The Seventeen Packs

Image

The Tenneth Pack- The Pack of Fire. The most tempered and bravest of the Packs. The Tenneth enjoy a rich, and varied history of being one of the most populous, and influential wolf packs in all of Nigerius. Their pride in themselves, their Element, and their Pack is perhaps the most outstanding quality they possess. While their legendary tempers are perhaps their most unsightly. Known for being a military powerhouse, the Tenneth boast a large standing force that is both the envy, and fear of their surrounding neighbors. The Tenneth live in the blistering heat of the Vulcan Mountains. A hazardous land that is constantly changing thanks to the active volcanoes in the area. The Tenneth invoke the power of Fire able to manipulate, and create flames from either within or from their environment.

Image

The Dimitrios Pack- The Pack of Earth. The most strongest and hardy of the Packs. These burly wolves enjoy a rich culture centered on mining and crafting. The Dimitrios are famed for being hard workers that value integrity, and honor above all else. Yet, this is overshadowed by their long, and historic rivalry with the Tenneth Pack. The Dimitrios' legendary stubbornness often clashes with the Tenneth's legendary tempers making them arch-rivals in all pursuits. Whether it be building the largest armies, or creating the greatest civilizations. Neither Pack will ever back down. This Dimitrios live in, on, and around the Onatah Cliffs. A perilous land that often falls victim to earthquakes and rock slides. These Wolves can bear on to any land and can lift up the heaviest of objects. Invoking the power of the Earth, the Dimitrios can mold and manipulate the very land around them to suit their needs.

Image

The Avira Pack- The Pack of Wind. The most passive, intellectual, and curious of the Packs. Their history and way of life is little known to the other Packs, as the Avira prefer to remain isolated within their territories. What is known is that they enjoy a sophisticated culture of class, art, and science. This Pack is almost impossible to reach, living on the floating mountains known as Era. Where a narrow bridge is the only entrance by foot. Here violent winds, storms, and tornadoes occur. Despite these conditions the Avira are masters of the sky. Almost all are born with large, and powerful feathered wings capable of withstanding the greatest of cyclones. The Avira invoke the power of the Wind, able to create powerful gusts just by the beat of their wings.

Image

The Arlyne Pack- The Pack of Water. These wolves are the kindest and most determined. They enjoy a relatively peaceful existence with the other Packs. Being neither hostile or violent, and always preferring to help rather than to fight. Since the war began it has forced even this friendly Pack to take up arms in defense of their homes. And defend they have, managing to stave off invasions from both the Tenneth and the Dimitrios in the past. The Nerine Falls is where this Pack calls home. The water here is the purest in all the land; set against a backdrop of waterfalls that cascade down onto rocks making for a most beautiful sight. Floods are common here and are more powerful than anywhere else. These wolves have the miraculous ability to breathe underwater possessing a strange amphibious biology unique only to them. The Arlyne summon the power of Water, manipulating the tides as easily as the Moon itself. Using their powers these wolves have created water systems all over Nigerius, forming the many rivers, creeks, and lakes of the land.

Image

The Kamaria Pack- The Pack of Shadows. The most mysterious and deadly of all the Packs. Next to nothing is known about these wolves, as their society is a highly private one. The only thing these Wolves have shown to others is an incredible hostility rarely found in other Packs. These wolves live in the Black Valley, a forested land surrounded by high canyon walls where little light shows. These wolves can manipulate the shadows to conceal or form them to attack. It is no rumor that they are bitter foes of the Pack of Light.

Image

The Kita Pack- The Pack of Light. The most peaceful and pacifistic of the packs. These wolves can create and manipulate light using it for various purposes such as travel and defense. They have often been accredited with being heavenly, thanks to many of them being born with angel-like wings. Their culture is a lively one, filled with arts and recreation. The Kita are a very amicable and hospitable Pack that show nothing but love towards their fellow Wolf. They hold a strong belief in the act of forgiveness; something that has been tested many times by the Kamaria Pack. They live in the Sakura Ruins where light shines in the cloudless skies. These wolves are known for their music, instruments, and their many dances.

Image

The Ausi Pack- The Pack of Ice and Snow. These Wolves are standoffish, indifferent, and at times, snobbish. Their culture is one built heavily around fishing. Inventing tools like fish nets, lobster cages, and fishing poles. Ausi's are commonly cold and efficient, showing great perfectionism in all that they do. They live in the Sharikere Mountains where blizzards are known to be brutal, and the coldest of winds feel like sharp blades across one's pelt. These Wolves are born with the thickest fur, and able to withstand the sub zero temperatures of their frozen land. They have the ability to create ice and shape it according to their designs.

