As you may have noticed this isn't your traditional RP in the truest sense. This RP is designed to blend in both traditional RP tabletop mechanics along with standard forum RPing to help create a hybrid experience. So, to help ease people into this I have created this guide.
The Basics
All players are members of the RSFG, and as such work together to help colonise the Alpha Centauri system. There isn't a solid command structure yet so a team leader will be selected for each mission. Because of this you only need to be active during your mission. If you require a break from RPing then simply speak to me and we can arrange something so that you can jump back in as soon as you are able.
All RP adventures in this universe start with The Entity, essentially the Dungeon Master who sets the scene for the mission and kicks everything off. At this point the RP switches over to the players who can make their moves, talk to each other or take actions. This may include scanning the environment, interacting with equipment and stuff like that.
Interacting With the Environment
Just like tabletop RPs, this universe encourages characters to explore everything infront of them. Unlike traditional TRP's you can't just say that your character examines something and then you get a quick answer, otherwise we would have hundreds upon hundreds of one line posts. To eliminate this, and avoid any language errors, if anyone is doing an action where they need more information from the DM, for example interacting, scanning or observing, the actions are highlighted in bold tags. i.e:
Mr Grey walked out of the shuttle and scanned the horizon with his blue hued eyes. The first thing he noticed was the large rock formation at the end of the clearing. He could see that it looked like a cave entrance was disguised behind the rocks. Walking upto the formation he began to Examine the rocks.
What Happens Next
Once everyone has made their actions the turn moves over to the Entity to advance the story and respond to interactions from players. Note that not everyone has to make interactions in a turn, they can instead just talk to each other etc. If no one makes an action or decides to move on, then the turn automatically goes back to player 1 and continues until someone interacts.
That is the basics of the system, I will update this with more detail later on.
