*Note* These will be the current groups the players will be interacting with. As the story progresses, others will be mentioned and outlined.
Joint Sovereignty Organization (J.S.O.) – Beginning in 1834 the European Nations felt it would behoove representatives of their respective empires to meet and discuss events that had happened during the year. These first groups had little noble blood and were at best, glorified courtiers. However, as the years ticked away the grander the representatives became. In its current form the JSO is administered by all high bloodline nobles, not purchased titles nobility as has been in practice since the 1940’s.
With its headquarters in London and its main assembly in Frankfurt, the JSO is seen as a British/German attempt to yoke other countries by forcing their collective wills upon them. The countries that are Chair Holders are Germany, British Communal Expanse, Spain, France, Turkey, Russia and the Vatican State. The JSO was conceptualized as a safe place to address political problems within the world where all countries would have an equal say. All independent nations are welcome as Chair Members, whilst colonies are relegated to the generic title of Branches. Territories are simply noted with the title Thane and then the name of their delegate.
Management Breakdown: Every six years a blind poll is held where all potential candidates that wish to hold office are chosen at random. The six year period is called a Session, in 2014 it will be the 30th Session. The positions are as follows:
Chancellor: Landgrave Wulf-Dietrich von Scheffel (Ger.)
President: Baron Jason Montgomery (Brit.)
1st Chair: General Ilya Khvoshtchinski (Rus.)
Speaker of the House: Alfonso Monardes, Duke of Cadiz (Spn.)
House Lord: Dun Khilji al-Malik al Kamil (Trk.)
Branch Lord: Jean-Francois Ladvenu des Armouro (Frn.)
Thane Lord: Gian Bartolommeo Cristoforo, Cardinal of Rome(Vat)
Department of Research, Armament and Weaponization (D.R.A.W.) - Officially formed in 1950 after the Government Logistical Reconstruction act of 1948 joining the defunct Covert Operations Sector 1 of the military and four minor agencies within the British Government. Armed with a seemingly unlimited budget and able to avoid bureaucratic red-tape, DRAW has been a shadowy berth for many scrupulous individuals. At its inception Lord Sebastian Keller was famous for kidnapping immigrants, political dissidents and criminals, subjecting them to ghastly experiments and leaving their mangled remains in huge mass graves.
The aged current head, Count Jefferson Easterbrook of York and Keller’s Godson is almost as bad. During the Rus-Turk War it is thought over four thousand were electrocuted, burned, boiled and experimented upon; including a surviving whistle-blower who was used to test a weapon employing microwaves. The agency is above prosecution, gaining autonomy though Sir Michel Keller, the Minister of War in 1993. Some debate that DRAW does not even exist and is used as a propaganda bogeyman for Britain’s subjugated colonies and territories.
The official stance of the British Communal Expanse is that DRAW did exist at one time but there is "no evidence such an agency currently operates within the realm". When documents surfaced noting a sum totaling eleven billion pounds allotted on behalf of "Maintenance, Other" for a Salisbury postal depot, MP John Atkinson issued a formal inquiry. Yet just hours after the inquiry posting, Atkinson’s life was ended by a gunshot; a 7.62 x 51mm rifle round to the back of the head. His death was declared a suicide.
Rottaktikgruppen 14 (R.T.G 14)- A branch of the German Geheimpolizei that take a global stance on security matters from immigration to narcotics. Most of RTG 14 are former military or independent contractors that have been folded into the federal pay grade. For the most part they had served under the mantle of providing security to JSO meetings but since 1999 their role is more para-military, using their numbers (approx. 144,028 in 2012) to reinforce struggling occupational troops in contested territories.
Of the Active RTG 14 Battalions the 1st "Royal Spears", 7th "Postdam Lancers" and the 33rd "Berlin Bulwark" served in the Rus-Turk conflict with great accolades as independent units under the command of the Russian 9th shock army being awarded the prestigious Order of Aleksandr Danilovich Menshikov, the first non-Russian force to be awarded such. War President Dimtri Markov had said: "They fought like this was their home, that these were their children, that these were their wives. They may be born of foreign soil but they are of Russian blood today."