Image

The Aven Pack- The Pack of Plants and Healing. A culture based on agriculture and the art of medicine, these wolves are naturally benevolent. Once the Great War broke out, the Aven confined themselves to their territory, a labyrinth of trees known as the Acacia Woods. Here they remain isolated from the war in hopes of riding it out. Only concerning themselves with the protection of the multitude of plantlife. The trees here grow tall and thick, and never go bare in the winter. The Aven have the ability to control plant movement and growth, even capable of enhancing a plant's natural properties. These wolves have created various types of medicines for the other wolf packs.

Image

The Borak Pack- The Pack of Lightning. The last of the Great Packs, these wolves are whimsical and often cocky. A Borak is usually identified by the lightning shaped pendant they wear around their necks. Each pendant is crafted to be unique to it's owner, and the process of giving these to a newborn is a celebrated event. These wolves live in the Arjuna Mountains where thunderstorms are commonplace. These wolves can summon lightning by generating electricity from their bodies, often using it as both a defensive and offensive mechanism. Their society is technologically advanced having built machines that are powered by their own electricity.

Image

The Alva Pack- The Pack of Fear and Death. These wolves are located far off in the foreboding Felix Valley. They are a warrior culture centered on the phenomenon of death. They show no fear even in the face of their own demise, as it is the wish of every Alva to die an honorable death. They show a deep respect for the cycles of life and death. They believe nature is transient, that nothing lasts forever as all living things must accept their own mortality. The Alva stubbornly hold true to their beliefs, as pride and honor runs deep within their veins. Because of the morbidity of their culture they are often seen as nothing more than murderous barbarians. This is not the case. The Alva have an advanced culture, one that has great knowledge of the cosmos and celestial bodies. Their knowledge is ancient, one that can be traced back to the origins of Nigerius itself. Their most notable time-honored tradition, is to wear the skull of their ancestors. They believe that their ancestor's spirit will visit them from Atlas if the Alva is ever in need of guidance. It is great taboo to break an Ancestral Skull as the Alva believe it will place a curse upon that ancestor's bloodline. Once drawn into battle, the Alva's reserved demeanor gives way to utter savagery. These wolves take pleasure in the act of battle, especially in the slaying of a worthy opponent. The Alva have the unique ability to read another wolf's soul; capable of making a wolf experience their greatest fears.

Image

The Jera Pack- The Pack of Time. These wolves are modest and understanding. They live deep within the vast, Elian Desert, a place where sandstorms could appear in seconds. This makes them very difficult to find as outsiders can easily become lost in the ever shifting sands. The Desert is burning hot during the long days, and freezing cold during the long nights. The Jera have the ability to manipulate their relative Time by slowing it down or speeding it up. Some even have the rare skill of precognition being able to see into the Future itself. The Jera have a tradition of wearing watches or hourglasses on their person.

Image

The Hemlock Pack- The Pack of Poison and Venom. These wolves are sly, devious, and most often mischievous. They live in the Swamps of Nazar that is littered with poisonous plants and venomous creatures. A Hemlock's fur is poisonous to the touch, usually having poisonous barbs and bristles. A Hemlock's fangs can grow as long as three inches, maybe even more, as they secrete the most potent venom known in the land. Rather than being committed killers, the Hemlocks are more interested in pulling pranks, thievery, and telling jokes. The Hemlocks grow peculiarly stronger when eating, drinking, or touching other toxic substances. They also have the strangest diet known to Nigerius, consisting of poisonous snakes, spiders, insects, lizards, berries, and plants.

Image

The Jivanta Pack- The Pack of Life. A pack of sweet and fun loving wolves. They live in Haya Meadows where life seems to bloom everywhere you go. These wolves can speak to the animals and even assume their shape for a time. They can also control another animal's mind, similar to the Avira's ability of having an empathic link with the birds. These wolves are vegetarians and have the strongest connection to Prana, the vital force that connects Wolves to their Elements. It is said that a Jivanta can even impart their Prana to other Wolves, boosting a Wolf's Elemental power.

Image

The Zalika Pack- The Psychic Pack. Possessing the ability of telekinesis, the Zalika Wolves are able to move objects with their very minds. Their other abilities include telepathy and Psionic energy manipulation. The Zalika rarely speak preferring to communicate telepathically, and read each other's minds. Since privacy is a rare thing in their society, these Wolves are very open and candid. They like to educate, and see no reason in withholding knowledge or information from each other. They make their home in the enigmatic, Syaukat Canyons. These wolves usually have strange, different colored markings on their fur, and wings that oddly enough match a Wolf's individual personality.

