The Empire of Atlantia

Great we once where but now we are weakened brought low by war and by rebel. How we cling to our last holdings and hope for better days and a new glory for Atlantia.”

Atlantia is an empire in decline an empire clinging to past glory and praying for new found glory. A new glory that the people believe is to be found in their young queen Ariana. In her short time as Queen she has already put Atlantia back on the map as masters of the sea with the finest fleet in all of the west. Now with the sea as hers she looks for ways to bring back the power on land that the empire once enjoyed. But in these dark times it is hard to tell who to trust and many paths will open to the young queen and her nation. The question is will the path lead to Glory or to ruin? Only time will tell…


Religion and Magic


"And so time begin with Kronica Mother of all goddesses and the Queen of time. To her was born of herself Lunia the goddess of light and life and her sister Nercoesia Queen of Darkness and death. So then did Lunia and Nercoesia dance together at dusk and dawn and from light came Philyia goddess of the sea and Syliu the queen of winds. From the Dark was born Teria of the earth and Firai of the flame on whose forge great weapons are made. Then from earth and fire came Arthia warrior maiden of the goddess. And from the sea and air brewed Donira the stormbringer"



The people of Atlantia are protected by the Nine the collective name of the nine Goddess they worship. Each of the goddesses have their own oracles and mages.

Oracles are the highest of the orders born with magic and the gift of foresight they are chosen of their goddess. They mainly oversee the mages of the order and advise the queen on matters of the goddesses

Mages are also born with goddess given magic but they lack the gift of foresight. They run the day to day activities of the temples and shrines of the empire.

Atlantian Fire


Of all the magics and weapons of the Atlantian Navy and Army one is feared above them all. This is the techo-magic Liqud flame shot from the flamethrowers of both land and sea units. Immune to all but magical water this flame will burn though ship and man with ease.

No one knows how this fire is made but those few Atlantians that create it which gives the Atlantians an edge. But even this great weapon can have draw backs like running out of flame or the highly volitile mix blowing up on it's user.

Army of Atlantia


Hoplites

The main rank and file of the Atlantian battle line armed with spears or tridents and a large shield they fight in a shield wall with spears out almost impossible to break from the front they are also armed with swords for if fighting gets too close for their spears. Heavy armored and slow moving in formation


Legionnaires

Heavy armored like the hoplite but armed with swords and a tower shield before they charge they throw a javelin to lighten up the defenders they normally strike the flanks while the hoplite line holds the foe in place but they a able to fight as a frontline force as well



Myrmidons

Less armored then the legions and Hoplites but still thought of as heavy these warriors dual weld short swords and a trained the wave into the enemy ranks and cause havoc in their lines these troops are seen as heroes and only the best get into the training so few in number but just one can turn the tide.


Atlantian Archers

Deadly from range with their bows but wearing only light leather armor and only a sword or dagger they must be kept out of melee


Atlantian Musketeers

Men trained in the use of the musket and other like guns due to the slow fire rate and close range these men are given armor and some melee training but still best to stay out of the melee


Flamethrowers

Some of the most feared units of the Atlantian army armed with a flame gun full of Atlantian fire they can quick burn down whole units their range is very short they are most effective at defending narrow chokepoints.


Atlantian Lancers

Light horsemen used to hit and run armed with spears the charge for shock then use their speed to pull out before charging again or getting away form heavy horsemen that would kill them


Knights of Atlantia

The heavy horsemen of the Atlantian army armed with sword and shield and heavy army they are used to fight toe to toe with almost any units


Sky Guard

Elite knights mounted on winged horses they use bows and dive attacked to break up the enemy ranks

“Myth” Units



Minotaur

With the body of a man with the head of a bull standing from 7-8 feet tall with strong builds able to take on a small group of normal men alone. Minotaurs when first found on the great islands in caves. Though not as smart as humans they are able to speak and reason.. when not enraged. The Minotaurs joined with the Atlantians when they went to take over the Caribbean on promise of a place within the Atlantian empire. They now live among the Atlantians acting as guards and Soldiers. Both male and female they have slow birth rates though which has kept them always a minority to the humans.



Centaur

Top half human bottom half horse these creatures where first met by the Atlantians during their conquest of the Caribbean. The Atlantians when they first came from the great Islands had no horses and appealed to the Centaurs to let them have the wild horses that they kept. The Centaur chief refused and so started the Atlantian-Centaur war. With the help of the minotaurs the Atlantians defeated the Centaurs. The Centaurs where allowed to live and roam the plains only after agreeing to give the horses to the Atlantians. Also they where made to agree that should the Atlantians call they would ride to war with them. Centaurs also have both male and female.


Before we move on it should be noted that to this day centaurs and minotaurs do not get along due to the events of the Atlantian-Centaur war.



Kraken

Large squids able to crush ships with ease. It was after the conquest of the Caribbean when the Atlantians where making the Mexican Ocean their’s that they met Teliciona Queen of the krakens. This was the name given her by the Atlantians as it is known krakens are just large animals. But back to the story. Teliciona had claimed the waters of Mexico as her nest and would crush any Atlantian ship that got close.
To defeat Teliciona they lured her to the coast with long range attacks until she had breached herself. It is then that the first recorded use of Atlantian fire came in that it was shot out on the creature frying her. After her death a sac of her eggs where found the Atlantians having seen the power of the kraken kept the eggs and raised the offspring to listen to them. This is how the Kraken became a weapon for Atlantia.



Golem

Made of metal shaped like a humanoid and given life by magic so claim the crew of the Victory. Found on the Island of Victoria in the African Ocean during the Atlantian civil war. Due to the loss of the Victory and the African coast the story was never confirmed and was forgotten until Queen Ariana found note of it in old records. Is it real? The Atlantians intend to find out should they reach the shores of the African Ocean again.
