimension, beyond the souls there are also poltergeists who once were souls that lost too much of what they used to be, now only existing as demonic presences.
Vægher is the size of Geiranger. Most souls don’t attempt to venture outside of the village limits, afraid of what may lie outside. Those few who ventured beyond the mist never returned, rumored to join the mass of poltergeists and demonic spirits that haunt Vægher and the souls trapped within it.
The souls that reside within Vægher can hear and sense most of the living in Geiranger. Although the living seem little more than ghosts, Vætter can hear the voices like whispers in the wind. Unless these witches are mediums, their communication with the living world is limited to those who try to communicate with them, though the connections usually never last long, nor are they strong. But when a medium from either side communicates with each other, that is the strongest connection that can nearly be mistaken for being someone in their own dimension.