Image

The Strigoi Pack- The Pack of Hunger. The most reviled and dangerous Pack to stalk the Lands of Nigerius. The Strigoi are a terrifying sight to behold. Almost like ghosts, their bodies are emaciated, with long, spindly legs, and a prominent mane. Their mouths often hang slacked jaw revealing rows of long, sharp teeth and an equally long tongue. They roam the Adonis Badlands were hardly any life seems to be found among the sharp and jagged rocks. The only thing more terrifying than their ghastly appearance is the power of their Element. The Strigoi do not feed on carcasses (though rumors of cannibalism often circulate), instead they feed on Prana, the vital force that connects all living things with the Elements. A Wolf will often feel "drained" experiencing fatigue both physically, and mentally after coming into contact with a Strigoi Wolf. The worst effect, however, is the Wolf's diminished connection to their Element. This leaves the Wolf in a precarious and vulnerable state. The Strigoi gains power after a Pranic feeding, boosting their speed and strength. A Strigoi Wolf must be careful to not feed too excessively, lest they alert others to their presence. If a Strigoi does happen to gorge itself, then it will face a state of intoxication called a Stupor. This state greatly impairs their senses, movement, and responsiveness. Yet, the Strigoi's curse is that of eternal hunger. Even after being satiated, it won't be long before the Strigoi feels the need to feed again.

Image

The Seti Pack- The Copy Pack. Possessing the ability to mimic another wolf's natural abilities, they can harness any element to a certain extent. The maximum duration they can borrow this power is only for a few days, but this requires great practice to control and maintain. Not only can they mimic another Wolf's abilities but they can assume another Wolf's form. Only on the condition they have come into contact with this Wolf before. They can only assume one Wolf's form at a time, and can maintain the transformation for a few hours. As far as temperament goes, they're quite friendly and love to play. But, they have a low tolerance for those with unsavory attitudes. These wolves live a nomadic lifestyle in the vast Zeno Plains.

Image

The Dhvani Pack- The Pack of Sound. These Wolves are born blind and live inside dark, maze-like caverns that stretch for miles. Dhvanis have the ability to manipulate sound waves at different frequencies and volumes. Their sense of hearing is remarkable even by Wolf standards. A Dhvani's attacks are difficult to counter due to it's uniqueness. Dhavanis are born with abnormally long ears covered in thick fur. Their ears act as a muffler when pressed down. These wolves in personality are typically silent and stoic, most preferring to stay inside their caves, and keeping neutrality in the current war. They're usually non-hostile and can be quite astute.

Cousin Packs

Image

The Canicus Pack- The Pack of the Volcanoes. These wolves literally live inside volcanoes. Being born in such an intense environment has giving them the greatest resistance to heat. One of the Canicus's favorite pastimes is swimming in large pools of lava. These wolves are cousins of the Tenneth Pack. Similarly, they are proud and hot-tempered. These wolves can create a small, explosion of magma and manipulate the molten rock at will. These wolves live in the Vulcan Mountains with their cousins.

Image

The Saffron Pack- The Pack of the Coming Harvest. These wolves are a rare sight, and any who sees one, are blessed with good fortune, or so they say. These wolves are usually born with golden brown fur with bright, amber eyes. They control the harvest all around Nigerius and almost all wolves depend on this Pack. The war has affected them greatly. Sine it began the growing season has become wildly unpredictable, and usually yielding in weak crops. These wolves are famous for the golden wheat fields they live in. Legend states that one will feel pure relaxation upon entering their lands. They are said to be cousins to the Aven.

Image

The Deon Pack- The Pack of Metal. This pack is the cousin of the Dimitrios. They can destroy almost anything with their bare jaws. For years the Deon have been exceptional metalworkers due to their ability to manipulate metal. They can change the shape, length, and quality of the metal. The Deon use this ability to coat themselves in armor or add blades to their limbs, fur, fangs, or claws. These wolves live in the Valley of Iron, a land that lies beneath the Onatah Cliffs. Deons usually live in solitude and keep a good distance from other wolves, but even they have been roused from their homes to answer the Dimitrios call to arms.

Image

The Ekaitz Pack- The Pack of Storms. Cousins to the Avira. They have the power to control the weather, but only on a small scale. It's kind of like a prayer, if one wants it to rain, then there is a chance it will rain. A huge pack, however, could control the weather all across Nigerius. In recent times they have become something of a rarity, but there are those that help to defend their homes in the Floating Mountains of Era.

Special Pack

Image

The Spirit Pack. When a Wolf dies its spirit goes to Isra. Isra is a heavenly realm beyond the reach of mortal wolves. Occasionally, a Spirit Wolf will come down from the heavens to help guide a Wolf in trouble. These wolves can't interact with the living, but they can show signs of their presence. Some Spirit Wolves however, live in Atlas. A sub realm where the most wisest and heroic of wolves gather to meet after their deaths.
